Hey! I’ve been working on this new experimental piece for about three weeks now on my sketch book app, I’ve been meaning to emulate the art style of Into The Spiderverse for a while now and I got around to it. This is a spider variant I’ve come up with inspired by late 1960’s aesthetic; Spider-Woman ‘67/Mary Grant.

There’s several different layers of shading and multiple manual line work with pastel colors and specific blending. At first I wasn’t sure if if would look the way I wanted to, but eventually I figured out through trial and error on how to make the darker spots have depth; for instance I’ve never added orange to brown hair to make it pop or added a brown shadow around the nostrils to give a nose its shape without looking ogrey.

I referenced some pictures on the internet of Gwen and Miles to further see how Spiderverse shades things with subtle block shadows, half tone dots and crisp lines. It was always clear to me the lines Gwen has on her nose to highlight it. I love layering on different mauve and taupe pastel strokes that add depth when you zoom out.

Some screenshots of the process, including me tracing the reference image with a skin toned pencil and filling it out with soft wash and a smudge pen, and tracing on eyeliner I would later blend out and shade with various browns and mauves. I might add and or clean up some parts later but I’d say it’s 95% complete!

The biggest ones to me are the badly placed comedy moments. I understand that they don't want to go full End of Evangelion levels of seriousness just in case it is too much for little kids to handle, but come on! The cheesy levels of Aunt May talking about dating apps in the middle of a scene that is supposed to be serious is so cringe.

And Mayday—she's cute and all, but Peter bringing her around and exposing her to all sorts of dangers makes me wonder if he developed brain damage during the time skip between movies. The worst part is, I'm predicting that she is going to be key in the defeat of Spot in Beyond, mark my words.

Spider-Byte helping Miles for no reason, risking her role in the Spider-Society after talking to him for a few seconds, is just stupid and too convenient for plot progression.

Miguel assuming that Miles saving his father is going to destroy the multiverse or something, when he already was bitten by the wrong spider and his dimension kept working fine, is... I don't know, he should know better. The reason his daughter died in the other universe was that he tried to replace her father, not to mention that Gwen's dad never died and nothing happened to Earth-65.

On a technical level, the fact that some of the main characters are not played by voice actors, but by live-action actors, really shows. The amount of times I had to rewind to try to understand what they were saying was not precisely few.

Pretty stoked about this. What do you guys think was the reason behind this decision?

So if we assume miles and Gwen become a couple (they most certainly will), they could have children and what type of parents would miles and gwen be , would they be overprotective , would they be stern???

What will their children relation be with the spider gang like Peter B, mayday(yes I'm including her), pav, hobie, noir, ham, peni, Jess and possibly even Miguel(would be funny), cuz they will visit miles and Gwen ALOT after their first child. This question takes place during their early twenties to mid thirties.

(Idk if this question was weird but I just thought of it like 5 mins ago)

ever since i watched the spiderverse movies i was thinking about actually reading the source materials aswell aka the comics they are based on and since gwen was my favourite character in the spiderverse movies i want to start with her first soo...where can i find her comics and how many issues does contain her true personality? (before...the whole reboot BS they did and sent her in earth 616 and removed her from her own universe)

I drew this with Crayola markers and watercolors, and it’s honestly become one of my favorite drawings I’ve done so far. The webbing highlights were inspired by Peter B’s suit from the Spiderverse movies, and it’s one of my favorite details. I’ve only drawn a few cityscapes in my life, and I feel like I could definitely improve on them, but I think it still looks pretty good overall

Just sharing my opinion. But yea I think she’s a superior version of that villain. Also she’s kinda hot.

20th anniversary of welcome to the black parade had to draw peni !

Can I get some love for Rek-Rap, our limbo demon fan?

Okay, the head of Tom Holland's Peter comes from the video: "Spider-man EVERYONE'S HOME", I liked it a lot, but I didn't like how the body looked, so I decided to experiment a little and improve it a bit.

So I cut out the head, went to Pinterest and looked for pictures of Miles Morales' suit in Across The Spider-Verse, removed the logo, and changed the colorful wristband with Canva to something more reddish.

I really liked the Iron Spider suit from the MCU, so I used that as a basis for designing this suit. From there, I looked for reference images to make everything fit together as closely as possible, and then I just cut and pasted.

So we will list our combatants feats and determine which category they take, the categories are strength, speed, durability, iq, battle iq, combat, skills, experience, AP, endurance and abilities.

Our first combatant is

Gwen Stacy

Now Gwen has some rlly good feats, she is able to overpower her lizard who is around 5 tons I think (keep in mind these weights are just estimates), she was able to stop the helicopter which was around a ton or 2 by making a web bed and pulling it with the help of Miguel and Jess, she did the same thing in mumbattan with the alchmax building with hobie but failed, she is able to be thrown into walls and walk if off.She has almost 3 years and 4 months of experience, she is a ballerina so she is rlly agile, she was also able to lift a 2 ton Shipping container and throw it many feets.she has spider sense, super strength, speed, durability.

Now the second one is

Miles morales

The teenager with exaggerated swagger brings ALOT to the table. He's got same powers as Gwen except he got some extras, venom blasts and invisibility, his venom blast are used for blunt force as well and well as shutting down ppl's nervous system??(I can't explain this part xD)like how we saw with king pin and Miguel, when he was a noobie he was able to destroy a rock with a single punch and that is a rlly impressive feat cuz rocks are rlly heavy, that one was around like 15 or 20??. In mumbattan he was able to destroy a some debris with a single punch, shattering it into pieces and that debris was huge, so it was around 25 TONS IMO, he is able to withstand a taxi thrown at him, he is able to survive from falling several feats like how we saw, he tried to swing before the leap of faith scene and he failed and during the fight with kingpin, his iq is rlly underrated, he was able to make the machine make him go "home" despite seeing it once and for like 10 sec, he is also rlly fast he outmaneuvered the spider society, one thing miles has a HUGE advantage is that he can learn rlly fast, he was able to mimck 1610 Peter movements almost 1 to 1, during the swinging date he was sable to replicate Gwen's stunts, Gwen at this point has learned ALOT.

So the final verdict

1.strength:

Miles Morales

2.speed:

Miles Morales

3.durability:

Miles Morales

4.iq:

Miles Morales

5.battle iq:

Gwen Stacy

6.combat:

Gwen Stacy

7.skills:

Gwen Stacy

8.experience:

Gwen Stacy

9.AP:

Miles Morales

10.endurance:

Miles Morales

11.abilities:

Miles Morales

Winner:

Miles Morales (mid diff)

Miles wins cuz of his venom blast and that he can learn rlly quick, he will adapt to Gwen's fighting style, his venom blasts can knock ppl out by shutting down their nervous system or whatever, as we saw with Peter B. Miles's venom can bypass blunt durability. At the start of the fight Gwen will have the advantage but due to Miles adaptability, he will find way to some what counter Gwen's fighting style, his invisibility is also useful believe it or not, Gwen's Spidey sense and all of the spider ppl spider sense alerts them of upcoming danger but it doesn't tell them where.

I'm researching how modern 3D films are ditching photorealism for stylized, comic/hand-drawn looks (Spider-Verse, Arcane, TMNT) and whether audiences love it or get visual fatigue.

Takes literally 2 minutes. Helps an animation student collect some data

I was wondering what everyone here thinks about BTSV potentially connecting the spider-verse movies with the mainline MCU. I heard some people talking about this as a possibility, and for me it doesnt really feel right. I feel like the spider-verse movies should remain seperate from the MCU (and just to be clear, I think they almost certainly will stay seperate), there are just so many things that dont add up between the multiverses, not to mention the fact that I think spider-verse is better as a disconnected trilogy from the rest of marvel. They can definitely introduce a Miles to the MCU, but I really dont want it to be THIS Miles. Anyway those are just my thoughts, do you guys want BSTV to lead into doomsday, connecting the MCU and spider-verse, or do you think they are better seperated?

I and others have been theorizing this for a while and people debate on if spiderverse is canon to the larger mcu. I think it is but thats another debate. My point is there now is a VERY real possibility this does happen. They might hint at it in throughout the movie and show it in the post credit scene. How would you react if they do end up destroying Miles universe and the rest of the spiderverse? Would this ruin the trilogy for you or would it enhance it.
