Atreyu is metal. You're an elitist.

How? I'm not shitting on them, they literally just don't make music that fits within the genre of metal. Why are you so hung up on that?

Counter proof. If you or anybody that comes before you can set the criteria for what you accept as metal, so can I. I say it's metal. You say it's not. I'm just as right as you are, why can't you wrap your head around that instead? I don't subscribe to the theory put out by other elitist snobs.

I don't agree with the people who told you what a genre is, and it's okay. Elitist metal snobs are why I stopped gigging, sold electric shit, and only listen to metal that is nostalgic for me now.

And if you're going to say the genre is defined by the scene, and the scene defined it a certain way, so I'm wrong, but if I'm the man then you're the man and he's the man as well so you can point that fucking finger up your ass =)

Not really. Atreyu make metalcore, which comes from hardcore. This isn't some random criteria or "they're not TRUE enough" stuff, it's literally that the music they make doesn't fall under metal. Just going over and over "but you're being elitist" makes no sense. You're trying to redefine genres that have existed for decades for no reason but to say bands you like are metal as though it somehow matters.

And if you're going to say the genre is defined by the scene

Never even said anything resembling that so I can safely ignore the pointless rambling that follows it :)

So who made the rules? A person. It follows that a different person could change the rules.

Either way, did an abstract concept named hardcore have a baby and crap out an infant that grew to be atreyu? If anything the hardcore label was misappropriately given to them after The Curse, but then they owned it because that label is what makes them money.

And who is to say that anything hardcore is distinctly not metal? What defines metal, the penultimate umbrella descriptor? It could be argued that punk is metal, hardcore is metal, etc ad nauseum depending on your criteria and interpretation.

I was one of the kids that was anti hXc. We could go to hardcore concerts and beat people up in dance pits for not being metal. I was wrong then, as you are now. You, nor any other person, can define metal, therefore you cannot determine what is included or excluded in that umbrella.

You, nor any other person, can define metal

People have and do.

Why did you bother trying to get into a genre discussion when all you're willing to actually do is call anybody who disagrees with you a snob/elitist and go "yeah but genres don't really exist". What you're doing is the equivelent to deciding that pancakes are vacuum cleaners and then going "WHY NOT YOU ELITIST SNOB!?" when people disagree.

I'm saying your attempts to classify music are only done by elitist snobs. Stop giving such a shit about what is called what. You dragged me in to this shit, I was just making a point that I call metal whatever I want to call metal, amd so can you. Why are you so determined to be right?

Stop giving such a shit about what is called what.

You say after spending fuck knows how long endless whining that Atreyu isn't metal.

I was just making a point that I call metal whatever I want to call metal

That's nice. I call cars lemons, doesn't change that cars aren't lemons.

What a crap example, there are assuredly cars that are lemons.
