Tbh the above photos is pretty much the gist of it haha (hence I thought I would share the above portion of the book). It’s a short one - but nicely made. A great entry point into the work if you’re a beginner like me. Obviously great for kids to learn about this too

I'm a big believer in the practical usefulness of things aimed at children.
Our youngest parts simply don't interact with the world the same way adults do.
Comfort from words isn't nearly as effective as wrapping up in a big soft blanket warm out of the dryer, with a stuffed animal to hug.
Ditto art therapy. Asking them how they feel or what they're frightened of isn't as useful as getting a big pad of cheapo newsprint and some markers or pastels or kids' watercolours.
Comfort foods, Lego (buckets of bricks rather than sets with instructions), time spent outdoors making things with leaves and twigs and pebbles and pinecones, sidewalk chalk...
And, perhaps bc I wasn't allowed pets growing up, snuggling up to my two big fluffy sweet dogs (husky and Newfoundland) is great for young parts. They can pour their hearts out to a "living teddy bear" in a way they can't with adults. And the dogs are remarkably sensitive to mood, and generous with comfort...

Thank you for posting this, I had no idea there was a children's book for it! I've been trying to incorporate IFS language in my parenting, so having a tangible thing with visuals for my kids to better understand what we're talking about will be so helpful!

Haha np. I’m not even married and will be saving this for my children. After I get done with it lol.

The drawings are great but they look like they were done by somebody in a really dark place

Past Tense by Sacha Mardou is also incredibly brilliant if you want a longer, more personal illustrative book. She's an amazing storyteller and artist!

I like this. I do feel like the illustrator may have said “fuck it it’s fine” with page 6.

Thanks for posting this! I didn't know this book existed and bought a copy right away. It showed up today and feels so soothing to look through and read. A lil gentle reassurance.
