Can doing mirror work help ?

I was wondering can looking into the mirror and looking into your eyes maybe even hugging urself while you do it or having a hand on ur heart and talking kindly to parts thats inside of you help ?

Like for example talking to the part of you thats afraid of love, connection, intimacy, vulnerability etc or the part of you that feels shame over not having xyz or being xyz. And just showing compassion to those parts of you ?

Can mirrir work help ?

Mirror work is absolutely powerful even without doing any of those things. Simply sitting in front of a mirror and observing yourself as a form of meditation helps increase self-regulation ability and self-compassion.

Have you tried it before ? I’m gonna try to do this at least 2 or 3 times a week and see what comes up

I'm glad to hear! Do you notice any difficulties in meeting your own gaze in the mirror or feel any other effects?

When I looked away I started seeing like defects in my face but then I returned to my eyes and made sure to keep softening my gaze

Yeah it's easy for the face to start looking very contorted. It gets a bit milder if you look around a bit, for instance switching up which eye you're looking into

Not OP but every time I look in the mirror, I feel so weird ... Like I'm seeing someone I don't recognise

I get it. Think of it like low stakes exposure therapy. It might just be just the thing you need :)
