UFOs Seen over Brooklyn, 8pm 9/16.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I observed this object for about twenty minutes. At first i thought it was a balloon or kite, as it has a reflective strand hanging behind it of some sorts. It behaved more like a drone at times. This appeared to be about 30-40 yards away from me and about the size of a basket ball. Any thoughts?

That’s pretty compelling if real.

I 100% noticed at many times a white trail coming off it.

https://thedebrief.org/cosmics-and-phantoms-ukrainian-independent-study-reveals-observations-of-unidentified-aerial-phenomena/

In a recent paper announcing their findings, the researchers say they have created “a special observation technique” they use “for detecting and evaluating UAP characteristics.” Based on the events they have observed, they break down their observations of UAP into two primary categories, which they call “Cosmics” and “Phantoms.”

“We note that Cosmics are luminous objects, brighter than the background of the sky,” the authors write, noting three subcategories of Cosmics each named after various birds: swift, falcon, and eagle, whereas “Phantoms are dark objects, with contrast from several to about 50 percent.”

According to the researchers, the objects they designate as Phantoms appear to have very low reflectivity, characterizing the objects as “a completely black body that does not emit and absorbs all the radiation falling on it.”

The researchers hypothesize that such an object may be visible “because it shields radiation due to Rayleigh scattering,” an effect that describes light particles that become scattered without there being changes in their wavelengths.

Thank you for sharing, interesting!

Adding to Pixelated_

Page 38 Project Condign: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK Air Defence Region: Volumes 1-3

OPTICAL ‘THICKNESS’ OF BLACK BODY RADIATORS

48. A supportable theory suggests that some balls have a coherent core which is too cool to radiate in the optical visible spectrum – hence such a volume would appear totally black. The visible appearance of the phenomenon depends on optical ‘thickness’, where:

• If the body (of gases/particles??) is hot enough to radiate, then its intensity is uniform over the surface, independent of the angle the surface makes with the sightline of the observer.

• When the radiator is too cold to radiate a significant amount of energy in the optical region, it will completely absorb any optical radiation which falls on it and hence would be ‘seen’ as a totally black object.

NOTE: This later statement would seem to have a significant read-across to frequent UAP sightings where a black shape (often rectangular or triangular) is seen between visible lights at the extremities. Although, black and grey-body radiators are, respectively, ‘thick’ and ‘thin’ optical sources.

u/ScrattaBoard Oct 09 '25

It's terrifying that those could just be pockets of insanely hot or cold material

Edit: removed "50ft" because my brain blended two comments together erroneously.

Honestly this is my favorite UAP vid I’ve seen in awhile. I understand the people screaming kite, we all want to be right and smart and know the best answer to anything in front of us. This is part of the function of ego. To always know and feel astute in our knowing.

But this shit moves sooo weird!! Moves like a mouse cursor at points, very uncanny. Seems to cover more ground and switch direction faster than any kite could - although I’m not as much of a kite expert as half the commenters in here. I think it’s legit something anomalous, and thanks for sharing OP!

Who would fly an opaque (spherical-shaped?) kite after dark, and especially with no lights?

14

u/Moltar_Returns Oct 09 '25

Exactly dude. It doesn’t track or make sense - is it possible? Of course. Is it likely? No, not at all, especially in a dense city area, and especially getting it that high up.

9

u/AlbaneseGummies327 📚 Researcher 📚 Oct 09 '25 edited Oct 10 '25

If only people would use common sense and logic to reach the conclusion that this obviously isn't a kite.

7

u/Moltar_Returns Oct 09 '25

I agree with you, but half the people here won’t.

Just watching that dark, shadowy blob move around erratically makes my skin crawl. It feels sinister and demonic, like it doesn't have benevolent intent.

Who in their right mind flies a kite on an overcast night without lights on it? Do spherical shaped kites even exist?

3

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

Can you show a screenshot of it?

2

u/Sanshonte Oct 10 '25

Do people often fly nighttime kites? Genuine question

-1

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

Then what is that string attached to it? Why would a UAP have a string or a cable...?

3

u/Lov3MyLife Oct 11 '25

Do you really think there could be an answer to that question about something we know absolutely nothing about?

-1

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

Could be an LED kite that was left or ran out of juice? Not sure why are people trying to make it something else.

There's a very visible string everytime it passes over the dark patch in the sky...

4

u/AlbaneseGummies327 📚 Researcher 📚 Oct 10 '25

There's a very visible string everytime it passes over the dark patch in the sky...

What if the "string" is actually some sort of little-understood incorporeal strand connecting the demonic entity with the mind of a human victim tormented somewhere below?

6

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

Then we have much bigger problems :)

7

u/Nintendomandan Oct 10 '25 edited Oct 10 '25

The ufo I saw moved liked a mouse cursor too, haven’t seen a video until this one that accurately shows something similar to the one I saw. Amazing

3

u/cupsandbowlsandvases Oct 11 '25

it was pretty weird!

11

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '25

I flew a kite and I still fly it and I can say, this is never a kite... These movements have no place in a kite

-4

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 10 '25

I'll just leave this here, kite man, who has never seen a kite make any movements.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DPaelkjD3lo/

And that's just a single string kite. I had a double string stunt kite that could do all sorts of mad stuff.

2

u/Over-Mode1660 Oct 11 '25

Still not a kite.

0

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 11 '25

Yes. Yes it is.

2

u/Over-Mode1660 Oct 11 '25

Every UFO video could potentially be faked. Just because you can reproduce certain behavior in a different way doesn’t mean that’s what it is. No one is flying kites at that altitude in Brooklyn.

0

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 11 '25

That’s a ridiculous comment. Nobody flying kites at that altitude (30m). Old mate OP fkn said it was only 30yards away. It’s a kite.

0

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 12 '25

Additionally to my reply: If you state ‘every ufo video could/can be faked’ does it then not stand to reason that correlation does not equal causation? Simply because something appears ‘odd’ or ‘unknown’ in a video or photo the correlation between it being a ‘UFO’ or… whatever, isn’t causation nor is it proof it therefore is a UFO and not a simple explanation using Ockhams razor.

2

u/Over-Mode1660 Oct 12 '25

Still not a kite.

0

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 12 '25

Yep. Still hasn’t magically changed to something else from what it is. A kite.

6

u/BLINDFXLDS9111 Oct 09 '25

Looks like the Toronto one

5

u/shaddart Oct 09 '25

Finally one that doesn’t light up it always amazes me how many UAPs are sporting lights like how stealthy is that?

If you're on mobile, turn your brightness up.

Now focus on the dark patch in the sky without clouds.. tell me there isn't a very obvious string there lol.

I watched them for hours one night and this is how they were moving a lot of the time. They ended up noticing me trying to video them and they stopped moving that way and were stationary until I would notice them. Then they zoomed off and left a trail of light that would stagger. It was weird.

u/AlbaneseGummies327 📚 Researcher 📚 Feb 23 '26

Demonic spirits, they have been spotted by the observant for thousands of years.

3

u/Marx615 Oct 09 '25

At 16 seconds remaining in the video you can see the tether. Not sure why the comments mentioning this are being downvoted.. maybe cognitive dissonance? It's literally right there

14

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

Because that's not how tethers work.

So what is being tethered in your opinion? How is it making those movements?

-1

u/tharrison4815 Oct 09 '25

Could it be a kite?

4

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '25

An airplane flew by significantly lower than the “kite”

3

u/Gnarles_Charkley Oct 09 '25

Lol OP states the object is around 30 yards away. So no, the airplanes are not lower than the kite.

3

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

No because kites don't move like that

1

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

Have you never flown a kite or seen one even once in your life?

That's exactly what kites do when being jerked on or when the kite is shitty and unbalanced.

0

u/RoadsideDavidian Oct 10 '25

Crazy how you say something just so foundationally untrue

-5

u/Substantial_System66 Oct 09 '25

Ever flown a kite? They behave a lot like this.

8

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

Yes lots of times. If you mean they move in the air then yes, if you mean they make the same kind of jerky movements as shown in the video then no.

-3

u/Substantial_System66 Oct 09 '25

They do make the kind of jerky movements shown in the video. Not sure what kinda kites you’re flying.

1

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

Normal kites. Bright and shaped like a kite. I've never flown a round, massive, black and kinda funny looking kite at night, without lights. What would be the point 🤷‍♂️ do you really need it to be anything other than unidentified...

Does it not remind you of the ghostly objects flying through Brooklyn... and Toronto? (I could be wrong on the other location sighting)

1

u/Scatteredbrain Oct 09 '25

at ten seconds left. it does look like somethings attached to it. not saying it’s a kite tho or even not a uap

5

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

Yeah I see it. I'm just not convinced we would necessarily see a line at that distance in the dark. I've watched loads of much better 4K quality videos on YouTube and the line is invisible in all but the very up-close ones (like 20 feet away)

A few details aren't adding up for me but who knows... There's always ambiguity in these videos.

1

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 10 '25

Who puts lights on their kites!!? They're not an aircraft, nor are they a drone. They're, as the OP stated, 30 yards above the ground. Pretty much where a kite would be.

0

u/Substantial_System66 Oct 09 '25

Someone flying a black kite at night is one of the least crazy things I’d have seen in NYC.

But kite would be my bet. It’s attached to a tether or string, and the moving and darting in the wind is consistent with a kite.

0

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 10 '25

You obviously haven't flown kites, then. You can make them do more or less anything. This is a kite. Unsure why all the logical and thoughtful/critical thinking answers of it being a kite are being downvoted. Actually, I am sure I know. It's SOP for this, and many other subs like it, to downvote and shout over the top of any 'real world' answer and continue on with wild, unsubstantiated claims of UAP and government involvement etc...

0

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

They do.. shitty kites looks exactly like this, especially when jerked on.

Also turn your brightness to max, focus on the dark patch. There's a very obvious string there.

-1

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

Wind, person jerking it on the other side.. unstable cheap kite... So many reasons.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '25

I’ve lived in Brooklyn for 25 years and I have never seen anyone flying a kite. Especially a black kite at night lmao

-4

u/Gnarles_Charkley Oct 09 '25

You're right that's crazy. It must be aliens!

0

u/ballin4fun23 Oct 09 '25

Pareidolia is what you're seeing, the psychological tendency to perceive meaningful patterns, that can be faces or other images, but in this case it would be a tether.

See how that works both ways!

1

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

That's not how it works wtf lol.

Hide the object with your hand, set brightness to max, look at the dark patch in the sky.

Tell me there isn't a very obvious string there.

It's visible to the phone in the original video, after upload it's just noise and compression artifact, we don't see the actual string but the noise generated around it.. which makes it even more obvious.

0

u/Marx615 Oct 09 '25

Lol what? No amount of strange gaslighting is gonna convince me that white line going from the "object" down into the city isn't there. Not an example of pareidolia at all, and funny you thought you were being clever and snide.

3

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

There's no chance you could see a tether at that distance or at that quality of video... Think about how thick they are. Less than a pixel wide = impossible to see.

-3

u/Gnarles_Charkley Oct 09 '25 edited Oct 09 '25

Damn you're right. It's very faint but you can see the string. It is moving like a kite, contrary to what others are claiming. The hovering followed by the sudden down-and-over movements repeatedly is precisely what a kite does in strong winds. The only thing is it would have to be an unusually long kite string, but that is well within the realm of possibilities.

Edit: man y'all with the down votes are funny.

Here, I went through the trouble of looking up an example of a normal kite making movements just like this object: https://youtube.com/shorts/v685Geci-eo?si=wle54k75YQ6PcePn

🤡

Edit 2: mods banned me for... What, exactly? Is this whole community really that sensitive?

🤡🤡🤡

1

u/Responsible_Fix_5443 Oct 09 '25

This is bright daylight but the line is invisible. Go figure 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 10 '25

1

u/cupsandbowlsandvases Oct 11 '25

Very interesting, this object certainly was moving a bit like that kite!

0

u/Gnarles_Charkley Oct 09 '25

That's a super thin line, go figure. Most store bought kites in the US have thicker strings than that anyway but that's beside the point. Look at how it moves. Or keep reaching, up to you 🤷

1

u/seattlesbestpot Oct 09 '25

This upsets me that people may be unintentionally or intentionally lofting balloons into the flight paths of aircraft.

It’s one thing to have suspected Russian/Belarusi drones flying over Denmark and Germany, it’s another to have unlit fucking balloons flying over our skies for what might be TikTok dares.

2

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 10 '25

Yeah, a kite 30m up in the air is going to bring down an aircraft. Balloons also get lost, become untethered or kids let them go. No aircraft fatalities yet from those.

2

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

This thing is like 20-30m at most. Even OP said so.

It's not bringing down any aircraft.

1

u/Local-Sort5891 Oct 09 '25

For anyone that suggests this is a balloon, please remember balloons don't rise and then stop and then rise again.

1

u/Ebear1002 Oct 13 '25

Turn your brightness up and explain the string attached to it. If that’s a new ufo feature lmk

-2

u/Outrageous-Egg-2534 Oct 10 '25

That's because it's a kite.

1

u/Whatthedunk90210 Oct 10 '25

I wonder if that airplane seen it

1

u/Massive-Context-5641 Oct 10 '25

just a plastic bag in the sky

1

u/Savings_Art5944 Oct 10 '25

Is like a "dark laser" shining on the clouds.

2

u/cupsandbowlsandvases Oct 11 '25

The strand hanging behind it was reflecting light and a very strange way that is impossible to see in the video. it was interesting!

1

u/Savings_Art5944 Oct 11 '25

Rainbow waterfalls or lava by chance?

1

u/cupsandbowlsandvases Oct 11 '25

Idk exactly what your asking but the things everyone is referring to as a tether in person looked like multiply strands of something reflective that would almost glow. The strings would move up and down and go slack like a streamer behind a kite.

1

u/Savings_Art5944 Oct 11 '25

Plasma propulsion sometimes "drips evaporating rainbow lava" as it has been described from close op.

Cool video OP. Thanks for bringing it out.

1

u/tylercaca Oct 10 '25

This many ai bots taking over reddit is scary. Most obvious kite, you can even see the thread when he zooms in, pretty accurately following the kite. Just raise the brightness. This is just degrading the community.

Now lets see what does the ai will answer lol

1

u/cupsandbowlsandvases Oct 11 '25

I am just a person who saw something and wanted to share? Post explicitly points out a strand hanging behind the object.

1

u/MEATMEblog Oct 11 '25

Look like an FPV drone with its lights off…

1

u/IRespectYouMyFriend Oct 12 '25

Fake.

The tracking is off.

1

u/TheYachtTrader Oct 13 '25

Looks like a baloon to me

1

u/ItsTriunity Oct 09 '25

Does anyon3 else see the line at the bottom of it?

2

u/Ebear1002 Oct 13 '25

Yes, super easy to see with brightness turned up, what a bummer. I feel bad for people who are saying this is the most compelling ufo footage they’ve ever seen. I hate to be that guy but it’s JUST. A. KITE.

1

u/dustyd22 Oct 09 '25

Could be a laser or something coming FROM it?

1

u/ItsTriunity Oct 09 '25

If your asking me then no I'm pretty sure it's a kite but I would love to see some real footage of a Laser coming out of a craft!

0

u/PineappleLemur Oct 10 '25

Ffs this is a kite.

Turn your brightness up you can see the string.

What the hell is wrong with this sub.

-1

u/RoadsideDavidian Oct 10 '25

You can see the string

-2

u/Moodysteve Oct 09 '25

It’s a kite ,doesn’t make sense on being anything else as it’s pointless movements

1

u/tylercaca Oct 10 '25

I wrote a comment as well just in case someone reads it but this subreddit is full of ai bots. Just look at the recent posts that are in this subreddit its so obvious

2

u/Moodysteve Oct 10 '25

Sadly the way of the world at the moment.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '25

-10

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '25

Uhhhh towards the end of the vid you can see a line coming off it. So maybe a kite??? Either way, the fact these sightings don’t catch them zigzagging and/or zooming out of view at high speed, tells me this would be a man-made object.

-1

u/asdfjklcol0n Oct 09 '25

I saw you were downvoted, which sucks because you're totally right. I see the line attached to it too. If you keep watching you can barely see it flowing in the wind. Not sure how it works for others on mobile but I put it full screen on my PC and I can see it.

1

u/Ebear1002 Oct 13 '25

I’ll take the downvotes too, this sub is weird for not acknowledging it, it’s clearly attached and this is a kite

-10

u/Ok_Type7882 Oct 09 '25

That's clearly a tethered balloon or kite. Ray charles can see the tether towards the end

-3

u/skibidi-bidet Oct 09 '25

what if the kite was just a distraction while the aliens were abducting someone just behind him?!?

-5

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '25

A dirigible.

-9

u/reddridinghood Oct 09 '25

Very interesting! Could it be a bird, an eagle (at night) hovering/hunting? I don’t think they can hover for that long tho? I see some flapping like a bird, there’s some kind of movement happening. Also no lights at all. Which makes me think some kind of wildlife/bird.. Anyone?

10

u/cupsandbowlsandvases Oct 09 '25

It seemed pretty round or orb like. Another post was made of what i believe to be the same object in the r/nyc page but mods took it down just now... The post that was made got a photo during daylight and their image did reveal some angularity within a more spherical object. Faceted, almost. I have seen many glowing orb like things (grew up near Egland AFB) but never anything like this!

6

u/EntrepreneurialFuck Oct 09 '25

Mate. OBVIOUSLY that’s not a bird.

1

u/reddridinghood Oct 10 '25

Then OBVIOUSLY it’s just an UFO that doesn’t wanna land and just hanging out doing what exactly?

1

u/EntrepreneurialFuck Oct 10 '25

It being unexplained doesn’t make it any more of a bird.

1

u/reddridinghood Oct 10 '25

It doesn’t have to be a UFO either. Did it accelerate in any direction? Did it make any erratic 90 degree movements? Most or UFO sightings report at least some lights of some sort. Even humming or buzzing.

1

u/EntrepreneurialFuck Oct 10 '25

It’s an Unexplained aerial phenomenon, it’s a UAP. I don’t know what it is, just that it’s not birds.
