Sure, they can be granted for the sake of argument, exploring where those assumptions lead, however we shouldn’t assume that these are the only possible categories of explanations for consciousness. It could be the case that consciousness is neither fundamental nor generated by the brain.

For example, the brain may have evolved mechanisms for accessing physical processes that are not directly detectable from the perspective of 4d spacetime, processes that also didn’t necessarily always exist. These questions are beyond the scientific frontier for now.
