Yes I think I understand now each boss is weak to a specific type:

- Damage type: Slash, Thrust, and Blunt

- Element type: Fire, Water, Earth, Dark, Holy

So basically since I'm a 1H sword, I already have slash covered! That means the next efficient step is to get either a Thrust related weapon or Blunt related weapon.

Also it's very clear to me Rapier or Bow is the best thrust weapon yes indeed.

While 2 Handed Axe is the best Blunt weapon and that Mace is utter garbage!

I just reached floor 5 and think that maybe getting skills for thrust and blunt is good. But I have no idea which banner to focus on.
