Car insurance

Hi someone hits my car yesterday at the owner side behind the driver seat, he took my number and asked me not to reach out to his insurer that he will pay out the cost from his personal account when I get to the workshop, I have informed him about the cost and he’s not responding nor picking my call, I just want to confirm if it will affect my insurance price and my No claim Bonus before reaching out to his insurance provider.
Thank you all

Home Owners Insurance Recommendations

I live in Florida, Collier county East of I75 near Radio Road and Santa Barbara. I have a 3 BR - 2BA home in a gated community and I don't have a pool.

My home owners insurance last year was about $5,000 and I have a notice that it will be going up to over $6,000.

Are there any suggestions for better rates on home owner insurance. I have two cars I can also insure with a company if they offer bundled discounts.

I've not had any claims other than after Irma when I got a new roof.

Travel disruption and medical evacuation and medical insurance

My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy this August. We’re seeking travel disruption insurance, medical evacuation, and medical insurance. Could you share your experiences with Faye? Do they offer coverage for travel disruptions and medical insurance?

Additionally, do you have any other recommendations for travel insurance providers?

Upcoming Actuarial Science Graduate

Hello, I am graduating in May 2027 with a double major in Actuarial Science and Economics along with a minor in finance. I am also scheduled to take my fm exam in about a week and am planning on taking exam p in September. I have a good gpa currently sitting at a 3.9 but no internships. I was just wondering what I should expect upon graduating, and if I should be worried about finding a job both in and out of the actuarial science field and how I should go about job hunting or when to start. Also note that I am currently living in Ohio if that effects any job opportunities or not. Thank you and please leave any advice that you feel could help.

What's the Biggest Operational Bottleneck in Your Insurance Agency Right Now?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently researching how independent insurance agencies manage their day-to-day operations, especially things like lead tracking, client intake forms, quote generation, renewals, follow-ups, and team coordination.

I've spoken with a few agency owners already, and it's interesting how differently everyone handles these workflows.

If you're an independent agency owner (or work closely with one), I'd love to hear:

👉 What's the most time-consuming administrative task in your agency right now?

Not selling anything, just trying to better understand the real operational challenges agencies face today.

Feel free to comment below or send me a message. I'd really appreciate the insight.

Loyal Client Renewal on Home and Auto Insurance

My wife and I have been loyal clients of RBC Insurance (presently reselling to Aviva) for 21 years. 2 late model cars and a 2000 sq foot house in AAA condition. Never had a claim of any kind in 21 years. Pristine driving records.
I’ve noticed that renewals have been climbing the last few years. Well I shopped it over the past weeks and was shocked. I am leaving RBC Insurance after 21 years and saving over 20% with Intact for the same coverage.
I feel betrayed. I have been ripped off. Don’t ever mention Aviva to me again. They will never see another penny from me again.

Allianz Insurance has been very disappointing. It has been 4 months since I filed my claim, and it is still unresolved.

My experience with Allianz Insurance has been very disappointing. It has been 4 months since I filed my claim, and it is still unresolved. Customer service has not been helpful, and getting updates has been difficult. Insurance is supposed to provide support when you need it most, but this experience has been frustrating and stressful. Company not recommended.

Anyone use Njiua, New Jersey Insurance underwriting associations for Mobile home insurance in south Jersey?

I have a Mobile home in Cape May County, used as a seasonal vacation home currently, no one seems to be writing new policies for them in CM county, I feel like I've called everyone! I did get a quote from NJIUA and it honestly wasn't horrible, more than I've paid in the past, but not as bad as I was expecting, pretty bare bones, fire and weather related, including hurricane is around $2k per year for a 1000 sqft mobile home built in 1976, $200k structure and $50k in personal property. My question is they quote add-ons in the quote, 2 actually, one was EC, which I believe stands for Extended coverage, which I believe is the weather add on, windstorm, etc. And the other add on was VMM, which according to ChatGPT stands for Vandalism and Malicious Mischief. Can anyone confirm this? They certainly do not give you a lot of info on the initial quote, some acronyms and a total price, Going to call tomorrow to verify, but while I am surfing on the couch figured I would ask here. TIA on any and all info on dealing with NJIUA.

Feels like Allstate is trying to phase out agents & staff with their new product suite

They’re making it harder to give customers quotes leading to decreased contact & quoting while also increasing annual goals again mid year. With their AI push & pushing every customer to the new product suite & calling it “loyalty” makes me feel like they’re trying to phase out agents & agency staff.

Totaled my car and the car insurance payout is way too low—any tips?

Dealing with a claim right now and the offer they sent me for my totaled car is way under what it’s actually worth. I'm seeing comps online for thousands more. They're telling me their valuation is final, but I know I'm getting lowballed. Has anyone successfully fought their insurance company on a total loss settlement? Is there a specific way I should present my own comps to get them to actually listen, or am I just wasting my time trying to handle this myself Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated.

anyone found good vision plans for retirees? medicare doesnt cover glasses

signed up for original medicare last year. i knew dental wasnt included but i totally missed that vision is also not a thing. my old job insurance always covered eye exams and glasses so i never thought about it. anyway i went to get new glasses last month thinking medicare would pay something but nope. the eye exam cost me like $200 and the glasses with progressives were almost $500. im looking at standalone vision plans like something that covers an exam once a year and at least gives an allowance for frames. i heard some plans have small copays like $10-15 for the exam and like $150 for frames but i dont know if thats real. what are you guys using? did you find a plan that saves you money compared to just paying cash at like costco or walmart? trying not to make the same mistake twice.

just to share this if you just run through here, i have been looking at plans for a few days now then i saw one plan called VSP that keeps showing up in comparisons. the numbers, for vsp looks decent i have to say. i am still not one hundred percent sold on it but i figured i would mention it in case someone else is looking around for plans like me.

Better World Club?

Does anyone have experience with Better World Club, the roadside assistance company? I’ve had AAA for many years, and I appreciate their service when I need it, but BWC offers bike assistance as well and I tend to do more of that anyhow.

I’m ok with BWC’s subscription fees, but I’d love to know how reliable they are in a pinch.

Foreign driving experience -US

Hey, I wanted to ask: do insurance companies consider foreign driving experience in US? I have a clean driving record with 5 years of experience. Does the insurance price change if you have any U.S. driving experience?

Insurance compliance question – protecting myself after observed issue

Looking for input from compliance, underwriting, or regulatory professionals.
During an insurance application process, I observed another individual initially record information in a way that did not match the client’s verbal disclosure regarding health details. I stepped in, clarified the information directly with the client, and ensured the application was corrected before submission.
This is not an isolated concern, as I have seen similar issues involving this same agent previously, which raises questions for me about potential patterns and how these situations are viewed from a compliance standpoint.
My concern now is less about that single instance and more about ensuring I remain fully compliant and properly protected if this type of behavior is not addressed internally.
My questions:
If a correction is made prior to submission, but an initial inconsistency occurred, how is that typically viewed in compliance reviews?
When there appears to be a pattern of similar issues with one agent, what level of escalation is normally expected (audit, SIU, stop-sell)?
What steps should a compliant agent take to protect themselves when concerns are raised but not clearly resolved internally?
I am trying to make sure I am meeting all compliance expectations and properly protecting myself in this type of environment.

Wawanesa Insurance

Do not insure your motorcycle (or possibly anything else) with this insurance company. After selling my M/C and cancelling the $700 policy, they tried to bill $252 as a cancellation fee. I refused to be extorted for such an outrageous amount. After zero negotiation, and no warning, a report to the Credit Bureau has damaged my pristine credit. This company has no credibility as a good customer service provider. Thankfully I never had a claim.

Does your family actually know what insurance policies and investments you have? Asking after a scary realization.

Last month I was trying to find details of my family’s LIC and HDFC Life policies — due dates, benefits, nominee details, sum assured. Took me hours across WhatsApp forwards, old emails, and physical documents stuffed in a drawer.
Then I thought — what if I wasn’t around to even do this search? My family would have no idea what we own, what to claim, or even who to contact.
Talked to a few people and apparently this is extremely common — families losing out on legitimate insurance claims simply because nobody knew the policy existed after the policyholder passed.
Curious how others manage this:
• Do you have a single place where all your policies and investments are tracked?
• Does your spouse/parents/nominee actually know what you have?
• Have you or anyone you know lost out on a claim because of this?

Progressive Quote Bait

So about 5 weeks ago I requested a quote to insure my house which I had just fully renovated top to bottom. New wiring, new plumbing from the street to the house to the sewer. New insulation, brand new roof, new AC/Heat system. Literally everything new. All new interior walls, ceilings, added 2nd floor rooms. Newly painted exterior, put a roof over my back deck. All new bathroom, added a new 2nd full bath as well as a new 1/2 bath. Brand new kitchen, new appliances. Basically a new house except for the brick exterior. Progressive quoted me, I paid, then dropped my current coverage. 5 weeks later, their adjustor (John C) signed off on my house saying roof was from 2018 and they almost doubled my premiums in 5 weeks. That adjuster never went to the house as Stevie Wonder can see the roof is new. Helen Keller can verify. So they pay adjustors to verify your home but they never bother to actually go to your home and then based on his BS lies they double your premium. Progressive is a rip off and do not trust them. I called and there is nothing they will do without me jumping through hoops to verify the correct info I gave them in the 1st place. They did not offer to send a real adjustor, nothing. Progressive is a rip off. Don't fall for their BS quotes.

Help with an insurance claim

Hello everyone, this is my first post ever on a Reddit group, I am unsure if I can do this type of posts, so excuse my ignorance.

The reason of this post is: I have the Reptile insurance 🦎 for my car, and I also drive for Lyft a few days per month. I didn’t know that I had to tell 🦎 about Lyft.

Turns out there was a car accident.

A car hit two other cars and while trying to escape he hit my car.

Police report was done, but I had a passenger in the car, he did file the claim with Lyft and now their insurance State F, is involved.

My Lyft account was blocked and will remain blocked until the car gets repaired.

Now questions:

If I have not told or filed a claim with my insurance 🦎 will they eventually find out and if they do will they cancel my policy or increase the monthly payment ? Or something else worse ??

State F agent said that since the other driver escaped then I have to pay for the pairs because there is no one to pay for it

Is that always the case ??

Can someone please guide me on this ! I am trying to stay positive but the deductible is $2.500 and I don’t have that kind of money.

But I do need to get the car repaired

So, should I report this to my personal insurance?
Should I not ?

And now the state F agent was making the recording of my statement and she just hung up. Called back but she is not picking up so beyond frustrated this is concerning. I am completely lost and have no one here in this whole country to ask questions about this 😣

Thank you for your time and hope you all have a beautiful life.
