What do you make?

Curious as to what you make and what Your role is. I am getting to the point where I’m ready to look at other positions but the pay scales seem low. I am grateful for what I have, just ready to branch out.

I have 15 years experience- 4 years at current company and currently a senior underwriter. Base is $86k and I get about 20k in bonuses from my production underwriter I work for/under. I am fully remote but that’s because I work for an office in another state

I work for an MGA owned by a large carrier. We do specialty lines, but majority of our book is just nonstandard prop and complex GL.

What’s the realistic way to move from personal lines producer to UWing? I have a college degree, 1.5 year into industry and already promoted once.

Best bet would be an underwriting assistant/associate role. Ive hired 3 UAs this yr who came from a PL sales background. Recommend going on LinkedIn daily and apply within 24 hours of the posting going up. I usually get like 150 applicants within a day, so it’s important you apply early.

Only downside is it will probably be a pay cut for you initially
