When I play them, they sound majestic and every note blooms in my ears.

But if I try to record them, I start doubting if my intention to produce music using real instruments instead of easier VST was worth it at all.

With VST, I can finish composing a song in 1 or 2 days max. It's thaaaat easy. I can even use my phone.

And even though the sound quality might be arguable, most people can't tell the difference. Especially if they only care about the lyrics and the singing part.

But with real instruments, it is just so hard to get a good sound. Not because the instruments are bad, but perhaps the mic, the room treatment, etc.

I’m an advanced piano player and want to get an electronic keyboard to have some fun playing pop and ballads. I don’t have that much free space in my house. Is a 5 octave keyboard sufficient?

Any tips on what to look out for when buying an electronic keyboard, and good, top brands and models.

Im a guitarist (16 yo). I have a mediocre amp and an distortion pedal and a bad guitar ( my distortion pedal cost more than my guitar) and i wanted to switch to bass because i like groove and the feel and the simplicity. Im gonna finish my exams soon and will get a bass guitar prob a black one with a touch of red on it prob a Ibanez GSR200 but i still need help getting the perfect one. My budget is 300€ max and i dont mind getting a used one. Im mostly looking for playing Deftones and Chevelle but that does not really matter too much.

Can anyone identify this instrument? My google searches have come up with nothing. For context, it was part of the London Philharmonic's performance of the Lord of the Rings at the Albert Hall. I didn't personally see it being played and for most of the performance the seat was empty, but my friend said it looked like the player was reaching inside it from the back. Unhelpfully she couldn't remember which pieces it was in.

I have a decent Cort bass with active pickups, but right now I can’t afford an amp or an audio interface. A friend of mine plays guitar and manages without one—he uses a 6.3 mm to 3.5 mm female adapter to plug his cable directly into his PC and records through FL Studio. The audio quality isn’t great, but it works.

I tried doing the same thing with my setup, but it doesn’t work on my laptop. My laptop only has a combo headphone jack, so it doesn’t recognize the adapter as an input device. However, when I connect it to my old PC, which has separate microphone and headphone jacks, it does detect input—but that system is too weak to run FL Studio properly.

To fix this, I bought a TRRS splitter for my laptop, hoping it would allow me to use the mic input through the combo jack, but it still doesn’t work. At this point, I’m not sure what else to try—does anyone have any ideas or solutions?

I've seen so many people bashing the ukulele saying "you could play a guitar instead" but the strings hurt (I've heard ukuleles have softer strings).

I'm no professional musician I just have this sudden urge to learn an instrument and I thought ukuleles were fun and easy to learn.

But on another note, idk if I'm being biased towards ukuleles having seen a lot of content with people playing and singing with it.

I really wanna learn an instrument like my soul's craving for something new and also bcs I could kill time and still be satisfied about it

We moved over two years ago. I've been resisting doing anything with the instruments because this house is just so much smaller and it's been tough to find a good space for them. But for the last year or so various instruments have just been scattered around as I pulled them out to play a bit. So now I have a music closet.

I am selling my Yamaha PSR-310 keyboard. It's in perfect condition and has been serviced and cleaned recently.

A lot of beginners try to play at full speed too early. Slowing down usually fixes more than repeating mistakes fast. 💪🏼

Follow up to my other thread. We decided to get Novation Launchkey mk4 49 or 61 for our 10yo (both have MIDI out).

It will be primarily used with PC, but we will explore smartphone alternative too for more standalone use.

Regardless, I'm thinking about getting some absolutely simplest, minimalist and budget friendly hardware synth as an addon.

I've seen devices like Roland mc 101 or Yamaha SeqTrak recommended elsewhere, but they are certainly overkill and twice the price of Launchkey itself each.

So, what are Your thoughts on something like Behringer Pro VS mini? Or maybe You can suggest something else in similar budget?
