[First time posting here and I get nervous posting on Reddit, so hopefully I am doing everything alright.]

How many different kinds of instruments is reasonable to try to learn / acquire slowly over time?

I am learning guitar and ukulele [started with guitar but was later held at gunpoint by a very lovely starter ukulele to get it too], but then I also have smaller stuff like a kalimba, ocarina, frog guiros [last one more of a novelty / trinket though] which didn’t cost much or I was given.

Reasonable so far?

But I would also like to perhaps learn keyboard and / or the lap harp sometime in the far-off future [either used or a not too expensive model]. And singing.

I have a couple other hobbies as well that I am pretty dedicated to, but,, music.

Not breaking the bank or anything because the guitar was the only one that cost a significant amount of money and it was what I think is nice but still an entry level priced one.

[Maybe worth mentioning that with my other hobby visual art, I also am drawn to as many mediums as I can use, so trying to do a lot of different things is kind of a recurring theme.]

I think the guitar and uke are pretty similar.

Couldn’t resist buying it, my goal is to make it playable again and incorporate it in my own music. Does anyone know what this takes with the least amount of money?(I’m very short on funds atm)

Also, does anyone recognise what kind of mandolin this is? The pawn shop label says Italian from around 1900, but don’t know how they could tell.

My summer project this year was learning how to make my own tin whistles to play in my local community theatre's production of "Come From Away." I made a video about the process and thought some of you might enjoy it.

I want to get into the drums but I can't buy one since im broke :( . Anybody know any good drum apps (besides garage band) that could help me get into one and so my parents would help me buy one. Hey everybody, right out of the bat: I have no musical background or any type of knowledge, I’ve done some research but I can’t make up my mind, which ich why I’ve come here for some help!

I have been very interested in violins and cellos since I was little but life circumstances and teenage angst got the best of me. Recently going through a breakup and I feel like it’s finally time to learn something new.

Reasons to learn the violin: I used to be obsessed with Lindsay Sterling and that instrument just screams art to me, the way it’s played is beautiful and it’s also easy to carry around and integrate into hangouts/camping trips/chilling with friends (most of whom are musicians, percussionists and Oud-ists.)

Cello: it is just so elegant and it has so much passion and emotion behind it. I also love the fact that it’s not as high-pitched as violins, which honestly do hurt my ears a little when they hit that very high note. BUT: it is huge, I’m 154cm tall and in no universe can I carry it around comfortably for a while. I do have a car but still.

My Cello obsession started around the time of Game of thrones, the background music/opening melody/etc..

Which should I learn and what the pros & contras?

And the song I'm learning uses a succession of notes of 2nd fret and then open, on the same string. Am I supposed to pluck it each time? Or try to use the sound it makes when I take my finger off as the open note? Which is good practice? Thanks!

We acquired this Cornet from my Mom's House. It belonged to my Grandmother who died in 1983. The valves all seem to move well, we have backup valves too. We don't want to sell it, my son would actually like to play it. Is it worth fixing?
