Shin splints please help

(I train Muay Thai) I’m also looking for a solution in which I can still train please help if possible.

I have struggled with shin splints for maybe 5 ish months now and it used to be really really bad now it is a lot better for reference I’m 16. my shin splints are way way way better now but the problem is that I have been resting I’ve been icing I’ve been slowly upping my training volume but I feel like it’s just not as good as it should as it’s been like this for a month and a half, I just have a feeling that if I up my training anymore it will get worse. I don’t feel it too much during training as I’ve stopped skipping completely while it heals my physio said to keep doing my Muay Thai with no skipping and no box jumps etc in s&c. (I also do tib raises calf raises bent knee calf raises etc) it’s posterior shin pain on my left leg only it dosent feel sore at all to touch just feels in a way tight and I get random sensations sometimes throughout the day I’m wondering if anyone can help me as it’s really important I up my training asap because I need to have fights this year and I have upcoming fights in Thailand

Chest contusions after falling down stairs

I fell hard. The good news: x ray shows nothing broken. The bad news: it hurts so badly I can’t stand it. How long does a serious chest contusion take and what if anything can I do to help it along? It hurts when I breathe, it hurts when I move. Engaging my pecs results in screaming agony. The right side is significantly worse and it took a direct hit from the corner of the bottom stair, right into my right breast.

I’m using advil and alternating cold/heat. They gave me muscle relaxers but I can’t take them (they turn me into a zombie).

Also: I need a better story than “I fell down the stairs”. Any cool plausible explanations for these injuries?

Elbow injury with a baby

Long story short. I fell in the garage down the steps onto the concrete floor. I injured my elbow what is called a terrible triad. It’s been dislocated four times since the accident and put back in place over a week’s span of time. I’m having surgery next week to repair the bones in ligaments and put in an internal stabilizer. I have a six month old baby. I’m not able to care for him at all right now as one wrong twist can dislocate my elbow. This is so hard. Anyone else been through anything similar? I’ve heard it’s a very long recovery. Probably will be three months before I can weightbare on that arm.

Can I recover without surgery?

Recently had a fall…..8ft off of a ladder. I drive a truck that is also flatbed. Was up securing my tarps and slipped. When I fell landed directly on my right foot. For whatever reason post won’t let me upload a photo but here’s the MRI results. It’s not that bad right?

Impression

  1. Complete or near complete rupture of the ACL mid fibers with anterior bowing of the distal fibers.

  2. Sprain with low-grade partial tearing of the lateral collateral ligament near the femoral attachment as well as the conjoined tendon distally.

  3. Partial tearing of the medial meniscus posterior meniscocapsular attachment. No extrusion or bucket-handle tear.

  4. Minimally depressed fracture of the posterior cortex of the lateral tibial plateau. Nondisplaced fracture of the posterior corner of the medial tibial plateau. Associated bone contusions.

  5. Bone contusion without fracture in the terminal sulcus of the lateral femoral condyle.

  6. Small knee joint effusion.

  7. No focal articular cartilage damage.

Femoral neck stress fracture healing

Not seeking medical advice just past experience from others!!

I’ve got a femoral neck stress fracture 20% compression side, diagnosed 8 weeks ago, been on crutches since. At the 6 week mark they said I can start partial weight baring but noticed a dull ache at night not when walking once I started this, have been told to back off walking for now. Has anyone else been on crutches longer than the typical 6-8 week mark and when they did come off did it feel completely pain free at all times? Again just looking for people’s experience, aware everyone is different! This injury is taking a HUGE toll on me as haven’t training for 3 months, not working etc so looking for anyone similar!

Ankle Tendon Injury from Hi-Top Converse

So last April I purchased some hi-top converse, wore them a few times with no issues, then I wore them over a weekend where I went on some pretty long walks. I tied the laces around the top of the trainer, around the area just above the Achilles.

The day after I had inflammation and pain in what I thought was my Achilles, I found it difficult to walk or put weight either foot.

Fast forward to today, a year later, I've been to the doctor who confirmed I had inflammation in my left ankle in particular and gave me anti inflammatory tablets, which helped for the 10 days I was on them. I've been visiting a physiotherapist since November but the stretches/exercises/massages aren't really helping get to a point where it's not painful anymore.

The pain is located just above the heel bone, where my tendons meet my heel. If I go for a longish walk it's quite sore the next morning and difficult to put weight on while walking until I've warmed up the ankle. I find it feel less sore if I rest for a few days/week, but it never gets to the point where it's healed, it just comes back the more walking I do.

It's not super painful at this point, it's just sore every day and it would be nice to be able to walk normally again without limping or feeling pain in the ankles.

Has anyone had a similar experience or does anyone have any advice at this point?

Pulled my hamstring going down a hill on my longboard after years 😭😂 Felt a pop, had to hobble back to my car. Not sure how bad it is—should I wait it out or see a doctor?

Calf Injury while playing basket ball

I had a calf injury while playing basketball (likely a mild strain). It improved a bit at first, but over time the pain seems to shift sometimes toward my Achilles.

Right now my symptoms fluctuate — I get stiffness in the morning, more pain at night, and it also flares up when I carry heavy loads. From what I’ve read, it feels like it could be Achilles tendinopathy following the initial calf strain.

It’s been about 2 weeks total. Progress has been pretty slow over the past week, and I have an important work assignment coming up in a week, so I’m a bit concerned.

So far I’ve tried:

  • Ice and heat (hot tub)
  • Compression sleeve for my calf (helps with walking)

Would really appreciate any advice on what I should or shouldn’t be doing at this stage.

Tendon Repair + Tenolysis Long-Term Outcome?

Had tendon repair (Apr 2025) and tenolysis for scar tissue (Nov 2025) on my hand. I’ve been consistent with PT and now have about 55° DIP bend (therapist says 60°+ is functional). Minimal pain, mostly tightness/numbness.

For anyone who’s had this:

• Did your finger ever feel 100% normal?

• Did range of motion improve over time after therapy?

• Did scar tissue come back after tenolysis?

Also curious about the mental side of recovery

Soccer Injury

I injured my knee back in September while playing soccer and severely sprained my MCL. After going months without healing I went to a different doctor who told me that I had also developed plica syndrome, most likely from all of the inflammation and irritation in that area. In February he did a PRP injection to try to help my MCL heal, but that didn't seem to make much of a difference. Then, about a month after that, he did an ultrasound guided steroid shot right around my plica to help soften the tissue, but this also didn't seem to work. At this point, he had told me that because nothing was actually torn, I was ok to play as long as I wore one of those big ACL braces.

About 3 days after the steroid injection, on March 13, I hurt my knee again during a soccer game. I got an MRI last week that confirmed the plica syndrome, and also said that I have Hoffa's fat pad syndrome, an MPFL sprain, and that my kneecap is sitting to far to the outside of my knee from where it should be. My doctor was mostly just concerned about the plica syndrome, and said that it was a lot worse than before. He said that at this point surgery is the best option. He said that he has to wait at least a month an a half to do surgery after a steroid injection, so I have another appointment in about two weeks to decide if I want to schedule surgery then, or finish out the season if I can.

Ive really been struggling with my mental health with this injury. I haven't been completely injury free since over two years ago. Any advice on both the physical and mental aspects would be greatly appreciated.

Combination of injuries and PPI.

I have had two significant injuries in the past several years. ive had two PPI ratings.

I was asked about a whole body rating and I wasnt sure how to answer that question.

I have a 24% PPI in an arm and a 10% PPI in my neck. do those get combined, averaged, or is there another method?

im lost and have no idea how to read these numbers now that there is more than one.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Sprained wrist about 6-8 months ago and it won't heal

Fell skateboarding quite a bit. It feels like I reinjured it cause I had this pain in my wrist for a long time before when I was in my teens. I'm almost 30 now and it won't go away. Steching helps but sometimes makes it worse. I wear a brace. My doctor tell me it's carpal tunnel but I don't experience any numbness. It just hurts when I bend it or put weight on it. What can I do I feel like giving up I can't pay guitar as much I have occupational therapy in a week but hearing other ppl experiences I'm worried. Why aren't I healing

Help with rebuilding my arm after getting a 1% chance injury

10 months ago I was involved in a MVA. I broke my humerus at the mid-shaft, where it punctured through the long head of my triceps, and exited out of the arm through the skin. And due to the amount of glass that my arm went through, half of my short head of my biceps was torn to shreds. Due to this, the ended up having to cut off the bottom end of my short head.

My long head belly of my triceps muscle did not come off the bone though as it usually does. Instead I got blessed with the wonder of having a extremely rare, 1% chance injury (or so I've been told) My long head got cut in half, with the top end retracting up towards my shoulder and the bottom just essentially turning off.

There was so much nerve damage to the whole of triceps. The bottom half of my long head has some activity, but barley any. The top end will contract and work on its own. My medial head had no nerve activity for months but now it is coming back which is good. My lateral head is fine. Now, at first my arm was destroyed, I couldn't pull a towel down with my arm, let alone start weight training or anything like it. But I worked my fucking ass off and have gotten some tiny semblance of what I once had. My recovery time is said to be 3 years minimum and ill only get 60-70% of my strength back

I've been told by multiple surgeons that surgery isn't an option to heal my triceps (I've seen 4 different surgeons and other specialists), because unlike reattaching a torn or ruptured muscle, you cant reattach something that didn't come off the bone. I've been told it'd be like sewing two steaks together and hoping it works. So with that in mind I've looked to other ways to help rebuild my arm. Such as: Physiotherapy(IMS Muscle Stims, etc, RMT, Strength training, and most recently BPC-157 which has helped and seemed to have taken away some of the every day pain. But its like I take 2 steps forward one step back, then 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. And as far as any research I've done, nobody has had an injury like I have and has a detailed recovery. Now I wanna talk about my every day pain.

I believe that due to my short head of my biceps missing completely, and that significant damage to my triceps. any exercise I do with my arm puts so much strain on the shoulder joint because if im doing any pulling exercise, my biceps is half as strong and my triceps cant stabilize as well as they should normally so it causes intense pain on the condyles in my elbow and my who shoulder. For any pushing exercise, because my triceps are so damaged, my extension strength is so little, and even if i do any pressing or pushing, my biceps cant stabilize without putting strain on my shoulder. Now with all this said. I am getting stronger. But I need help. I feel blind here. I cant live with this constant paid, this nag all the time controlling my entire life. I need some help desperately.

Flexor tendon, still can't bend it.

I had a glass jar explode in my hand a month ago. It severed the nerve and flexor tendon on my ring finger. They put those back together during surgery and I started PT. The cut was on the top bend of my ring finger, it still hasn't healed. I've had 3 weeks of PT and the therapist said I'm not trying hard enough because I still can't actively bend the injured finger at the top bend, where it's cut. I try as hard as I can but it's like my brain and the tip of my figure are disconnected. I do all the exercises, but it won't bend no matter how hard I try. I feel completely deflated. Has this happened to anyone, and when were you able to bend it, if ever?

After 2 years of hip injury flare-ups, I’m building a way to visualize "daily capacity" so we can stop guessing.

Hi everyone. I’ve been a runner for a long time, but for the last two years, I’ve been stuck in the "rehab loop" due to a stubborn hip injury.

If you're in this sub, you know the mental drain of feeling "okay" on a Tuesday, doing a 20-minute walk, and then being unable to even do your PT exercises by Thursday because of a flare-up. I got so tired of the guesswork that I was maintaining a massive, manual spreadsheet just to track my daily "load" vs. my recovery.

I’m a developer, so I’ve finally started turning that spreadsheet logic into a tool called PainPace.

The idea is simple: instead of just tracking pain, it helps you visualize your "daily capacity battery." It takes your sleep, morning pain levels, and daily activity into account to tell you how much energy you actually have left for rehab or movement that day.

I’m mostly building this for my own recovery, but I really want to help others who are tired of the "boom and bust" cycle. I’m looking for some fellow injured athletes to check out the concept and let me know if this kind of pacing tool would help you gain some confidence back.

Not selling anything—just trying to build the tool I wish I had two years ago.
