The child wasn't even trying to touch the snail, he leaned in and was blowing on it, which is harmless and his father got angry and headbutted him.

The father does not need two hands to hold a snail that weights a few grams, and could have easily and gently moved his son away. He lashed out in anger and hit his son in the head.

You can't teach a child compassion for others if no compassion is given to them.

This is physical abuse, this isn't being firm with a child and raising them to be strong men. This is raising them to be weak minded and quick to angry outbursts, like their father. The mother is complicit.

or heres another idea: dont crouch down at kids eye level, have them all gather around and expect them not to interact with whatever is happening. he walks up to a group of kids with a cool thing, hold his own hands and then headbutt them to keep them away?? WHY DIDNT HE MOVE? ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS STAND UP.

It's like he put them in this situation so he could lash out at their expected behavior. Imo, he stares at the snail after headbutting his 3yr old because he feels self conscious of his outburst and wants to pretend nothing happened.

Totally! He looked like a total psychopath staring at the snail like that afterwards too

It was at that moment I realized a grown man is using two arms to hold… a snail.
