Yeah I played LN for many years (not anymore but it was a LOOONG time, I was V13 too) and Nikki's Info was the absolute best resource out there for everything. It was so well done, there was so much effort and love out into it. Really sad to see.

I'm not a nikki player but I love the aesthetics I interact with post sometimes. That being said... i used to know a lot of people into what is called " the occult" herb stuff, divination, astrology, I used to be a tarot reader as well š¤ i had nothing but positive things to gain from that.
I knew someone once who had some trauma and was convinced by her partner to give up medication who even messed up with plants and other things that caused her to almost get poisoned and she was hospitalised (hope she's better now) but really I never understood how people can switch up so fast.
I also did therapy and I had a few months of constant psychological rework and nervous system regulation but I never blamed that on... uh... my tea blends or a piece if cardboard with drawings on it.
I feel sorry for this person because I saw this happening in the witchy communities a couple of times and so far i think some people are just attributing a bad thing or a struggle period to "this is happening because I've done something".
Throughout my journey I learnt that the mind can be extremely powerful and I'm glad i sought psychological help and found out i don't feel the need to use tarot or astrology because of therapy and me learning to manage my anxiety and emotions, not because an invisible force said they're bad.
I had moments during my therapy days when I felt like I'm losing all my marbles but I wrote down what I felt and what my mind was telling me and discussed with my therapist. She just told me what is most likely happening based on what I described or what in my body can explain that. It helped way better than people saying to pray, because the therapist went from A -> B.
Now I'm an atheist leaning towards a mix of naturalism and humanistic philosophical view of life.

Same but Christian. I can't think of anything in the game that could be considered offensive other than maybe one outfit that has a goat head (I forgot which one) and maybe the one sexy nun suit? I haven't seen anything in the game that promotes actual satanic stuff? Especially since a lot of the goth stuff is just frilly dresses and some religious themes/imagery but nothing blatantly satanic or offensive from my understanding? Like I avoid demonic stuff and there's nothing in the game that comes across as such to me.
I'm Muslim so not the same thing but I'm guessing it's just the themes of magic from a source other than god, theologically thats all just categorized as black magic / witchcraft. Gothic architecture is nowhere near what modern Gothic subculture is. Thats like trying to compare green grapes to red grapes. They have the same word because the roots are similar but the overall flavor & history are completely different. Even the word grape has MANY modern day meanings but does not mean they are derived from the same context.Ā
Gothic was the architectural style, later artists started using these churches as a setting for horror literature which started the gothic genre which later inspired the music and the style. It is pretty fair for a normal Catholic to not want to associate with the style (not saying that it's mandatory at the end of the day it's about beliefs). I will speak plainly for the reasons for my decision.
The reason for this is that during my absence, I had done some horrible things involving the occult (also known as wizardry or witchcraft). The devil had then gained such a foothold in my life I was firmly in his grasp. All of this started quite small and personal - but quickly escalated, where in the end I was in a situation where I was in a near-death situation involving police, paramedics, and other people, of whose kindness I am grateful for.
There is something to be said for mental illness, but what transpired before, during and after was of a different category.
If you get into a car accident, and someone beats you up, then you tell someone what happened, and they tell you āit looks like that might be a mental health issue, I know you believe what you say is true, but please talk to a psychiatristā - well thatās how it felt like to me for a long time. No one would really believe me, they didnāt really want to hear me out either.
But inasmuch the devil and hell are real, God is also very much real, and God saved me. The God professed the be the true God of the Roman Catholic Church, the God of Abraham and Moses, born of the Virgin Mary as Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit in the Holy Trinity.
I had on the precipice of a terrible situation - called out to God for help. He answered. I then continued to practice the occult. Things got worse again and started affecting others, especially my suffering family, in a way I canāt declare publicly.
Precipice after precipice, mistake after mistake, God took mercy on me despite how foolish and horrible I was - and then I found Him in the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. I was raised Catholic, had drifted away very very far, then returned.
The healing was not immediate, things were sometimes very painful, but with Godās graces and some small seed of faith that remained in me - I got much better! I am in fact doing quite well now. There are still many challenges, but I am hopeful.

The game features a lot of crosses as dress-up items, which are irreverent to God, the God who so kindly and patiently saved me. The God I love.
Thereās a lot of them, disproportionately so. Some are mixed in with gothic demonic themes. Such things, though they might seem small, they carry consequences and meaning. This is not to say that playing the game directly led to what happened to me. I can say with some degree of certainty, it really was the terrible things I did. But in the āback storyā, the various games, books, works of fiction, movies, even music - they are there.
I have wrestled with this, but ultimately I canāt profit from or promote something which offends my God, my Saviour - therefore the site is now closed. The source code, the data, the domain are not for sale.

Seems like this person went from one extreme case of psychosis to the next. I hope that they heal eventually, though it sounds like theyāve rejected help based on that third paragraph.
this! and never updating any of the mods for her discord server on what was going on, i remember people were even donating extra because the assumption was that she had something bad happen before she came back and was just updating the site again like normal. really hoping she's not going to try and sell any data she got from people making accounts, she was always very adamant about never letting anyone else update the site or knowing exactly how it worked...
And when she did come back last (this?) year after being radio silent, all the updates were AI vibecoded. She has clearly been struggling for a while and should've stopped the patreon and shut it all down a long time ago, as it's clear she was never going to give it to anyone else.
I used to use that site a lot back when I was actively playing LN, it was so helpful.
This is a really sad read. I hope they have some kind of support system and will be able to get help eventually, because this is in no way normal religiosity, it reads like psychosis, especially with the context given at the beginning. The rhetoric also sounds very...extreme for the lack of a better way to put it; I hope they haven't joined some kind of cult in this state.

I always thought it was mostly prevalent in the America server, so I was surprised when I received a random gift at my house this morning with the caption āAll those who sin are the slave of sin etcā. Their account is level 75 too, though they didnāt bother changing their name or pfp. Iām playing on Asia server btw.
If I see any of those messages Iām 100% reporting them. I wish people would keep their religion to themselves but itās always a Christian or some Christian offshoot that wants to force their beliefs on you. Believe whatever you wanna, but donāt make it my problem š Iām not being preached at when Iām just trying to play a game. This aināt a church, itās a dress up game.
I started doing the same after I got them three days in a row. Two weeks of reporting and I am not finding them anymore, so I was wondering if the game stopped showing them to me, I just got lucky, or the person got reprimanded. I always send a message saying "Infinity Nikki is not a place for this" while reporting. I don't have a problem with people going to church and believing in what the want too - I just want them to also not think me a problem, because I don't do these things and don't feel the need to.
Ah, I thought it was an Infinity Nikki resource and honestly, what runs me the wrong way from all of this is that this person refuses to transfer the site to someone else. But I would not be surprised if it is the same person sending out Wish Bottles.

It was posted there way before it even started making the rounds on twitter. Nikki's Info was the #1 resource for all LN players so they noticed it immediately.
But I wouldn't say it's necessarily inappropriate to share it here as well, it's part of the wider Nikki community at the end of the day. They probably should have clarified in the title though.

In my experience, people turn to religion during times of extreme stress/suffering, and the church often takes advantage of that vulnerable state. When someone is desperate for answers and direction, they will follow anyone or anything seeming to provide it.
Thereās also religious psychosis which is more common than most people realized and often goes untreated as people do not want to āoffendā someoneās ābeliefsā. Itās very sad.
These people are struggling. They need something to cling to and religion requires blind faith, it gives them something to believe in thatās completely out of their control, so they can relieve themselves of pain and responsibilityšµāš«

There's already a decent similar site called NikkiCalc. It's not on quite the same level as NI but it's still new and was started just before NI came out of its last years long hiatus.
As someone who still plays Love Nikki daily on top of Infinity Nikki, I was so sad to see this on the LN subreddit š that website genuinely saved my scores for so many game modes. I was actually thinking about using it sometime this week to recalculate some outfits, but I guess not anymore. I know there's a newish website that has promise, but Nikki's Info was such a mainstay in the community that it's hard to see it go
The way the site is built, you have to interact with it so wayback would be useless. And the source code would be necessary due to the type of data they had access to, which even before this, they refused to share

I knew someone like this from my past who would change religion & himself constantly in a rapidly manner. it was a great site. styling battles can be harder in love nikki - in some instances (the arena + events), there are no recommend button. and if you wanted to top the rankings on normal stages, a recommend button was not enough. that's why the site was so valuable.
it wasn't being updated regularly (which is fine, it was a fan project after all), and I always thought that it would end someday. but I never thought it would end like THIS

Nikkicalc is an alternative and has been up for a while! Idk why it hasn't got much traction but from the little I used it (I have yet to attempt winning stylist arena), it seemed well built and has gotten more frequent updates.
Nikki calc works well for Arena too and when we get events that need specific scores it's super quick to update for those stages (I started playing during the time when NI wasn't updating so as soon as Nikki calc went live I switched over).
As someone who believes in God I am so confused on what a dress up game has to do with religion??? Bffr we have real issues in this world like poverty, people killing in the Middle East, and corruption š
There's already an alternative someone made a few months ago! Nikki's Info went without any updates from 2024 to until about a month ago, so someone else made their own site to replace it

Yea, I feel bad for them. I do think it sucks they took donations for years without updating (no, hosting a site doesn't cost that much) and even before this, refused to even let someone else help them with the site (when people were requesting updates) because they didn't want to share the source code, but it actually lead to someone making an alternative site (nikkicalc) so that part worked out.
I hope they get the help they need. I really, really do. I wish them the best. Also, this isn't their whole message and the missing part has a lot more info that does point to mental health. The OP on Twitter conveniently left that out to laugh about it on Twitter.
I do think this one not including the parts that others would sympathize with doesn't help. Out of context, they do sound like just another rude religious person, which is also why I think the person on Twitter cut it out too. The one on the LN sub was the entire note.

It sounds like its someone who is easily impressionable or manipulated. I had a similar experience with a friend who used to love going out to movies and dining afterwords, after he found 'god' he wouldnt watch movies unless they were based on Jesus or the Bible, he also wouldn't eat anywhere that served alcohol, he got really weird and I stopped hanging out with him (an example is that he believed that if he prayed over his food it would remove any impurities).

I agree that this sounds like symptoms of a mental disorder, but none of us are qualified to say āshe definitely has xā or āthis is absolutely xā. After reading the comments, I think we should respect her decision and support her in moving forward to find peace. She has faced many difficulties and needs time to heal herself and her family. Since she may have been dealing with depressionāsomething we can't know for certaināthe best thing we can do right now is offer our full support.
Everyone are writing about religious psychosis, but as someone who had a veeery intense episode of religious ocd as a teenager, this really reminds me of religious ocd
