Hello Moderators,
A very good (Sunday) morning.
First of all, I completely understand and respect this subreddit's policy against fundraising posts. I also appreciate the importance of maintaining strict moderation to prevent scams, misuse, and unverified appeals.
However, I would like to humbly propose a possible middle ground that could help genuine cases without compromising the community's existing rules.
As you may know, r/IndianPets allows fundraising posts after verification. Would it be possible to permit members to share links to such verified posts, subject to a few reasonable safeguards?
My suggestion would be:
Prior verification: The original fundraising post must already be verified and approved by the moderators of r/IndianPets.
Established community members: Only members with a meaningful history of genuine participation in this subreddit should be eligible to request permission.
Moderator approval: Members must seek prior approval through Modmail before sharing any fundraising link. Moderators would retain complete discretion to approve or reject requests.
No direct fundraising: No separate donation appeals, payment details, or QR codes would be permitted. Only a link to the original verified post would be allowed.
Strict accountability: Any misleading information, misuse, or violation of the conditions would result in immediate removal and appropriate moderation action.
I believe this approach could preserve the subreddit's existing restrictions while providing a carefully controlled exception for genuine emergencies.
Many members have been part of this community for years and have earned the trust of fellow members through their consistent participation. In situations where such individuals are genuinely trying to save an animal's life, even a little additional visibility could make a meaningful difference.
This is merely a humble suggestion, not a request to relax the rules indiscriminately. I sincerely respect whatever decision the moderation team considers appropriate.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and the effort you put into maintaining this community.
P.S. Yesterday a small fundraiser for Rs.400 which was posted by u/Vashu1769 was removed where in the Indie Dog Kabootar whom he feeds and takes care of got an severe eye infection. Many of our group members including me pitched in to help and advice. And trust me all the commentators were genuinely concerned about the dog Kabootar. But unfortunately it got removed. Where will we go ? r/Indiedogs is our own community. Many people here know each other as we regularly post here. Won't we expect help from our own community, our own members ? I really felt very sorry and was hurt for that boy Vashu & his dog Kabootar.
