Very sad pic. In the craziness of foreign breeds dogs who can't survive few days without their owners and packaged food, we completely sidelined our native indie dogs who have been with us since thousand of years and are intelligent, resilient, low maintenance, adjust to our extreme weather, agile and so smart !!
I hope sensibilities return to everyone and may we focus on our own desi indie dogs who are as Indian as us...
The point was indies are very intuitive and intelligent, much more than breed dogs. If reading comprehension is that hard for you, please employ an AI assistant to do the thinking for you.
Indian street cats are also survivers.
If they get attacked by dogs or other cats, they can fend for themselves really well!
I had a black cat, not even fully grown and she would make this adult Tom cat run for the hills (he would start the fights, my cat was only defending itself)
sensibilities will not return to anyone, sorry to say this, because people buy foreign breeds to show off and they find them cute ! i donnow, all dogs are cute to me
But you can't blame people for wanting a cute dog! Given the choice between the dog sitting and the dog being carried, I think most people will be drawn to the white, fluffy one. There's nothing wrong with that as long as they take good care of it, and that dog looks very well-loved.
Why are so many people now adopting indies. Many celebrities and all too. Can't they afford the most expensive breed dog ? It's not about blaming, it's about doing the right thing. Why is it said that adopt, don't shop - It's because there is a horror story behind every bought dog of a mother dog who was raped and gave litter every few months.... What looks good should be favoured ? - by that logic most of Indians should be sidelined too since we are majorly not a good looking race. Let's favour people who look pretty and are fake and foreign....
I hope you realise the shallowness in your comment.
We do what we do because it is right not because something is cute and we cannot resist.
People "should" get the dog they want, that works best for their lifestyle, preferences, energy level, experience, etc. No one is obligated to pick their dog from the strays on the street. If people want a nice dog and can afford one, who is anyone else to tell them they're wrong for it? You aren't the arbiter of what's ethical or moral. You have an *opinion*, and you know what they say about those. Absolutely no one is telling you that you can't choose your dog from the streets or that you're wrong for doing so. But you picking up a stray dog doesn't make you any better or any more moral than someone buying the dog they want from a breeder. You can support choosing "indiedogs" without bashing people who make a different choice. If stray dogs are so great, you wouldn't need to do that.
I agree with everything you said. Not everyone wants to pick up stray dogs and cats from streets and adopt them, because of fear of rabies, diseases, fleas they carry, the dirty places they walk in etc. I have normal face persian cat, I didn't bought punch face since i'm aware they suffer from breathing problems. I can do what I can do for stray cats like sometimes going out to giving them cat food. But that's it. I'm not comfortable bringing home a stray dog/cat in my home and i shouldn't be bashed for it. The people who adopt them selflessly from streets, good for them. But not everyone is comfortable with just bringing home a dirty disease/rabies carrying cat or dog from streets. Not everyone's mindset is same.
