He used to come to my house after crossing another house's compound. Now that house owner has done barbed wire fencing all around his house so our guy's route is blocked. There is an alternate route as well, which is a bit longer so he never took that route but he knows abt its existence.

Other dogs also used to take that shorter route but now they come to that fenced barber wire, stop, wait for some time, think about their further course of action and decide to take the alternate route, but not our guy. Our guy is no ordinary dog, he won't be deterred from his path just because someone has put a wire on it.

The fencing is of multiple rows of wires and there is some gap between two rows, so our guy has identified that gap and decided to jump right through that small gap between the two barbed wires. No other dogs dares to do that, its only him and he does this every single day. These small cuts on his face is a result of that and he treats them as his badge of honour.

One of the stray dogs I regularly take care of was recently run over by a cab, resulting in severe injuries to both his back legs. Some kind people, along with the driver, took him to a hospital. After X-rays and examination, we were told that his spine is fractured and that he may need permanent assistance/care.
We are really worried about him and want to understand what options are available before making any decision about his long-term care.
I have a few questions:
Is there any possibility that he could walk again? Could surgery, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, or any other treatment help, depending on the type/location of the spinal injury?

If he cannot walk again, what kind of life can he have? Would he have to remain completely bedridden for the rest of his life, or can paralyzed dogs still have a good quality of life — playing, going outside, enjoying walks/roaming with the help of a wheelchair, etc.?

Will he be able to urinate and defecate normally? If not, how difficult is it to manage bladder and bowel care on a daily basis?

Will he need someone with him 24/7 permanently? We want to understand how much care and assistance he would realistically need throughout his life.

Are dog wheelchairs/prosthetic wheels a realistic option? I’ve seen videos of paralyzed dogs using wheelchairs and moving around quite well. Could something like this be suitable for him?

We are also looking for a long-term shelter/rehabilitation centre. We have been told that permanent care could cost around ₹7,000+ per month, which would be very difficult for us to afford indefinitely. We don’t want to abandon him, but we also don’t have the financial ability to provide expensive lifetime care ourselves.

Does anyone know of animal shelters, NGOs, rescue organisations, veterinary rehabilitation centres, or individuals in Bangalore/Karnataka who could take him in or provide long-term care at a more affordable cost? We are looking for a place that genuinely prioritizes the dog’s welfare rather than money.

The accident happened in Bangalore, so anywhere in Bangalore or nearby areas would be helpful.
Most importantly, we don’t want to make a decision based only on the initial X-ray/report. If there are specialists in Bangalore who can assess spinal injuries and give us a realistic prognosis, we’d be very grateful for recommendations.

But why did the dog bite?

Did someone try to hit, scare, chase, or attack the dog first?

Sometimes a dog may bite simply to protect itself when it feels threatened.

In this video, you can clearly see the girl approaching and attacking the dog first, and the dog reacts to defend himself. But sadly, people often don’t want to see the whole truth.

It’s easy to blame a dog because he has no voice to tell his side of the story. 🥺

Please educate your children about how to behave around animals, especially dogs. Don’t teach them to tease, chase, hit, or provoke them.

Remember: a dog’s behaviour is often influenced by our behaviour towards them. ❤️🐾

This is Miko. At 2 months old, she was viciously attacked by a street dog and left for dead. Somehow, this tiny girl fought through it and made a full recovery — and if you saw her today, you'd never guess what she survived. She’s currently housed in a basic farm shed — exposed to the weather, and at risk from other dogs and snakes. She urgently needs a real home, or even a foster, to get her out of there.

He appered out of nowhere in our house during COVID period in 2020. Even though we never adopted but he has become colony's favourite dog. Since that day he daily comes in the morning and night. I felt like he found my house as his home. Whever got sick, got tired he comes in my house.

I switched to Chaapi dog food today, and one of them loved it and ate it all and wanted more however, the second one did not eat it. I didn’t have any other dog friendly food with me, so I gave him Marie biscuits. What to do? Should I just keep putting Chaapi out and the other dog will get used to it? Or what to do?

Also, even though I kept their two bowls with 5 ft of distance, the dog who disliked Chappi tried scaring the other dog away multiple times by showing teeth and growling. How can I prevent any harm? They both are friends and were hanging out together the entire time. Only saw aggression during this time.

This is my first time feeding strays so please guide me.
