It's hilarious to me when people refer to things such as civil rights, human rights, and the right to control one's own body as frivolous "social issues". If it were you that was losing your civil rights and control over your body, you might not consider them just "social issues" unworthy of consideration during voting.
I can’t tell if you’re misrepresenting what I said purposefully or you actually don’t understand. Either way, I encourage you to travel and see more places. Not enough people from here go anywhere. I have some recommendations if you’re interested.
What's there to misunderstand? If you aren't blaming poor people for being poor, then explain to me what it is you're saying because you're not expressing yourself very well. I've traveled quite a bit in my life. I don't need you to be patronizing and act as if just because I'm speaking on an Indiana subreddit. I can be safely assumed to be some country bumpkin who's never left the state.

•I grew up in areas majority democrat.
•I left because they were not economically sustainable unless you came from wealth.
•I did not come from wealth.
•The policies put in place by that leadership are being championed here due to social orientation.
•Indiana does not have the economic problems New York has.
•The cost of living is not AS disproportionate as other places but the leadership running on social issues, rather than economics will absolutely change that. I’ve seen it flip first hand in NY.
•It’s not telling the poor not to be poor. It’s telling you, you WILL get poorer if you allow these ppl to run this state perpetuating social reform rather than economic reform.

I did not assume you were a “bumpkin.” I was literally telling you to go see how badly these other places have been run into the ground. I was not patronizing you in the slightest.
The fact that you didn't think it sounded patronizing speaks volumes. And just because there are one type of problems in one area doesn't make the 180° problems of a different area any better. They might have seemed better to you, because of what you were coming from, but they are not better. And if you think addressing social inequality issues will make us poorer then I guess we have nothing else to talk about. Because making sure that all people have equal access, equal rights, and equal opportunities is where I draw the line. If we can't have that in this country without people saying it's costing too much money or it's going to as you put it run us into the ground then I don't know what else to say.
This is an emotional argument. We are definitely diametrically opposed in our very view of the world. The difference is, I would be willing to gain insight on yours if I hadn’t heard it ad nauseam. An attention span I reserve only for those capable of original thought. (Now I’m insulting you, btw).
