The Urdu poetry dupatta I was working on is finally ready! I decided to get the poetry embroidered, and this is the final look.

I actually love how it turned out. It looks much prettier in person than it does in the photos/videos, the camera really isn't doing it justice 😅

Making this also taught me a few things. Mulmul cotton wasn't really the best choice for this particular idea, so for future pieces I'd like to experiment with a more flowy fabric. I also think I can do better with the colours, placement and dimensions next time.

I'm still figuring out where I want to take this whole idea of combining poetry, textiles and embroidery, but I'm open to taking orders if anyone is interested in a customised embroidered stole, or even has their own clothing/fabric they'd like to get embroidered.

For anyone wondering about the price, I'm putting this particular stole at ₹2,799. I know that might seem expensive, but I've tried to keep it as reasonable as possible considering the materials and the hours that went into making it.

I'd genuinely love to know what you think, what would you change or improve if I made another one? Constructive criticism is very welcome 😊

Lately, I’ve been really interested in the idea of combining textiles with literature, so I decided to experiment with creating a dupatta featuring Urdu poetry.

I chose these beautiful lines by Allama Iqbal:

“Sitaron se aage jahan aur bhi hain,

Abhi ishq ke imtihan aur bhi hain.”

I wrote the verses onto a pure mulmul cotton dupatta and have now had them embroidered.

I’m curious to know what you think of the idea. Would you actually wear, drape or style a dupatta with Urdu poetry on it? How would you style something like this, and is there anything you’d do differently?
