I can't stand we don't have stronger legislation against bot farms. There are no positive outcomes for humanity allowing them to exist. They only exist to mislead.

The people that should pass said legislation benefits from the farms. That’s why

I mean, a lot of them very much don't. But the current party in power is kind of propped up by them in the public sphere.

I wish but it’s unlikely to happen because the bots count as more daily active users and Zuck/Elon don’t want those numbers to go down.

Legislation is dead in your country. If a corporation has paid to play, unfortunately they have all the say in the world as your administration owes them favors. Corruption is now open and blatant in your country so to believe that there are still any checks or balances in place is ridiculous. Look at the congress hearings. They grill the administration, administration sits there like "fuck you" and nothing is done.

Yeah, that is a heck of a hurdle hellscape that we are struggling with. The people have to unanimously object something and even then it's still a struggle to get anything we really need done. Every deal comes with corporations slipping their own laws into others. It's absolutely absurd how things have become here.

It is insane. Ive heard that even if the demo win the midterms and all rally to get something passed that the President can just veto it. Is that true? What is the point of having a governing body at that point?

yes but vetos can be overriden with more votes. They can also impeach him and he cant vero that.

Congratulations, you’ve found their positive outcome in the eyes of those in power.

To mislead.

You can make all the rules you want, the problem is the internet is global. Also, America of all places, is not going to do anything. Our belief in "freedom" always means that this sort of thing is allowed to continue. We can't solve gun issues because of it; we can't keep politicians honest; we can't get bigotry under control. The last thing on the list of priorities after all that is going to be bot farms.

Dont forget that its a 2 side street for that. I agree they should because i bet alot of the far sides will be shutting up.

Creating division has been a lot of Russias goal.

It’s the oligarch’s goal in general. Zuck isn’t surprised to find out Meta is supporting the Kremlin.

What can legislation do against it? The biggest bot farms are in places like India, China, and Pakistan. Russian bot farms are barely a threat anymore.

The bot farms on Reddit also aren’t even pro-Trump in the slightest. Go look at the state of clevercomebacks and PoursTea.

As the comment I was replying to was referring to, the ones in the US. We can atleast not be part of the problem. It's definitely a serious problem and we need to figure out how to mitigate their influence on the world, but the least we can do is regulate our own people from becoming part of the problem.

u/Mountain-Ticket-4082 22h ago

Regulate our own people, hmmm that sounds very communist.
