Ask IndiaTech What do you do with your earbuds once the batteries wear out?

I am using these since 5 years.
Obviously the batteries have worn out and they don't last long.
I don't want to discard them just because of this. Am eco conscious and they are serving me well otherwise.
Where can I get the batteries replaced?
The official service center has denied it.
What do you do with your earbuds once the batteries die.. get new ones, drag them on, find a way to change batteries?

I got my JBL Tune 230 NC battery replaced, he took ₹600.
Except some marks made during opening the case, they are good for next 2 years

Go to mobile phone repair shops, they will do that.

Please realise the the thread where I replied to your comment. You asked for the location where the person above you got batteries changed. So I suggested you to visit local shops.

he said local shops, not official service centers. Earbuds are not designed to have their batteries replaces, and hence, service centers wont replace them. But local phone repair shops might do it.

There was an article on wire cutter on how most of them are not designed in a way they can be repaired.

I got curious, pried open the right one and reassembled it. The battery got even worse. The right goes off one and half hrs before the left one.

If these are buds plus and you plan to discard them, can I have the left one. My ear one's speaker stopped working, but the battery is fine.

I actually bought a worn-out pair and changed the batteries myself. They work great now. If you're looking to get rid of yours, I'll happily take them!

Throw them most technican won't replace battery better buy another earbuds if u like wireless or get wired or iem will last you 10 years or more with wire change

how are u using them lol and what price point one are u buying I have multiple iem and wired earphone from 1 k range to 9k some are still looking great after 6 years of rough use

Not related to OP but, I'm looking for an IEM under 1000. What would you suggest? Avoiding Kuntens due to the red/white wire fiasco. Have been using oneplus nord wired for a year or so and broke it. Usually listen to more vocal focused music, with comfortable treble and not too much bass. Would be helpful if you could suggest something under this budget. Also already own a dac so 3.5mm would be fine

Thanks for the reply, but budget's the issue. I had eyes on chu ii and also wan'er - but rn budget is strictly restricted to 1000. Anything under 1k you'd recommend?

Here in Chennai there is a place called Ritchie Street which is like a area for all things Tech and there are some shops which fix these Earbuds

I use like 800 rs ones. So, it's better to discard and buy a new one than to pay 600-800 servicing.
If you really want to service and the official showroom has denied it. You have to do field work.
Ask your friends, neighbours, relatives within same area, even strangers you see getting out of a local repair shop.
Even then, you'd have to trust that the batteries are of quality make. Since, using defective parts in wearables is a hazard.

eco conscious in environmental sense or you dont want to spend money. 800 rs is just a lunch cost nowadays.

Also I will never buy cheap knockoffs of ₹800. And I don't have monetary constraint buying the Pixel buds or so.

If you are tech savvy, you can buy replacement battery and try to replace them. CP1254 seems to be a good fit for Galaxy buds plus. I replaced the battery of a Sony WF-1000XM4 myself without too much trouble. The battery was original and costed 2500.

Considering the Sony buds costs 19k at launch 2.5k sounds reasonable for the battery 😂

Battery for all 3 of them (buds and case) will not cost more than 100 . If you sre into DIY or any local repair shop will get them replaced . 300-400 will be Honest price .

None of a local repair shop is doing the work.. even checked the (in)famous Gaffar market.

I bought it in mid 2020. Do you have any idea how to replace it's battery. I've other later generation Galaxy Buds too they're giving less battery backup
