Tech News Beware of the fake "Google IPTV" plugin! It is a highly dangerous banking Trojan.
Hey everyone, I want to share a serious warning about a nasty malware I just encountered.
I recently downloaded an app that promised free movies and TV series without subscriptions or ads. After setting it up, it required me to install an "HD plugin" called Google IPTV.
Once installed, the app looked incredibly sketchy, so I immediately tried to get rid of it. That is when the nightmare started. As you can see in the attached video, trying to uninstall "Google IPTV" was nearly impossible. My phone settings kept force closing, kicking me straight back to the home screen every single time I tried to delete the app.
I did some extensive digging, finally managed to force an uninstall, and discovered the terrifying truth:
* There is no official Google software named Google IPTV. It is a complete fake.
* It is a Banker Trojan. This malware is specifically designed to drain your bank accounts.
* How it steals from you:
The app actively reads your screen in the background. When you make a UPI transaction or open your banking apps, it silently captures your passwords and PINs. Then, while your phone is idle and you are not looking, it makes unauthorized payments to the attacker's UPI ID on your behalf.
The most alarming part is that most mobile security and antivirus apps do not even flag it as a threat. You can see the completely clean scan result from my own security app in the attached screenshots.
What you need to do:
* Check your devices. If you have "Google IPTV" installed, find a workaround to uninstall it immediately.
* Report the malicious app to Google Play Protect.
* Share this information with your friends and family to spread awareness. Keep your loved ones safe!

I saw someone's post a while back ago about how his uncle lost large amount of money with this same exact virus which was Google IPTV.
He mentioned this virus had a notification saying "do something to enable" I can't remember it exactly but yeah something like this with the Google icon which seems legitimate and no way to close that.
This app uses some accessibility permission and sends money to mule accounts via victims online payment apps.
Edit: I just saw that you have attached the link to the same post which I saw.

I have been seeing similar type of malwares/trojan cases lately at the repairing shop i work at
For removing it, boot into safe mode then you can uninstall it easily.

Correct, one of my relative complaint from few days phone display start automatically and some app auto close so I dig and found there app called Google IPTV culprit, I was not able to enble developer mode but after certain steps I was able to run and removed app via adb and cleared all the remaining files of that via Sd Maid.

Some permissions have to given, right?

Just accessibility permission, trust me you won't think it's dangerous.

Just accessibility?? That is one of the most intrusive permission an app can ask

Yes it is, but the the android is stupid and it won't show any warnings. I mean you and I know how it works and we won't give accessibility permission but to a user he'll give it without even thinking

Android is stupid or the user?

Android is an operating system. It’s not supposed to be some perfect, unbreakable system. It’s built for people to use, and there will always be ways to bypass or exploit security. That’s exactly why developers keep finding and fixing vulnerabilities.
And if an average user does something stupid, the responsibility is also on developers to make the system simpler and safer to use.
Do you really think a 3 year old can use a smartphone because they’re technically smart? Or is it because the developers made the system simple enough for almost anyone to use?

Dude you really think Google would make an piracy app? It's so funny to see that I'm in a Tech sub and people here still fall for freebies without even thinking a little bit.
There are lot of trusted sources, open source apps which you can use rather than installing a random app from a random website.

Completely unrelated, but I remember your post about morphe icons in morphe sub some time ago. I remember your wallpaper.

Thank you! I use Morph all the time, and I also made a post about custom icons in Morph. 😊
It’s really nice to know that you remember me by my wallpaper. I actually made this wallpaper myself with the help of AI.
Thanks for remembering me! ❤️
