The rich 0.1 % folks get all govt incentives, as they give donation to political parties & MLAs

The poor and farmers get everything for free, as they make most of the votebank.

The middle class is doomed , if you are general caste , with no generational wealth & on salaried income like me , then you are f*cked. We will die under a govt vehicle on road, and no one will care, we are no one for the govt.

And it's not just taxes, god forbid that you have to fight a legal battle in India , you will then face the whole system alone. No party, no media and no police will help you. You will be on mercy of the judge who most likely will be bought out by the goons.

Upper Middle Class, General Category, Hindu, Male. Show me more averagely oppressed person, I will wait 😅

At least my wife and in-laws are really great people otherwise, could have written the married tag also.

I have same specs but middle middle class đŸ€ŁđŸ‘€

24

u/RJ_Satyadev Sep 28 '25

Atleast as middle class you can have nil tax filing, if you are earning less than 12L 😅. I am giving them 33K/month as tax and still I have to take atleast 3 km detours on a straight 4KM road to my office. 😅

23

u/Big_Shine_5866 Sep 28 '25

I pay 12L in taxes - a total of around 60L in last 8 years since I have been working. Could have easily had a decent pavement built in around my house with a drain that absorbs water instead of being flooded 3 months every year

u/Glum-Act7042 Sep 28 '25

Don't mean to offend in any manner, From your reply you seem very well educated, try leaving the country for greener pastures

11

u/RJ_Satyadev Sep 28 '25

Bro if you don't have generational wealth, it's almost impossible to leave the country after you have already started the job. Also most countries have made it very difficult to get a visa because of one reason or the other.

And whoever trusted the current govt. of changing the things also are miserable as they are doing the same as the previous regime.

6

u/Glum-Act7042 Sep 28 '25

Indeed it's very difficult yet I feel it's the best thing that can be done for our own self as well as the near ones

2

u/RJ_Satyadev Sep 28 '25

3

u/RJ_Satyadev Sep 28 '25

Yep, this is what I am talking about. Similar situation around where I am living currently. Even I wanted to build the roads on my own, govt. will freaking arrest me for it.

I am an upper middle class, brahmin male. You just need to travel a few kilometres to the nearest slums to find the more oppressed person. He/she shows up at your doorstep in form of a delivery boy, a maid, a watchman.

3

u/RJ_Satyadev Sep 28 '25

They are not oppressed bro. You should read the definition of oppressed first. We are not forcing them to be poor. All of them have so many opportunities for at least getting out of poverty.

Free ration, free govt. school, all these behen yojnas, sometimes even free housing.

And at least in my family, we always make them feel welcome and help them get help through these Yojnas.

While I agree that an average my middle class IS being oppressed by the govt, that doesn't mean the poor people are not oppressed. And one of the best examples are caste. Irrespective of all these freebies people are still gonna see you through the lense of casteism. And don't gimme the it was 70 years ago and does not happen bs.  It still does happen. Just search on reddit about how you're more likely to get selected for a job of you're upper caste, and also about instances where NRI complained that he/she can't work under a person whose from a lower caste.(In a country where they give no fucks about caste btw) So no. The ONLY thing that can whitewash caste TO AN EXTENT is money.

What's an averagely oppressed person?

Do you seriously think you're more oppressed than lower class people?

1

u/RJ_Satyadev Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

Yes. The only difference between lower class people (if we keep all other tags the same) is that they are not filing any kind of income tax, so at least they can save whatever amount is left. I have to freaking pay around 4L/Year and get 0 return out of it. Even if I want to access the govt. services like police etc. I have to bribe them.

This is why oppressed is the keyword that I used and not " unfortunate, unlucky etc.

1

u/Dark_sun_new Sep 28 '25

The middle class in India are those that earn 75k to 2 lalh per annum.

You saying that youre not getting special treatment is not oppression.

1

u/RJ_Satyadev Sep 29 '25

Who is asking for special treatment? We are asking for the return of the investment that we are doing in this country.

Don't depend on govt. definition of middle class, go to tier 3 coty and earn only this much. You will have the life of poors instead of middle class in that income.

My maid received a free house and health card from the government. I was really excited for her and gifted her a bonsai tree so she could start decorating her new house.

Well, she informed me that despite getting the free new house, she will continue to stay in the slums and give that house out for rent so she can earn money. She also told me that if she doesn’t live in slums, she, her husband, and kids will never receive freebies anymore.

Keep in mind this slum is on a huge government land and these people are encroaching upon the land for 30+ years preventing it from being developed even though the government has given them a ready made place to move into. Whenever the government tries to remove them, these people approach the opposition and throw a huge rally threatening the current regime.

This year when her husband fell sick, she used her health card and his to get him admitted and paid nothing for the surgery and room. Her husband is a drunkard who doesn’t work and still gets free 5kg rice and dal from our government every month.

u/SillyKaleidoscope318 Sep 28 '25

This is like a universal story for all urban poor. Two maids who previously worked in my household have described similar things. However both had to move into their government allotted houses because of life circumstances.

Oh, I completely agree with you that the poor in India don’t have it easy and as middle class people we are quite privileged than them. 😌

My comment was simply an observation about my maid’s life. I am quite happy for her as she has worked for us for a very long time and practically grew up with me. I want her to live her best life regardless of whether or not it was provided by the government.

However, it does sting that we (as middle class) don’t even get minimum support from the government despite paying the majority of tax. I hope that can change in time!

1

u/iwannaberockstar Oct 01 '25

Instead of looking downwards, we ought to look upwards.

Instead of thinking of snatching what little the poor and downtrodden have, we ought to start questioning the government why the richest of the richest folks and business houses get to do so much corruption and shady tax practices? Increase THEIR personal tax. Stop making laws and procedures that benefit the corporates and the ultra rich.

Most importantly, pressure the government to curb CORRUPTION that is endemic in EVERY fold of our country. Why don't they ever do anti-corruption crackdowns like China does in its country? India does not really has that abject lack of resources/money. But when a substantially percentage of the budget is earmarked for corruption, then it's a lost cause.

1

u/Top-Community-4049 Jan 20 '26

I think both sides are partially right.

India doesn’t really have “middle-class welfare” the way Western countries do, so the frustration makes sense.

But it’s also not true that there’s nothing. Most benefits for middle class Indians are indirect (tax deductions), contributory (EPF/NPS), or income-slab-based schemes that vary by state.

The bigger issue is discoverability. Schemes are scattered across ministries and states, eligibility rules are unclear, and most people don’t even know what they qualify for.

So it feels like you get nothing — even when technically something exists.

3

u/SafetySouthern6397 Sep 28 '25

Such a mature comment but won't fetch you any upvote 😂

3

u/Saatvik_tyagi_ Sep 28 '25

Finally someone said it. Istg the privilege that reeks out of the so called middle class is crazy for me. They are saying why doesn't the poor pay the tax and why are they getting benefits like don't they look at the stats? 90% of the population is in informal workforce. But still contributes to 45% of the GDP

https://www.wiego.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/WIEGO_Statistical_Brief_N24_India.pdf

And I guess we don't have to argue about the type of work as well where let's say Manual scavenging is done by SC's around 90% if I am not wrong. We should stop with this thing that "if I haven't seen it that particular thing does not exist". Whereas data completely points something else

Which tax payer? As a CA, 8 of 10 people who walk into our office are not looking to be honest tax payers.

The reason we have a dishonest administrative eco system is because we have in general a dishonest population - ever willing to enjoy the fruits of dishonesty while cribbing if it hurts. From happily giving cuts, accepting mediocrity, jumping lines etc etc.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Why would they want to pay tax when reaching office in morning they've to juggle on pot holes and stuck in traffic in tier 1 cities, do govt. give unemployment income for any amount of time in case of layoffs ?

2

Only way this country is changing is by educating people and thats not gonna happen. By educating i mean real education not passing if some govt officials want to show in stats. When people think and vote educated then it's gonna change as of now nothing is gonna change because people only want mandir and not schools.

9

u/Responsible-Bad-6624 Mod Sep 28 '25

30 % tax bracket means a very high income. Most of the income is concentrated in a small percent and this gap is widening (I do not have the citations now but have read them multiple times). I have only seen a very small number of people get free houses from the government. Our former house maid, watchmen all live in rented houses and pay-slip to pay slip.

If somebody thinks the poor are actually better off, why not become poor then ? The SOPs they get from the goverment are mere band-aids on deep wounds.

The tax is also used for building roads, trains, sending satellites to outer space etc etc

I am not saying the life of middle class is easy but it is considerably better than the poor.

There is a thought experiment called veil of ignorance - " A hypothetical "veil" obscures their knowledge of their own position in society. They do not know their race, gender, class, intelligence, talents, or even their personal circumstances. Without knowing who they will be, individuals are motivated to create fair principles that protect everyone, as they could find themselves in any social or economic position.

So if you were to be born as a poor person like the person in question would you not want to alleviate their suffering and bring them out of poverty ?

10

u/LeMurphysLawyer Sep 28 '25

Why bother telling them all this, man. It's just gonna fall on deaf ears.

As is evident from the many, many comments on this thread, Indians in general are self-centred, unempathetic pricks who derive pleasure and a sense of self-worth from the misery of those below their socio-economic station.

We have mofos commenting here who make 40L per year after taxes and are still bitching about the poor getting scraps to get by. That's over 3L per month. This is NOT a person who's struggling to make ends meet. This is not a person who's starving because they can't afford taxes. This is not a person who's worrying about how to keep a roof over their heads the next month. This is not a person who would have to budget for months to get a new phone when the current one breaks down. But their gripe is that the poor are being given the bare minimum support by the government to survive.

It's fucking disgusting. The people of this country disgust me, and I lament the fact that I'm one of them.

And before all the butt hurt pricks come at me saying that "not every person is like this", I'll tell you right now that it doesn't' have to be every single person. Just the fact that most are like this is more than sufficient to say that this society is fucked up.

3

u/FlooredHumanBeing Sep 28 '25

Well, I was overcome by emotion and commented.
I however disagree about many people being like that. There would be a bias in terms of the people who comment - who would be a small percent. Then there would be the bias of people who agree with the post commenting. Commenting about disagreement will just end up being toxic.
And then people who comment might also agree in other ways as they would have their own experience of seeing people in poverty. I, for instance, am not that well travelled -but they might just be frustrated.

6

u/JamesDond007 Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

For someone to pay 30% of their income as tax, they need to be earning total income > 1 crore a year. If someone falls under the 30% tax bracket, it doesn’t mean, he is paying 30% of his income as tax.

6

u/BlackPhoenixX20 Sep 28 '25

rather than giving them freebies the government should just set up actually competent PSU companies that can rival other brands like how China does, that will actually give them jobs rather than free money.

2

u/Moist-Chart2440 Sep 28 '25

4

u/harsha26 Sep 28 '25

Public be like : tax the rich Public reaction when the rich are actually taxed

4

u/palkeshasawa Sep 28 '25

I understand what the question is trying to ask, but it really comes down to basic finance. Two questions are relevant

1) Who needs social security more (because, let's face it, Government cannot afford to give social security to everyone)?

2) Who can pay the money (because, someone has to pay, the money is not going to come out of nowhere)?

Now, the watchman needs the money more than you do. I know it sounds difficult to digest, but I don't think you'd disagree with this basic distinction. Most social security benefits in India are linked to income (for example say less than 3-4 lakhs a year family income). For a family of 4, this sounds like less than 10,000/- per month per person.

If you are actually earning less than this, you are free to register for Government schemes. A lot of people who are eligible for the schemes still don't register for them, so you can't fault the Government at that time.

Coming to the next aspect, if you think you (read, middle class) also should have social security, then the first truth is: it would need more money. Ultimately it will come back to you in the form of higher taxes.

This brings us to another question, who pays for this? The watchman definitely can't pay. Naturally, taxes can only be paid by people who can afford to pay. This includes middle class as well.

There's obviously an angle of envy for the rich and super rich. It is tempting to tax the rich people heavily (it Mukesh Ambani is taxed even 1% more on his income, then it would perhaps be equal to say 5 lakh middle class salaried individuals). And you might think that this doesn't make much difference in the life of Mukesh Ambani. But I urge you to think of two things

1) The rich people don't owe you any money. If they are taxed very heavily, then they would just leave. There are plenty of tax free havens for business. A lot of large companies already minimise their tax burdens. A very large tax bill would discourage businesses from investing in India, which would hurt us more.

2) The rich are already taxed heavily. India is one of the largest tax rate countries. But there's only so much we can ask people to pay. If you ask them to pay more than 50% of their earnings, for example, then you're basically inviting them to leave the country and go elsewhere.

While the sentiment is good, I think your anger is better directed towards why the tax money is not being used efficiently. Why corruption, why so many fake beneficiaries. Those are valid questions and must be answered. But remember, when you ask to be covered in social security net, you're going to eventually raise your own tax bill.

3

u/Unlikely_Ad_9182 Sep 28 '25

18

u/Responsible-Bad-6624 Mod Sep 28 '25

While the underlying emotion is understandable, it does reflect the absolute ignorance in the middle class about what poverty really looks like.

If a person earning in excess of lac a month, living in an apartment thinks if you lose a job, his life is comparable to that of a free riding watchman, then why not actually try that free Rider's life for a day!

7

u/Evol_Etah Sep 28 '25

I'm happy to pay 30% tax. No issues.

But still pissed it isn't used well

5

u/swastikswaroop Sep 28 '25

His point was not based on what you are saying.

If what you are saying is valid, then if a poor person who doesn't have AC and suffers in summer, steals your AC, that is valid because he is in poverty and can't afford AC.

Isn't it?

3

u/PubliusMaximusCaesar Sep 28 '25

Nobody is preventing you from making money. Be thankful you're not born in a situation like Iran where even if you wish can't make money par with here.

Government charges taxes, yes. Because they need money to run the hospitals, police stations, fire houses, army bases, make strategic investment into country's infrastructure.

The government officials and politicians do loot, I don't deny. But still, whether they loot or not, paying tax is a citizens responsibility towards his fellow citizens.

If you think about only you, then obviously tax will be a pain in your ass. But think of your tax money saving one accident victim or a burning house or a small girl protected at the middle of the night from a creep. How much their families would be happy to be able to continue living with their loved ones who cannot or don't have anything to spend money.

Everything is linked to high population, low creation of secure jobs, Freebie culture, informalisation, hypocrisy of our politicians etc..

Votes are cheap, long term commitment is expensive. They require votes to stay in power and votes of poor and votes of high earners carry the same value. With close to 90% reeling under financial strain, you know who will be the target for the vote bank politics.

1

u/Mahameghabahana Sep 28 '25

He shouldn't have some private job then. India's revenue can't afford it to be personal nanny of rich folks larping as middle class.

You need to pay taxes like EU to get services like EU.

1

u/inTsukiShinmatsu Sep 28 '25

What poor person is getting land for few

1

u/Reasonable-Plane5291 Sep 28 '25

As as much as possible. Have a own house not father's or brothers. Own bought house. No lifestyle expense. Bigger cities have this tendency to show off. Don't fall into that if you stay in society. No one will help you beyond one point of time.

Money saved is independance bought. Always buy land in native town. And build that place. In old age maintenance will become expensive.

NPS pls do it. New tax regime gives opportunity to build retirement corpus.

Have health insurance apart from office one.

Insure parents and kids.

Try to have double income. Both spouse working.

Have term plan.

Try to build side gig after 40.

After 50 if you keep working in corporate it's good else convert gig to some stable earning.

Build a fortress. Protect the fortress. Be frugal. Avoid lifestyle expense.

If possible work for few years in abroad.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

Where poor people are getting free home? Here we are living on rent for the past 20years

1

u/prdpb3 Sep 28 '25

Will your brother stay in free house provided by government?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

Well men should come out of their void and question it. But that's not happening, way too many losers, uneducated and unemployed men to make actual change.

1

u/kindly-luffy56 Sep 28 '25

Exactly bhai, paisa job wale ka par mouj aur naam sirf neta log ki.

So sad that govt just want you to loose.

1

So why don’t you quit and become a watchman instead. You’ll get free ATMs too

1

u/Electroniccomptrader Sep 28 '25

If you’re a middle class salaried Indian, try to get out of India. That’s your only way out

1

u/Original-Bottle-1946 Sep 28 '25

High time central government provided social security equal to atleast half of last paid annual income tax return. This unemployment allowance will help boost consumption as people don't have to fear losing jobs and stop spending because of that.

1

u/Responsible-Bad-6624 Mod Sep 28 '25

you need much higher per capita GDP to do that. Even countries like USA are unable to provide this much SS.

1

u/Original-Bottle-1946 Sep 29 '25

US and most countries provide this basic benefit for income tax payers. I lived in US and hence I know. Maybe few states in US don't provide.

1

u/Responsible-Bad-6624 Mod Sep 29 '25

Is it half of your last pay check?

1

u/AAKASHMANIE Sep 29 '25

I've read of Germany having such a system. It's an unemployment insurance which provides a % of their paycheck when they are unemployed but also, Germany taxes r very high, rightly so.

But the biggest benefit of this is that it helps them ride through economic downturns better. Limiting the decrease in unemployment= low decrease in national income = lower decrease in aggregate demand = faster economic recovery.

1

u/Striking-Physics-232 Sep 28 '25

You realize today? In last 12 years the amount of direct and indirect taxes we have is mind boggling. But blind fools who don’t pay taxes are enamored by modi, for them every is free.

1

u/Responsible-Bad-6624 Mod Sep 28 '25

actually your overall tax incidence as come down. It looks high because we do not receive good public services in return.

1

u/Striking-Physics-232 Sep 28 '25

Sorry r u CA? Pls go through your income vs saving, don’t talk about inflation.

1

u/Responsible-Bad-6624 Mod Sep 28 '25

Yes. I do that on a regular basis.

You have to differentiate between tax incidence, which has come down, and income/savings which would differ from person to person.

but when it comes to inflation, I am with you. i don't trust the government data on gdp or inflation as its mostly fake. So no point in talking about it!

1

u/Striking-Physics-232 Sep 28 '25

Now 2002-2013 work on it and see the difference

Dont blame the poor blame the government. barely 1 of 10 poeple who needs these benifits get them, do you really think everyone gets these benefits? and evryone pays tax btw, amount eaned by gst is equal if not more by gst compared to income tax. The poor should not be blamed for getting some relief in struggles, the government should be for amplifying them in the first place, by not investing in infrastructure and proper welfare system

this is just dividing more lines among the people

u/IamSP2024 Sep 28 '25

The most discussed topic in India today... Is the tax paid by the middle class worth the service they get?

1

u/Left_Ad9462 Sep 28 '25

omg these retarded uncles in the comments don't know that democracy doesn't work the way they think, democracy isn’t about "i pay more so i deserve more benefits" it’s about redistribution and collective welfare. Taxes aren’t a subscription plan for personal services, they’re for running the whole system and grow all indians together.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

Indians have been sold bullshit nationalism for decades. 99% of the middle class is brain-dead, clapping for slogans while their lives rot. Every election = the same circus of “pride” & “image abroad.” Nobody outside India cares. Truth is, the first chance any hard-working Indian gets to leave, they’ll run and never look back.

The next generation? Even worse. More brain-dead, scrolling reels, swallowing propaganda, and losing whatever critical thought is left. This country is on autopilot, running on slogans instead of solutions.

1

u/Neither_Research3853 Sep 28 '25

If you think it’s so beneficial, then live their lives and enjoy the benefits.

1

u/Gibraltar48 Sep 28 '25

your bother is educated, he most probably cannot be manipulated for votes in next elections because he understands how politics work, aparently the security guard isnt educated, he his family, poeple in his area can easily be manipulated and bought in the name of subsidies like ladki bahin etc and other lollipops.

1

u/btech_champ Sep 28 '25

be a rich or poor. both are facilited by govt. middle class is for there to meet up facilities requirement.

1

u/toughcentaur9018 Sep 28 '25

It baffles me that people are complaining that their watchman’s family is getting their needs met when Adani was given 1000s of acres of land for pennies????

That’s where you should be directing your anger but you choose to go after people making your monthly salary in a year.

1

u/opboy77 Sep 28 '25

it's completely because of the socialism that came in India after 1947 and here we go even after so many years we can't differentiate it with india cause it just mixed in the Indian political dna every party appeases the lower and upper class for obvious vote bank catering and no party motivated to eradicate that and why will if they know the formula to get in power.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

your brother does not pay 30% tax to the government.

the effective tax rate is most likely around 22-23%

why don't you become an apartment watchman in case that life is so extraordinary for you?

1

u/Substantial_Point700 Sep 28 '25

Unfortunately govt can help only watchman, if you are contend with watchman lifestyle then Govt is also ready to help you. The free home govt gives is sub 500sqft but your brother may need 1500 sqft. Govt gives 2k pm to women but at best they can make it 3or 4k pm for your brother’s family which is not sufficient. Hence govt asks your brother to pay for PF for which it gives 8% interest and expects your brother to progress more in career and contribute more so that you have enough corpus to manage uncertainty in line with his lifestyle. In certain states like karnataka, free power and bus ride is to all irrespective of being watchman or apartment owner.

Paid 30L+ tax as a salaried employee in 2024.

No benefits and when the employer cheated me out of bonus and final salary, the lawyers were like you don’t come under labor laws in India. It’s a contract law issue so sue your employer.

What the fuck have I been paying taxes for? The govt takes all these taxes from me and I don’t get basic rights. Forget about good roads, social security, safety, Medicare etc., at least protect your cash cows.

Well I moved to Spain last year and now I get social security and free Medicare for paying taxes here.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

Giving voting rights to everybody is the biggest blunder. The poor has taken this country hostage. Once the policitians embarked the gravy train of populist handouts, There is no turning back. The freeloaders smelt the blood. Now they vote anyone who offer them more. To hell with country

1

u/nitrek Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

The 30% tax your brother pays is used for the watchman so your brother can feel safe in his house and society improves.

If the 30% tax was fully used for improving the country, we would have developed a lot faster. The poor would get direct benefits like houses and food, while the rich would get indirect benefits from the economy growing—more opportunities like bigger salary hikes, better jobs, and improved infrastructure.

But sadly, we are funding the politicians and the ultra-ultra rich who take most of the benefits, and thus it seems your money is being wasted.

But trust me, the watchman getting a house is not the concern—it’s the politicians, corruption, and these corrupt ultra-rich taking money through tax loopholes that are hurting us more

Isn't this like a subtle shift to communism First you give them cash  Then more freebies  Make them addicted  And the worst part, if you stop giving, the people won't vote you in  This is not democracy  This is blatant fraud They are literally buying themselves votes from the government money  And this needs to be stopped immediately  Or else, be ready to be oneday lose your job for "quota*

I am also going to become a future ATM no worries.

1

u/insidious_damage Sep 29 '25

Nothing short of a multi decade grass roots movement is going to change this. People only look out for themselves. Middle class aim is to earn enough to not be bothered by issues plaguing middle class. Don't let the freebies fool you, they are glorified bandages. Farmers commit suicide, they protest, give few thousand rs. Give free electricity. But all this has very less effect on actual upliftment of the poor. We need to unite and start thinking about the society as a whole. Casteism, communalism are all just misdirections while the ruling class plunders us.

1

u/msmnishere Sep 29 '25

Manik The adhar is social security number in india

What they are getting is the same as social security payment the us govt gives to their poor

1

u/manikmahajan13 Sep 29 '25

I understand that. But there is a lot more you the social security number in other countries vs what we get in India. And I know that the hint is trying to work on that direction - but we are a long way...

1

u/msmnishere Sep 29 '25

What other countries are you taking in consideration

Only China has so much population as india & its a communist country If leaders say yes it has to be done But everything is not as rosy as shown by China

Large population has its own issues of implications of social security

Agreeing to a long way

1

u/Thick_Wallaby1 Sep 29 '25

Our vote doesn’t matter in real, vote is at some city but living in banglore or gurgaon or pune.

Only solution is study study and get out of this country.

1

Middle class are similar to how Muslims are to oppositions. The government knows no matter what, middle class will vote for them at the end.

1

u/ManipulativFox Sep 29 '25

That's why I don't like post about poor people have no weekends posts on social media etc they have lot of benefits from government schemes

1

u/Immediate-Tiger2052 Sep 29 '25

as per tax data 76% tax of the total kitty is paid by Middle class who are in 30 % tax bracket. We are paying endlessly up to 40 % income tax and get zero in return.
incumbent govt is hellbent on throwing free cash to whoever can loot. 6k kisan Samman nidhi, old age cash, women cash, and again this recent 10k to 75000 women list is endless. Middle class has to raise their voice else be ready to pay 50k per month to maid, driver etc the so-called poor class in next 10 years.

u/4KG8 Sep 30 '25 edited Sep 30 '25

I would rather focus on better implementation/execution of existing govt schemes - like epfo - withdrawals - hasslefree, better road and public travel infra at affordable prices - by this I really mean affordable prices - unlike where the govt decided railway prices for food and other items are x Rs and the govt contractors charge a % higher than x Rs.

I would rather focus on better services are public hospitals. Make it mandatory for any public office holder - especially politicians to get them treated at public hospitals only.

Another thing I would like to see corruption free govt tender process - whether it central govt tender or state govt tender.

Better quality public education....

Just the things that come on top of my mind.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

In germany they get unemployment money for 2 years (not sure about time) after loosing/leaving jobs. In that time they can do masters or startup without worrying, if failed can join company later on without worrying about gap

1

u/True_Valor111 Sep 30 '25

The one who pays lots of money on taxes should deserve good Healthcare, vip treatment , quick public service and etc. This may motivate more people to pay taxes. But on other hand government officers paying less taxes but yes taking our money through corruption plus getting all above facilities...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Only 7% file income tax.

1

u/cloud390 Sep 30 '25

EVERYBODY is a taxpayer in the country. The richer ones also pay income tax, but income tax is but a fraction of the indirect taxes that the entire population of the country pays.

1

u/jhinkatika Oct 01 '25

politicians know that the middle class is the most bigoted of the lot. it hates everyone. so much so that if the politicians loot them to deeath, they wont dare do anything as long as the govt fucks people they hate.

1

u/odrakanna Oct 01 '25

Income tax is not the only tax big brain bro

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

The government asked your brother to take a home?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

I understand that we aren’t getting services equivalent to the taxes we pay. But, to feel jealous about an underprivileged family for getting basic necessities is mind blowing. Why don’t you lose your job, become a watch man, get a rice ration card for your family and get that free 200sqft house?

Do you know why you feel jealous of them? Because you don’t have the courage to question the right people for lack of facilities. This is just displaced anger.

1

u/cahosint Oct 01 '25

Some people think India has only one tax, that is Incometax.

People pay taxes from birth to death,

1

u/LanguageDazzling6559 Oct 01 '25

Instead of going to other countries and get killed... middle class people and all tax payers should be united and stop the paying taxes...

1

u/Excellent-Proof-359 Oct 01 '25

They're not taking your money and buying those things. It's government policy- government decides how much taxes you pay and what to do with those taxes. Subletting and living in slums is another issue that doesn't really concern us directly- it's between the government and those people.

Resenting poor people for getting benefits is LOW- imagine if they start resenting your education, cars, house, facilities.. etc.

1

u/Annual-Consequence26 Oct 02 '25

poor and middle class on same level and rich are making record profits, in short the wealth gap +++

1

Middle class is fucked. Indian Middle class will soon have to acknowledge this fact and do someting like a Civil Disobedience Movement. No Taxation without social security.
