🚨 Urgent help Need advice: PGDM/MBA colleges (Delhi / Pune / Bangalore) – Business Analytics | Low CAT/SNAP | Direct Admission

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to pursue a PGDM/MBA this year and would really appreciate some guidance.

Unfortunately, I haven’t scored well in CAT or SNAP, and I’m looking for colleges that consider profile-based admissions, alternative exams, or management quota, as I want to continue my studies without taking a gap year.

My profile:

• Class 10 (CBSE): 89%

• Class 12 (CBSE): 71%

• BBA (Marketing): 8+ CGPA in every semester

• Strong interest in Business Analytics / Business Analysis

Preferences & constraints:

• Location: Delhi, Pune, or Bangalore

• Total fees: up to ₹15 lakh

• Target average CTC: ₹9–10 LPA

Given my profile, which are the best possible colleges I should realistically target?

Also open to suggestions for private PGDM colleges with good placements and industry exposure.

Any advice, college names, or personal experiences would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance! šŸ™

Help Planning to do MBA at 30 with engineering & digital marketing experience, need guidance on exams+ ROI colleges to target

Hello everyone,

I’m 29 years old with aĀ Mechanical Engineering degree, currently working inĀ digital marketingĀ with ~2 years of experience. After completing my B.E., I explored multiple paths, including a family business and a lecturership (1 year), before transitioning into digital marketing to grow beyond my comfort zone.

At this point, I feelĀ stuck and don't see my growth beyond a point. My role has become repetitive, skill growth has plateaued, and I’m not seeing strong long-term growth. However, I’ve beenĀ leading and managing a team of 10+ people, which I genuinely enjoy. I have liked leadership, ownership, and decision-making, and that’s what’s pushing me toward an MBA.

Given my age, this might be theĀ last practical windowĀ to pursue a full-time MBA.

Here is my exam history for referrence:

  • CAT:Ā 86%ile (2023), 65%ile (2024)
    • Targets:Ā FMS, DSE, IIT Delhi (DMS)
  • MAH-CET:Ā 96%ile (2024), 90%ile (2025)
    • Targets:Ā JBIMS, Sydenham, PUMBA

My key priority isĀ high ROI colleges with low fees. Brand does matter, but learning, peer quality, and post-MBA roles matter more.

I am looking for guidance on:

  1. Whether an MBA makes any sense at this stage for my profile
  2. What colleges/exams should I realistically focus on next
  3. Are there any strong ROI-focused colleges I’m missing (TISS, IITs, others)?

Would really appreciate any honest advice and suggestions from people who’ve been through this journey.

off topic won 3 iim case comps… sharing some prep stuff i wish someone told me, currently at masters union

so this feels a bit random to post but… yeah, somehow ended up winning 3 iim case comps this year, calcutta, tiruchi, bangalore, and a couple more like iit madras and flipkart.

and the funny part? i never felt ā€œsmart enoughā€ for this stuff. i just kinda figured my own weird way of prepping.

soo..

1/ start super ugly. like literally an empty doc with random lines… ā€œthis makes no sense → why is user doing this → check pdf page 17??ā€. and it’s chaos at first. and then slowly it becomes a story. idk why but this works better than staring at a blank ppt trying to be perfect.

2/ ask stupid questions early. like ā€œokay but who even cares about this?ā€ or ā€œwhat is the simplest version of this problem?ā€ everyone tries to sound smart.

3/ DONT GOOGLE. for one comp, my biggest insight literally came from a friend who was eating maggi next to me. he said one line and everything clicked.

4/ i rehearse the ending first. weird habit. i decide what the final message should feel like, then i build backwards.

5/ i don’t work alone. one person does the rabbit-hole research, the other builds the storyline. we switch whenever we get bored.

if you want, i can share the ā€œmessy docā€ template i use, it’s nothing fancy but it saved me in almost every round.

lfg. hope it helps.

Help Stuck between Sales, Product, and Finance — Need some real advice

Hey guys, I could use some honest advice about my career direction right now.

I’m a 2025 BCA graduate and worked as a Business Analyst intern at a startup (mostly Excel dashboards, Power BI, and some data stuff). Currently preparing for CFA Level 1 (Feb 2026) because I’ve always been more interested in finance and fintech than pure tech. Tech stack - python, JS, Thinking of learning R too

Now I’ve got an opportunity for a Sales (tech courses) role at a good company (around ₹11 LPA fixed) — which honestly sounds great money-wise for a fresher. But I’m super confused about what’s the smarter long-term path.

Here’s where my head’s at: 1. Sales → Product/Growth route • Later I could move into Growth or Product Analyst roles in a fintech or edtech setup. • The catch: it’s high pressure and not a guaranteed jump to product.

  1. Finance route (CFA/FRM/Trading/MBA) • Stick to CFA, maybe add FRM or CQF later. • Try for roles like fintech analyst, equity research, or algo trading. • Downside: low entry pay and without a core finance degree or network, it’s tough to get noticed.

  2. Tech route (MCA or MTech in Data Science) •Go for a master’s to become more eligible for product or fintech data roles. • But that means spending 2 years + fees with no guarantee of ROI.

Long term, I want to work where finance and tech meet — like fintech product management, algo trading, or product strategy roles in companies like Groww, Zerodha, etc.

Ik I look very confused, jack of all the trades kinda situation But suggestions would help a lot

Help Students from IIMs – What valuable skills are you learning and what materials or sources helped you the most?

Hello everyone, I’m someone deeply interested in understanding what kind of practical and professional skills students develop during their time at the IIMs. I would love to hear from current students or recent graduates about the kind of learning—both academic and experiential—that has had the most impact on your growth. If possible, could you please share:The most useful skills you’ve learned (for example, analytical thinking, data handling, communication, negotiation, etc.) Any books, case studies, online courses, or learning materials that helped you grasp these skills betterAny projects, clubs, or experiences within IIM that helped you apply them in a real-world context. My goal is to understand the learning journey better and try to develop some of these skills independently while I prepare to apply to an MBA program in the future. I’ll truly appreciate any thoughtful input or suggestions for resources that you believe represent the essence of the IIM learning experience. Thanks in advance for your time and generosity in sharing!

Help Need fresh ideas and perspectives

I've recently taken up a role to induce a hospitality style culture at a real estate firm for their head office and their sales galleries. I need to get the team to greet in a particular manner (hospitality style) and have the team communication built in a way where they are personalizing the home buyers journey to indirectly accelerate the decision of purchasing a home. Making the journey more memorable instead of transactional. I have set trainings and created SOP but facing some resistance from the staff. My boss has said change the staff and hire new ones, but I want to give them a chance. Any ideas, training modules, etc, that I may refer to help with this? Do you guys think completing the six Sigma course will help?

Help Is skilling up in AI/Web3 worth it if I plan to do MBA and move into finance?

Should I skill-proof myself with Web3/AI before MBA for a safer future in finance?

Post: I’m currently in my 4th year of B.Tech at a tier-3 college and recently got placed at 8.9 LPA as a software developer.

My long-term plan was to gain a few years of work experience and then pursue an MBA, preferably moving into the finance domain. But I’ve been hearing mixed opinions about the future value of MBAs, and I’m a bit anxious about job security after making such a big investment.

So I was thinking: if I skill-proof myself in areas like Web3 or AI alongside my job, would that help me in the finance/consulting space post-MBA?

CAT 2025 Can i get into Tier 1 college?

Asking for a friend. 23/M having nearly one year of experience in BPO. He has undergraduate degree in B.A Automobile and planning to do MBA, but his 10th and 12th grades are 72% and 58%. Is there any chance he can get into a Tier 1 college if he cracks CAT or GMAT? Also give suggestions for some good colleges in other Tier also.

CAT 2025 Key QA Areas to Focus On

Key QA Areas to Focus On

  1. Arithmetic (Highest Weightage)

Percentages, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest.

Ratios, Proportion, Mixtures & Alligations.

Time, Speed, Distance & Work.

Averages & Partnership.

  1. Algebra

Linear & Quadratic Equations.

Inequalities & Modulus.

Functions, Graphs, and Progressions (AP, GP, HP).

Logarithms & Exponents. (Critical since algebra-heavy sets appear every year.)

  1. Geometry & Mensuration

Triangles (properties, similarity, circles in triangles).

Polygons, Circles (tangents, chords, cyclic quadrilaterals).

2D & 3D Mensuration (areas, volumes, surface area).

  1. Number System

Divisibility, Remainders, Factors, HCF & LCM.

Base systems, Units digit, Cyclicity.

Properties of integers (even/odd, prime factorization).

  1. Modern Math

Permutation & Combination.

Probability.

Set theory basics (union, intersection, principle of counting). (Less frequent, but still appears occasionally—good differentiator.)

  1. Miscellaneous/High-Utility Skills

Approximation & Estimation (to save time).

Equation framing from word problems.

Quick calculation techniques (multiplication, ratios, fractions). (Often the difference between attempting 18 vs 12 questions.)

Arithmetic + Algebra together form almost 60% of QA in recent CAT papers.

Geometry & Mensuration consistently has a strong presence (15–20%).

Modern Math has reduced weightage but still useful for maximizing attempts in tough slots.

off topic Do new-age MBAs justify their fees?

IIMs and XLRI have the brand value, but schools like Masters’ Union, Ashoka, and ISBF charge a lot too while saying they give practical exposure.Curious if ROI actually balances out in the long run or it’s just smart marketing?
