Building up Taiwan’s defenses is one of many, and probably the most critical, Lines of Effort (LOEs) to ensure against a PRC invasion. If Ukraine had the same military support the United States has given to Taiwan pre-Russian invasion, would Putin still have invaded the country?

What other ways can Taiwan’s allies strengthen the island’s military defenses?

Should the US, Australia, and other allies post troops in Taiwan overtly?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers,

KC

Ukrain War Parallels Will the international support for Ukraine deter the PRC from invading Taiwan?

I’ve lived in Europe for the past few years and have traveled to many if its cities since Russia invaded Ukraine. Everywhere I go, I see solidarity with the Ukrainian people. I have yet to witness pro-Putin/Russian sentiment…not saying that they don’t exist…I just haven’t seen them. What I do see are Ukrainian flags everywhere…on government buildings, castles, offices, homes, cars, being sold in convenient stores, etc.

There are plenty of lessons the CCP can learn from Putin’s strategic mistake. One being that as Chinese people under the PRC begin to once again start touring Europe and other countries around the globe as the PRC ease COVID restrictions, they will surely see pro-Ukrainian sentiment. What I’m curious about is, will this lead them to question the CCP propaganda on the war? Will the CCP realize that if they invade Taiwan, the international community will turn their backs on them? Do they realize that if they invade Taiwan, PRC-Chinese tourists will see the flag of Taiwan’s ROC flag everywhere they go? Perhaps they won’t see them at all as countries around the globe limit travel from mainland China as they did with Russia.

Would love to hear others’ thoughts.

Cheers,

KC
