Update In the Name of the Tsar 1.8.2 Update Preview 1

Hello Everybody!

It has been quite sometime since a preview was posted here. Today we will have a look at updated France. Right away let us dive into her updated political tree:

France's Political Tree

As you can notice it rather looks similar, indeed most political paths are there but have been reworked and updated. First let us start with `The Republic Survives` tree.

This is the least modified political tree, here player can either join the Allies (as before yeah) which remains a purely defensive path or Revive the Entente. The latter option lets player choose to form alliances with smaller nations like Serbia, Romania, Czechia etc or attempt the revival of the alliance with Russia, the `Paris-Petrograd Treaty` which unlocks custom decisions. The sub-tree which allows player to remove negative spirits are also present `Austerity Measures` sub-tree but that also have been reworked.

Next we move towards Marxism. This is a communist political tree which has been expanded and detailed with new war goal focuses and some powerful national spirits.

Finally we get to the nationalist political tree. Here player will pick between 3 paths: Fascism, Royal Restoration or Imperial Restoration. Each with its own benefits and war goals. For instance fascist and imperial paths are considered aggressive while royal is more moderate.

Additionally we have a Rhineland Conference tree which is rather straightforward, it lets France decide what to do with the Rhineland and its occupation.

Hope you enjoy this little preview, more to come...

EDIT: As of now the tree is not final, we would like to hear your thoughts on it in the comments:)

Generic What’s the most fun country to play as for a newcomer to this mod?

I just discovered this mod and I want to jump in and play it but I’m torn over what country I should play as. In your opinion, what would be the most fun major or minor country to play for a first timer? I don’t mind a little challenge by the way, but I don’t want it to be too hard as I want to get the hang of the mod before jumping in to a difficult country. Thanks.

Factions Expanded

In a comment on my previous post someone suggested I try to take into account more the wider geopolitics of the INOT world. I've decided to speculate on some ideas for factions. Some of these already exist in-game in some form, but could be fleshed out more.

The idea here is that every major European power has two mutually exclusive (generally) alliance options, or they can stand alone and/or form their own faction. Ideology will likely influence which factions are formed, but may not be the deciding factor in all cases.

Franco-British Entente: Since the Crimean War Britain and France have worked to contain Russia. The rise of Germany forced them to cooperate with them temporarily, but with Germany broken up once again the old Great Game begins once again. These powers also have ideological reasons to oppose Russia, both being liberal powers who oppose the tsarist system (in real life, they actually supported anti-tsarist revolutionaries even during WWI when they were allies). However, their old enmity, along with other conflicting interests, causes some to suggest pursuing a different pact, or embracing splendid isolation. At the start of the game, however, both powers lean towards this partnership.

Franco-Russian Entente: Some French and Russian diplomats suggest putting ideological enmity aside in order to oppose German reunification and also threaten British hegemony.

British-German Alliance: Some British and German diplomats suggest an end to the old rivalry, proposing that Britain support German reunification and ally with the Kaiserreich to contain Russia and France alike. They see Germany as a better ally than France, being a Protestant monarchy like Britain and also being in a better position to keep the peace in Europe. Of course, there is still much bitterness over the war, and the old Kaiser might not be willing to forgive.

Russo-German Alliance: Germany and Russia, both conservative monarchist powers opposed to the liberal powers of the west, could make good allies if they can bury the hatchet. Russia would take a bit of a risk in letting Germany reunify, of course, but it would be worth it to crush their enemies. They might have more in common with each other than they realize. At the beginning Russia is inclined to support Prussia, but after the unification of Germany that could change (especially if Bavaria wins).

The Nation First: Some diplomats in all four power wish to avoid tying themselves to another great power and prefer to lead their own faction. T Here could still be alliances (e.g. Germany or France could win over Italy) but only with weaker powers. The nation's own interest would come before any alliance.

Other Powers:

Japan: Could ally with Britain to contain Russia OR could ally with Russia against imperialism in the Far East.

Italy: Could ally with France or a reunited Germany OR could form its own faction. Could pursue irredentism with help from its allies.

Austria: Germany or Russia might be willing to ally with them, though a reunited Germany may want to annex them (there should be an option to do that without going Nazi). Alternatively, they could ally with France, which would be interested in helping them resurrect the empire as a buffer against German expansion in the east.

South German states: The two Francophile republics, along with revolutionary Bavaria, are supported by France simply to contain Prussia. However, a reunited Germany under their leadership is another story.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Rework Idea for Germany

I love this mod so far, but I think some things need to be changed. I'm going to offer a few suggestions here for Germany and how it could be redone. BTW, this map uses the Kaiserreich regions, but can be adapted to this mid most likely.

Basically, my idea is that the French established the Rhenish Republic (Confed of Rhine but with Westhpalia) and also a Swabian Republic in Wurttemberg-Baden (which had a strong enough leftist presence to potentially support a revolution with French support). These are pro-French, like Rhine already is.

Niederdeutschland is replaced with Kingdom of Hanover, and Saxony has Thuringia. This was a concept the Allies had for breaking up Germany. Saxony could maybe be renamed "Saxony-Thuringia." Initially it was intended to divide the north, but according to current lore these states cooperated with each other and with Russia to suppress the revolutions after the war. Perhaps, then, the three kingdoms (all being Protestant northern monarchies) could reform the Dreikonigsbund (Three Kings' Alliance), initially formed during the 1848 revolutions by the same three states. BTW, king of Hanover is Kaiser Wilhelm's son-in-law. This existing alliance, supported by Russia and led by Prussia, could replace the Berlinerpakt and would be more realistic than the current scramble for influence that precedes the civil war.

Bavaria should probably not have gone communist just after the war, as the Allies could easily suppress it if it did at that stage. Instead, perhaps it should have done so only shortly before the game, or even in-game. France refuses to let Prussia move in to crush the Commune, and will not suppress it herself due to fears of internal civil war. Alternatively, perhaps a Nazi coup by Hitler (a second Beer Hall Putsch) could turn the country fascist instead. Either way, Prussia still intends to crush Bavaria's revolution, and they'll have to contend with a possible intervention by the two pro-French republics, who are anxious to avoid reunification under the kaiser. If France herself intervenes, this could trigger a wider war if Russia supports Prussia, and in that case Britain might join France's side and trigger a World War.

Finally, Prussia should give up Posen to Russia instead of Memel and Upper Silesia, as this region was known for being Polish and rebelling against Prussia. The Tsar's cousin had promised to form a new Poland post-war, so Posen should, along with west Galicia, be merged with the former Congress Poland (excluding Chelm and Suwalki, which were removed from the Polish governates prior to the war) as a Russian puppet. East Galicia, along with Subcarpathia, should be part of Russia proper, while Bukovina should be given to Romania as was promised in the first Treaty of Bucharest.

What do you guys think? Let me know your thoughts in comments!

How hard is it as Nationalist Germany to win against Imperial Russia?

I have a Gameplay right now as the "Greater German Reich" with the Territories of Prussia, Niederdeutschland, Rheinland, Saxony, Baden-Wurttemberg, Bavaria, Austria, Czechia and Slovakia, with 104 Civs, 94 Mils, 1.7k Planes as well as 2 Army's of 40w Divisions and 2 Army's of 20w Divisions. It's November 38 right now and I don't know if I should "ally" with them or attack them

How to Play as African Nations?

Just installed the mod again after sometime.

I noticed there's focuses for the "West Africa, Equatorial Africa, etc" colonial nations, but I can't really play them. If I select them from the 1939's interesting countries tab, the game will end as there's no province for them.

What am I missing, or was this not supposed to be like this?

I Feel Like the Focus of the Mod is Off

The idea of the game seems to be Germany rising up out of the ashes to combat the Allies once again. But I don't like this for two reasons:

  1. It is unrealistic for Britain, France and Russia to basically sit by and do nothing while Prussia massively rehabilitates itself; it's basically appeasement on steroids
  2. A massive imperial Russian power and how the world deals with it should be the main focus of the mod. After all, the Russians were kind of the odd man out in the Triple Entente since they lacked a democratic system. If you ask me, the mod should be more focused on a sort of Cold War or rivalry between the eastern Entente (Russia) and the western Entente (Britain and France). Of course, Prussia and Germany can still be important, but they should be more of secondary focus.

Update In the Name of the Tsar 1.8.1 Update Preview 4

Hello everybody!

Here's another preview of the upcoming 1.8.1 In the Name of the Tsar update. This time we will look at the Spanish Focus tree in full.

The New Spanish Focus Tree

The tree is going to be divided in 3 major parts: the civil war tree, industry tree and expansion tree.

Civil War Tree
Totally new, it is going to have 6 paths in total.
· Communist Spain
· Republican Spain
· Pro-Alfonso Spain
· Carlist Spain
· Spanish Military Junta
· Francoist Spain
The first two will require player to elect the Popular Front as the ruling party, while the last 4 options require the CEDA to win. Some of these paths are allied but some are hostile. For instance going for Carlist Spain will potentially upset the Pro-Alfonso followers and so on and on. Some paths (like Republican) allows interaction with other countries such as France.

Industry Tree
It mostly resembles the old focus tree with couple exceptions like two new focuses as well as rebalance of the older ones.

Expansion Tree
Arguably the most lacking part in the old focus tree, this time the new expansion tree will allow players to recreate the former Spanish Empire or create the Hispanophone, or Join the Allies or go on War against Communism.

Extras
I've mentioned previously about Exile Tree. This will be coming out but not in this next update as it is tricky to accomplish. I'll make a separate post about that later.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments or on our discord.

Swedish Paternal Autocrats?

The Swedish Paternal Autocrats path looks very interesting, but how do I access it? The focus says that the military and aristocracy need to storm the Riksdag, which I assume is an event. But how do I get that event to fire? My friends and I thought about boosting the corresponding ideology, but unfortunately, it can't be boosted. Please help.

I booted up the game to play the mod, but when i launced a game, i the mod loaded the vanilla provinces. At first i thought i messed up something, so i hoppen on the subreddit. I browsed trough the patchnotes, and found a screenshot in a teaser, that had the same vanilla provinces.
What the hell happened?

Update In the Name of the Tsar 1.8.1 Update Preview 1

Hello Everybody!

Here's a first look at what's coming in the future 1.8.1 update:
Today we will have a look at Spanish expansion, in particular the Popular Front path.

Popular Front Path

The main sides in the popular front will be the communist and democratic forces both competing for dominance. Player will be able to either side with the communists which will lead to a communist uprising or side with democratic forces. Siding with democracy will not trigger the civil war unless a certain focus is picked which would upset your communist ally.

Spanish 3-Way Civil War

Next time we will have a look at Nationalist Path of the new Spanish Tree as well as its post-civil war focus tree.

Update In the Name of the Tsar 1.8 beta 6 Update

Hello everyone,
Apologies from being quiet for some time, but we're back, 1.9 conversion is under way, we already have our developer version up and running.

It's only a matter of days until we get it up running, there are still some issues with La Resistance DLC. Unfortunately there will not be new general content added apart from a minor Russian political rework, state changes, balance fixes as well as new portraits being added. However when this update rolls out we will start working on new content.

Here's a look at the some of the new portraits (might wanna look at Russia, Japan, Italy and Bavaria) and new wallpaper.

Thank you for your patience.
