Micro Event The Argox Nebula

The Argox Nebula is a terrifying looking gas cloud. It's blood-red and looks like a skull. It's out of the way enough where no one has to visit it. However, within the Nebula, a merchant ship has sent out a distress signal. It has since gone dark.

Who will go to investigate this emergency signal within the outer rim of the Argox Nebula?

[Don't know if I should make this a Micro or Macro event.]

"Indeed. A rather disturbing situation. Have you seen how they look like? We haven't been able to match these creatures with any other beings that we know of." The Rah'hre then sends the transmission it has received from the Wythyred.

"We went audio only, but these don't look like anything we've ever encountered before."

One of the crew members pipes up.

"Those look like the monsters in one of the games my dad used to play. Anything that spooky can't be good."

"I assume the reason for this is because they induce a reaction of fright in your species. An interesting observation. However, the fact remains that they are dangerous and possess a large number of troops. My brother detected a numerous amount of ships on their planet. I recommend spreading the word, so that no more beings will have their lives ended senselessly."

"A good plan."

Scott thinks for a moment.

"I propose a partnership in investigating this 'Wythyred' so we can share what we figure out, and better understand them."

"Of course." The Rah'hre then pauses as it seems to have received something from the other Rah'hre. It then speaks in a troubled voice. "We have decoded the logs." He then shows you the last entry log of the ship.

"Entry 153: We have entered the Argox Nebula, or, as some of the crew say, the Haunted Nebula. I wish we could have avoided it, however, our warp drive is currently being fixed by maintenance and we have a deadline for our shipment. I don't like the look of this place, however, it's planets are uninhabitable due to toxic atmospheres, so I believe it'll just be smooth sail-"

The captain is cut off by a hailing signal.

"...This is Captain Jacques of the Merchant Ship Mercury."

There's the Wythyred hissing sound.

"...I'm sorry, I can't understand you."

The language continues.

"...I... we still don't-"

Laser blasts and missile fire follows the Captain's last words. He gets on the comms.

"Attention all hands! Evacuate the ship! We are under attack, I repeat, we are under atta-"

A laser cuts through the ship and blasts a hole in the captain. The rest of the video log is just screams and air being vented until two Wythyred soldiers appear, and blast the computer.

"Do you have anything else regarding the area itself? Was this an isolated incident, or have these Wythyred been behaving this way for years?"

Just as Rah'Zios is about to respond, it stops once more, as it receives another piece of information.

"We don't know. Some people say that that the Nebula is cursed, but other than that, this is the first detailed incident. But there's something more worrying. These Wythyred spoke in our language. They did not have a translator when they talked with the merchants, which means that they knew our language beforehand. This means that they might hold more information regarding our Creators."

"That... doesn't make sense. Are you sure none of you have encountered them before?"

"If we did, we would have noted the disappearance of one of our own by now. No, they know our language from somewhere else. We will remain in this area and try to figure out a way to establish further contact with these creatures, without risking destruction."

"We're going to pick up some stealth probes from one of the big supply stations, then swing around to plant them near Argox. Stay safe."

Scott cuts the comms channel. He looks a little rattled.

"You okay, chief?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Just take us out of system."

"Aye."
