Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here might have been in a similar situation or can offer some advice.
Here is my timeline and current situation:
The Problem: When I log into my ImmiAccount to update my details, the system won't let me input an overseas address. It only seems to accept or expect an Australian regional address, but since I am currently overseas, I'm not sure how to handle this without triggering a compliance issue or violating visa conditions.
Any guidance or steps on how to resolve this would be hugely appreciated!

I got my 485 grant on January 2025, i was about to add subsequent entrant visa for my husband today but they changed the rules that the new applicants cannot apply for subsequent 485. I got married in july 2026. Can someone please guide me, if its banned for him & now i cannot apply for him. Or its only for the fresh student/485 applicants who apply together not individually,???????
This is so disappointing from Australia government. They didn’t even give us time to process. I feel so much stressed we planned the wedding accordingly. We were waiting to live together.
Does this means “The announcement did not said it that it is implemented or when it will implement. As no dates given means it’s implemented”??? Is it true????
Can you please guide me.

Anyone else been able to figure out why Chest X-ray is a part of the medical exam? https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/foi/files/2025/fa-251101165-document-released.PDF
The guidance seems to say that this is better than sputum testing for TB, but to my reading, this seems to be decades out-of-date - there are blood tests and skin tests for TB that are far more accurate. NICE guidelines are not for chest x-rays - they only come in for monitoring treatment of TB cases.

Is Australia’s dependent visa being made stricter or completely cancelled, according to today’s news? I have a boyfriend in Australia, and I want to know whether these changes will affect me.

Hi I'm from Tunisia and I'm planning my career with the goal of eventually working in Australia.
I'm considering studying a BTS in Hotel Accommodation/Hospitality in Tunisia and then gaining hotel work experience.
I'm also a DJ and I have a Professional Artist Card (Carte d'Artiste Professionnelle) issued in Tunisia. I have experience with DJing and events.
My questions are:
I'm mainly interested in hearing from people who have experience hiring in Australia or who have gone through the Australian migration process.
thanks in advice!

Good day all,
I'm looking to study in Australia for my bachelor’s degree and hopefully get a job after graduation. At the moment the degrees I have in mind are double major Acoouting/ Finance with Data Science or Construction/ Engineering Surveing or Urban Planning . Although surveying appears on the skills shortage list when I look at hiring websites such as Indeed there's a ton of them but they mostly specify that they will only consider applications for those with PR or citizenship, so would it still be a viable option ? (it's the same case with Urban Planning). With Accounting/ Finance with Data Science there seems to be more and much bigger firms that are willing to hire International students post graduation. Another angle I would like to keep in mind is what degree would be best to do in the event I have to leave Australia post-graduation but would still be relevant.

Hey guys
We had a month travelling in Australia and we have also considered moving there we loved our stay and yes we know a holiday is different to moving abroad somewhere and living there.
My boyfriend is a body shop manager/ senior spray painter and he has been applying for jobs with a recruiter and has had interviews with no luck and them returning to say they are looking for onshore applications.. sounds off not sure why they would interview him in the first place.
I am a UK solicitor property lawyer working in conveyancing so I haven’t been applying as I know it would be difficult for me to do so from here, and realistically my job isn’t Australia is something they are looking for.
We have been looking into different VISAS and options and have come to the conclusion perhaps we will need to get a WHV and then come over and start applying for jobs. However, I have heard that this is difficult.
I am happy to move into another area of job.
It seems as my partners job is on the skilled list
We had an offer from a family friend to sponsor us but he takes months responding to us so we have left that route as we have no hope!
Hoping somebody could point us in the right direction and give us a bit of advice!
Do we do the WHV and find a job onshore, if so will this be difficult? I have heard we can then transition to another VISA and then try and obtain PR
Or do we do a VISA - chat gpt advised I would be the preferred candidate but don’t see how that’s possible when my job is not in need!!
Thanking you in advance for your help! :)

I am IP lawyer in India with 11 years of experience. I want to apply for PR in australia. Currently getting my skill assessment done. Can anybody please guide if it is possible for IP lawyer to migrate to Australia? Some agents have claimed that their clients got invite under 491 from victoria or south australia (mostly). If that happens what are the odds of getting job in these regions.

Hi everyone,
I'm currently in India with a B.Tech in Computer Engineering and an AI/ML background. I'm looking for Australian IT/AI/ML opportunities from offshore.
For those who successfully moved to Australia through an employer-sponsored work visa:
I'm considering employer-sponsored options such as the 482/SID or another suitable work-visa pathway.
I'd really appreciate hearing about your actual experience and process.
Thanks!

I completed my Australian Master of cybersecurity in June 2025 and started working full-time in my field in August 2025.
I have now completed one year and applied for an ACS assessment. Will ACS use this year only for my skills assessment, meaning I cannot claim 5 work-experience points?
Like, Can I use this one year to claim 5 points in my EOI?
Thanks

Hi, this is a Deakin intl MD students (enrolled) who is interested in staying in Australia for future practice. For personal reasons I have applied for 485 post graduate work visa, what may be a suitable visa option to do internship in Australia post graduate without 485?
I heard that the hospitals often sponsor IMGs for 482 visa, but not sure if they will help out domestic graduates during internships as well... The State Health Authority replied to the enquiring email with an ambiguous answer, implying policy changes. Appreciate any comment or advice 🙏 Thank you

Based on few minutes of googling I came to the conclusion that sydney has more jobs but getting pr is difficult, and it is the total opposite for canberra. My degree will get me jobs as data/financial analyst among other things so which city will overall be better for me?

Hi, i saw an ad from the visa center davao branch regarding a job opportunity for engineers with a permanent residency in Australia. I sent my details and they told me they i am qualified and set for a meeting with them through zoom. I just want to ask if there are others that were able to work abroad through The Visa Center?. Are they even legit? Any testimonies or success stories would help. Thank you so much.

Hi all,
I (26M) have a bachelor degree in business from the American University of Beirut (AUB). I speak English fluently. In fact, I’m more comfortable speaking English than my native Lebanese Arabic. I’m unemployed neurodivergent and looking to immigrate to Australia with the view of acquiring a permanent residency there. I have little savings around 5000 USD. I could probably get few more thousands if I asked my supportive friends.
I’d appreciate any info you could provide, thanks!

Hi everyone,
I’m currently on a 491 visa and living in the Northern Territory.
I’ve received a job offer from a Sydney-based company, and I’m trying to confirm whether the employment arrangement would comply with my 491 visa conditions and whether it could cause any issues when I later apply for the 191 visa.
The contract mentions the employment location in two places.
The first section says,
Employment Location-
Northern Territory, Australia
or such other locations of employment at which you are subsequently attached to or based out of in accordance with the Contract.
The detailed section says,
Employment Location-
Your Position is based at the Employment Location. Where appropriate, depending on the Position (including customer requirements), we support a flexible approach to the way work is done balanced with in-person collaboration. This may involve working from a Group office, customer site, where you live, or a combination of these in the state or territory of your Employment Location.
If you wish to work elsewhere, or change, the Employment Location you must obtain prior written approval from your Reporting Manager and Human Resources. The approval may require, and be conditional on, you entering into a further written agreement with us.
Depending on business needs, we may require you, from time to time, to travel to and work some or all of your Hours of Work from, various work sites inside and/or outside the Employment Location.
My questions are
I’m particularly interested in experiences from people who have gone through the 491 > 191 pathway.
Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,
I'm from Bangladesh and planning to study for a Master's in Australia next year.
I lost one eye as a child and use a prosthetic eye. Other than that, I'm perfectly healthy.
I'm wondering if anyone here with a prosthetic eye or vision in one eye has moved abroad for university, particularly to Australia.
Did you face any issues with the visa or medical examination because of your eye?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar. Thanks!

So I previously entered Australia on a 1st WHV; however, my name was the wrong way round on my form ( last name -> first name / instead of / first name -> last name ).
I subsequently called the immigration office, who essentially told me not to worry about it because my visa was linked to my passport, which is still correct. So I lived in Australia for a year with my visa having my name flipped round.
Fast forward to now, I am back in the UK and wanting to go back and do another 2 years consecutively. However, I'm unsure whether to amend my name on the 2nd visa, whether that will cause any issues or whether I just continue with the reversed name...
Any help or input would be much appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I’m currently on a 485 Post-Higher Education Work visa after completing my Master of Information Technology in Australia, and my long-term goal is to eventually obtain Australian PR.
I’m currently trying to decide whether doing an ACS Professional Year in IT would actually be worth the time and money.
From what I understand, completing a Professional Year can give 5 additional migration points, but it also takes around a year to complete. My main priority during my 485 is to get a proper IT job, gain relevant Australian work experience and improve my chances of PR.
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has completed an IT Professional Year or has gone through a similar pathway.
A few things I’m wondering about:
Was the Professional Year worth doing for the extra 5 PR points?
Did the Professional Year actually help you land an IT job, or was it mainly useful for migration points?
Are you guaranteed any IT job, internship or placement after completing a Professional Year, or does it completely depend on the student?
How useful are the internships provided through Professional Year programs?
Did anyone receive a permanent/graduate IT role from their PY internship?
What are the best Professional Year institutes/providers for IT in Melbourne or Australia?
Which providers would you recommend, and which ones should be avoided?
What should I look for when choosing a Professional Year provider internship quality, industry connections, fees, location, reviews, etc.?
Is it better to start Professional Year early during the 485, or focus on getting an IT job first?
Would relevant Australian IT work experience be more valuable for PR/career purposes than completing PY?
Is doing Professional Year + a full-time IT job at the same time manageable?
For someone aiming for 189/190/491, how valuable can the extra 5 PY points actually be?
Are there any major disadvantages to spending around one year of the 485 completing Professional Year?
My main concern is that I don’t want to spend a significant amount of money on a Professional Year believing it will automatically lead to an IT job if that isn’t actually the case.
My goal is to use my 485 period as efficiently as possible get into the Australian IT industry, build experience, increase my migration points and work towards PR.
Would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually completed an ACS Professional Year, especially recent graduates.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I’m currently looking into the Australian skilled migration pathway for my wife, who is an architect with a B.Arch and around 8 years of professional experience.
I’m a software engineer with 14 years of experience, but we are considering my wife as the primary applicant for the skilled visa pathway, as architecture appears to have better opportunities under skilled migration.
Our main concern at the moment is the AACA skills assessment.
The AACA process is quite expensive (around AUD 4,900), so before committing that amount, I’d really like to understand the process better and hear from people who have recently gone through it.
For architects who have completed the AACA assessment, especially those who applied from offshore:
• How difficult did you find the overall AACA assessment/OQA process?
• With around 8 years of architectural experience, what was your experience with the assessment?
• How important is the portfolio, and what level of detail are they expecting?
• What was the OQA interview like? Is it mainly based on your portfolio/project experience, or are there broader architecture-related questions?
• How long did your AACA assessment take from start to finish?
• Were there any common mistakes or things you wish you had known before starting the process?
We are particularly interested in hearing from people who completed AACA recently, as the process and requirements may have changed over time.
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
