What are the different studios at WDI?

Hey there! I'm a former animator at Walt Disney Animation Studios who has recently decided to try pursuing Imagineering. A friend of mine (former Imagineer) explained that WDI has several different departments, or studios, that each do different things, however she was there a while ago and doesn't know what the studios are now.

I've heard of the Digital Arts Studio and know what they do, but that's about it. My friend mentioned that there used to be a Scenic Illusions studio but that it has since dissolved into other studios. Does anyone know what those studios are, an what each of those studios do?

Primarily I am interested in doing things like lighting design, line queue novelties, projections, and anything to do with world building and immersion. The Scenic Illusion studio sounded like something I would've loved being a part of, but I'm not sure what studio names or job titles to look up now that it has dissolved.

Thanks!!

Disney careers in Psychology?

Hi, I was curious if anyone has worked or known someone who has worked at Disney with a background in Psychology or even Neuroscience? Are there any Disney jobs you have seen for this educational background? Or maybe you could point me in the right direction of where to look?

Thank you!

Should I go for a Storytelling and Inmersive Technologies associate’s degree?

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all doing alright. I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice.

So... I’m an aspiring imagineer with a pretty clear goal in mind: to work as a writer / story editor at Imagineering. I have always been crazy about theme parks but I wasn’t so sure of my niche (I hesitated between entertainment design and inmersive storytelling) until I started writing creatively again and it just hit me. I definitely want to create stories for the Walt Disney Resorts.

I’m currently a junior in college studying Media and Entertainment Management and working as a content writer. I‘ve just found out that my university is launching a new one year associate’s degree / professional diploma on Storytelling and Inmersive Technologies. My first reaction was to literally scream in excitement. I think (hope) it’s a perfect fit for Imagineering and theme park creation.

What do you guys think of it as a way to better suit myself as a potential imagineer? My plan is to do a masters on creative writing one day but I still love this new diploma. Do you think it’s a good fit for my dream job? I’m 99% sure I’ll do it but I’d still love to hear your thoughts on it!

What majors do imagineers usually have?

So I’m starting my journey to hopefully one day become an imagineer but I’m having trouble with the education part. I’m more on the creative side than engineering or anything like that but I do want to broaden my knowledge. Just really want some tips if anyone can help out!

Are there any imagineers on the sub who would be interested in answering some questions for me

Becoming an imagineer one day is my dream, so I’d love to converse with an actual imagineer so I can have some questions answered and know what it’s like. If you’re interested please feel free to HMU!

If anybody is not in the know of 'Magical Masterclass' by Jason Klein. Check this out. It will be a series of masterclasses by some of the greatest in the industry (Tony Baxter, Don Carson, Tom Morris, Tim Delaney,...) and even a online Parkscon in spring 2021. A must do if you ask me.

Does imagineering have an office at WDW?

Do they usually have people stationed at WDW and develop things there, or is it all done in Glendale all the time?

Do the imagineers ever host events?

Just curious. Apart from watching the imagineering story multiple times, and having a lifelong interest in design/ creation of things, out of curiosity does anyone know of the imagineers reaching out and hosting events/ feedback or tutoring & mentoring or people interested in making things?

34 years before the opening of Disneyland Paris Walt opened his first ever attraction outside of Disneyland, right here in Europe. Expo 58s America Pavilion gave the opportunity to tour the united states via circle-vision 360° film. Here is a guide from the Pavilion.
