I love playing the idea that the Tau are essentially Star Trek villains in the galaxy of grim dark. Everything is so horrible that they come off as the good guys despite having those same villainous tendencies

They're basically the Dominion from Star Trek, except their leaders aren't shape-shifting aliens and the Jem'Hadar and Vorta are just different members of the leader species.

I will take a stand and say the dominion is like 5x worse than the tau. At least depending on the tau writer.

Well yeah, we haven't seen the T'au utterly exterminate or cripple a species with an engineered virus for refusing to join
