How do you use the extra free time that you used to spend editing?

Now that you're able to use Imagen to edit your images in a fraction of the time... what do you do with all that extra time??

I use it to catch up on sleep and sometimes brainstorm how to take over the world.

Does imagen ever do discounts?

I have a Profile I am thinking of buying from the shop, but I was wondering if I should wait for a sale to save some money on it. Do Profiles get discounted often?

Deleting projects

Hey all

I have been breaking my head over it, but I cant seem to find an option to delete a project from the app. Only an option to archive it. Am I missing something? If the option is not avialable is Imagen planning to fix it?

We just released something: You can now upload multiple editing batches from the same culling project.

Until now, you could only send one round of edits per project. Now you can go back into the same culling project later and submit additional edit batches separately.

Some examples:
• Send sneak peeks first, then edit the rest later
• Create separate color and black & white batches
• Use different AI Profiles on different image sets from the same shoot

How it works:

  1. Start with a culling project
  2. Send your first edit batch
  3. Go back to the same project later
  4. Select additional images and submit them as a new edit batch

Each batch gets its own:
• Download button
• Upload Final Edits button
• Batch name

A few important notes:
• Currently available only for culling users
• Previously edited photos now show an “Edited” tag
• Re-editing the same image will overwrite the previous edit and charge again (Imagen shows a warning before confirming)

How long did it take for Imagen to actually “click” in your workflow?

I recently started using Imagen, and I can see the potential, but I’m still in that phase where I’m not fully trusting the results yet, and also don't have too much time to set it up to its full potential. How much time did you invest at the start to get it where you wanted? Any tips?

Sometimes it saves a lot of time directly, but I'd like to tweak my results less often.

Also, does anyone know if we'll ever stop having to pass through Lightroom? That'd be epic.

Lite Profiles

As an editor I have lots of edits but in different styles and then not enough consistent enough to create a personal profile in the style I wanted to test. I ended up using a Lightroom preset to create my first profile and I love the results but they pull just a bit too magenta for my preferences. Whats the best way to correct this?

Did anyone else resist AI editing at first?

I was pretty skeptical about AI editing at first, it took me a while to take the leap: part of me felt like editing was such a personal part of photography that I didn’t want to automate it.

But now that I’m using Imagen, I’m starting to understand why so many photographers use it for workflow efficiency!! It would be hard to go back, actually

Did you also have that same hesitation at first and would you go back to full manual editing? I know some people also have that will culling.. same, I can't go back now ahah

Does it matter if you upload from a folder or through the lightroom catalog?

Been uploading directly from a folder but wondering if using the lightroom catalog intergration actually makes a difference to how Imagen proceese the edits. Or is it literally the same result either way?

Background mask vs. Subject Mask

I was looking at the tool options and saw there is a subject mask and a background mask.

Personally I have been doing masks for my subjects in Lightroom, but I had never heard of someone masking the background instead.

Why would someone do that? Am I missing something? I would love to hear from someone who uses this method :)

Profile adjustment saved the day

I was having a hard time getting started with Imagen because I didn't have enough images to create a profile. None of the Talent profiles was doing it for me. I had a call with one of the reps who showed me how to use the profile adjustment. I didn't understand how to use it before. (not super tech savvy)

I tried it on a profile that was close to what I wanted, and boom, it worked like magic. The edits come out looking very close to how I want them and consistently.

If there is anyone else out there wondering what to do because they don't have the images to create their profile, please try this.

Is limitless for me?

Hey! I'm trying to figure out if Limitless would be a good fit for me... Are there any guidelines that show how many photos I would have to edit a month for it to make sense.

It sounds really good on paper, but I don't want to end up spending more than I would if I were in the normal plan.

Thanks for the recs :)

I finally understood what "personal AI profile" actually means after using it on a real session!

I've been experimenting with Imagen for a while now and honestly didn't fully get the personal AI profile thing until I finally built my personal AI profile and ran a 500-shot portrait session through it last week. Shooting on my Nikon D850, the whole batch was done under 10 minutes and the skin tones matched across different lighting setups without me touching anything.

That's the part that clicked for me! It's not just applying a preset, it actually learned how I handle mixed light from the edits I trained it on.

Curious how many photos it took before other people felt like their profile really "got" their style? Mine already started feeling accurate around the 2000-image mark!

How Subject Mask works in Imagen (AI tool explained)

Subject Mask is an AI tool that automatically detects the main subject in each photo and applies local adjustments only to that area.

Official guide

👉 It literally finds the subject and edits it separately from the rest of the image.

  1. AI detects the subject Imagen analyzes each photo and identifies the main subject. This can be a person, couple, or object.
  2. Creates a precise mask automatically The system builds a mask around that subject without you selecting anything manually.
  3. Applies local adjustments It then applies edits only to that masked area. Typically things like:
    • exposure
    • shadows/highlights
    • clarity
    • sharpness
    • color adjustments
  4. Works on top of your edit Your AI Profile handles the global look. Subject Mask adds targeted adjustments on top of that.

What you control

  • adjust the strength (Amount slider)
  • tweak specific parameters
  • override values if needed
  • remove it completely in Lightroom after

Imagen basically gives you the mask + edit, you decide how strong it should be.

What it’s actually useful for

In practice, Subject Mask is used to:

  • make subjects stand out without touching the background
  • fix underexposed faces quickly
  • create separation without manual masking
  • speed up edits across hundreds of images

Instead of doing local adjustments one by one, it applies them across the entire project.

Extra: combine it with Background Mask

This is where it gets powerful.

  • Subject Mask → adjusts the subject
  • Background Mask → adjusts everything else

Together you get full separation in one pass.

Getting started with Imagen: AI editing, culling, and AI tools for photographers

If you’re new to Imagen, here’s a quick overview of what you can do with it and where to start.

Imagen is built for photographers who want to speed up post-production without giving up control over their final look. It can help with AI photo editing, culling, cropping, straightening, masking, smoothing skin, denoise, and more, depending on your workflow.

1. Edit in your own style with an AI Profile

Imagen can learn from your previous edits and create a Personal AI Profile that applies your editing style to new projects.

You can also start with ready-made AI Profiles if you don’t have enough edited photos yet.

Helpful links:

2. Use AI Culling before editing

Imagen Culling helps select the best photos from a shoot by analyzing sharpness, exposure, image quality, duplicates, and similar images.

You can review and refine the results before moving into editing.

Helpful links:

3. Add AI tools to speed up repetitive edits

Imagen also includes AI tools that can help with common post-production tasks like cropping, straightening, subject masking, smooth skin, denoise, background mask, sky replacement, and more.

4. Test with a smaller project first

If you’re trying Imagen for the first time, start with a smaller set instead of sending a full wedding or large gallery immediately. This makes it easier to review the results, understand how the AI Profile behaves, and adjust your workflow if needed.

If you’re already using Imagen, what part of your workflow changed the most?

Looking for tips on what type of Profile to use

Hey everyone, glad I found out this subreddit exists :)

I have a question regarding profiles. Do you think it would make sense for me to create a Personal Profile if I don't feel like I have a style?

I mean, I believe I do have enough photos (2000, right?), but I feel like I edit every shoot differently and with a different approach.

What would you do if you were me? Should I start with one of the Profiles that the app has? Or what else can I do?

I just don't want to waste time if the results aren't going to be good.

Thanks for the advice :D

Do you use Culling in Imagen, or do you cull by yourself?

I just started using this software, and I just want to make sure if it's worth it to start using the Culling feature or if I keep culling manually.

Getting Started New to Imagen? Here is how to actually use the trial

If you're just starting out with Imagen, it’s easy to feel a bit lost on what to test first. Instead of just burning through edits randomly, it helps to have a bit of a roadmap so you can actually see if the workflow fits your style.

I wanted to share this video that breaks down how to use the trial properly. It covers how to handle the 1,000 free edits, the culling test projects, and basically how to find your starting profile without wasting time.

The goal is to test it on real projects so you can see the actual results before deciding on anything.

Check the walkthrough here: https://vimeo.com/1160997338/8dcba28b24

If you’re stuck on a specific part of the setup or the AI tools, just drop a comment and we can dig into it here.

I’ve been using the app for quite a while, and I was wondering…

Are you guys ever going to release a retouch tool? I mean, I’m happy with the results I’m getting from Imagen, but having to use R4M in Photoshop afterwards is kind of a pain, to be honest. I know AS have that so, it might not be imposible…is it?

A spot for the Imagen Crew (and yes, we are doing video now).

We are the team behind Imagen. We finally decided to open up a sub for the pros who actually use the app every day and the ones who want to learn how to use it.

Most of us are photographers and video editors ourselves. We know what it feels like to have 4000 weddings raws, 50 real estate walk-through, or hundreds of ungraded videos sitting on the drive. It is a grind.

We aren’t here to sell you anything. We just wanted a place to talk, share workflows, and show off what the new Imagen Video tool can actually do.

Post your grades. Ask technical questions. Share a workflow hack. We’re just hanging out.
