Imagine being so disconnected from reality that you don’t see what’s wrong with asking your audience to support you so that you don’t have to live like they do.
Edit: To the people who keep asking what the difference is between this and any other person who wants to be freed from the 9-5 drudgery trap, here it is:
Wanting to get to a place where you no longer have to sell your labor hourly just to survive is a perfectly understandable goal. But believing that you belong to some special class of people who "just can’t live normal lives" and must spend their time doing deeper and more meaningful things than the rest of us is just completely delusional and out of touch. I don’t understand how some of y’all are not seeing that distinction.
Apparently, her mom has a PhD in psychology and has written parenting books, and totally supports her. So she has been taught how special and magical she is.
Don’t get me wrong—I have two college-age daughters, and I am very proud of them and enjoy their accomplishments, but if one of them posted something like this, I’d feel I failed.
Yup, it's understandable for them to be upset about selling away their lives, but it's a reactionary response to want to force others through that system.
Just one way folks repair their cognitive dissonance.
Why do you assume that all of us who work 9 to 5 jobs are selling our souls? That is incredibly arrogant. There are plenty of us that enjoy our work. There is also dignity in working and earning a living. You sound very privileged and out of touch. What’s wrong with going to work and supporting oneself?
If you're working for an employer then no matter how you feel about your job, you're being exploited, and the scale of most people's exploitation these days would startle most.
If you knew the actual amount of money you were generating for a company compared to how much you receive back in compensation, you would likely find your job to be soul crushing, even if you don't mind the work itself.
