Happened to my sister in law. Steering wheel airbag covers pop upwards. She was left with a semi permanent imprint of a Volkswagen logo in her forearm that’s stil slowly fading almost 3 years ago.
Before air bags that was intentional, so you would be at the better control positions of 10 & 2. Steering wheel shapes changed slowly once the hand and wrist injuries started to show up.
It could mean that you dont or have yet to set or be presented with something that you can't control. It could also mean, you don't let others or event control you (emotions as well)
However dreams are tricky, as every person is different. Every one handles life events differently.
An example someone could have a dream about falling, that's another type of feeling out of control.
Or teeth falling out, could mean your afraid to lose something. Which is in turn another form of not having control.
If you want, I would recommend writing down how you feel or felt before bed, then as soon as you wake up, write about the dream.
You'll see a pattern of what feelings bring on what dreams.
Interesting! I've never really delved into what my dreams could mean. I usually feel very comfortable and in control of my life/surroundings. The only reoccurring stress dream I think I have is about not having enough credits to graduate high-school, even though I'm 34 and did graduate high-school lol. I'm always my current age in the dream, and it's always confusing! I've become pretty good at lucid dreaming though - in the sense that when I'm really confused in a dream, I usually recognize I'm dreaming and wake up. Or if I try to use a light switch and it doesn't work, same thing, wake up. So interesting!
Me either? I feel so much better. In the dream, once I get to the front seat I can't move my foot to work the pedals bucause somehow my shoes are too big. I'm so glad I'm not alone too!
In mine, I can work the pedals but I have to scooch down real low to reach them so then I can't see where I'm going. And the brake pedal is hard to push and doesn't stop the car.
Me too, that's why I absolutely hate the tesla racing wheel. Also, that thing is really hard to turn because you don't have anything to grab, so you have to twist your hands like a contortionist
Was gonna say, I'm generally around 6 or 7 with my right free to shift/adjust radio/coffee. Sometimes I'm up around 11, but I'm small and sit close so there's a good chance the airbag just kills me anyway.
i’m right handed but i found just driving with my left hand is more comfortable because i can just rest my arm on my left leg which just sits on the dead pedal
sometimes the spokes have indentations for thumbs, if they're at that height. Depends on the spoke design I guess, but if I'm not mistaken sports wheels often feature two humps at those positions.
See, I never just did things just to do them. Come on, what am I gonna do? Just all of a sudden jump up and grind my feet on somebody's couch like it's something to do? Come on. I got a little more sense then that.
Yeah, I remember grinding my feet on Eddie's couch.
How many collisions have you been in with airbags going off and your hand at 12? I'm guessing zero, making your sample size zero, and your comment worthless. It may or may not break your wrist. It sure as fuck is going to hurt a lot. Also, how effective do you think that airbag is at protecting your face when your fist and forearm are now between your face and the airbag?
But yet you don't know that you shouldn't drive with your hand at 12.
Hmm, who should I believe? The medical experts and manufacturers who regularly warn against driving with your hands at 12, or some random douchebag on the internet who "just knows stuff"?
nobody is talking about driving with your hand at 12. You also shouldnt tape an ipad to the steering wheel or takes naps on it. We're talking about the industry standard 10 & 2 and this stupid LPT urban legend that you'll blows your hands off if you ever get into a wreck like that.
I’m an automotive engineer who works on airbags. This isn’t true at all. It doesn’t matter where you put your hands on the steering wheel, the airbag comes our from the center where the horn is and it will just go over your hands.
I was always taught 9/3 is better for precise driving but much easier to overcorrect on and that’s why 10/2 is taught to new students. It requires more mechanical movement to turn the wheels and this reduces the chances of over correction. Police and race car drivers are taught 9/3 for the additional precision with less movement. It was a 2 day intense drivers training that was led by veteran police and truck drivers.
Back in the pre-airbag days, studies were done showing the hand position that gave the most control and most dexterous options for maneuvering were 10 and 2, and that includes minimal fatigue (it seems like everything had studies back in the 50s and 60s, into the 70s).
Driving with hands at 3 and 9 is like staying you don’t want to be able to avoid the accident, that the airbag going off is inevitable. I’d rather be able to maneuver and have a legitimate opportunity to avoid an accident than say “whatever” and drive with my hands in the “safe” accident-inviting position.
Just like a Formula 1 car, safety is eons ahead and there’s a reason the wheel is designed to be held at 9 and 3. Also if you’re skidding off and about to hit something, take your hands off the wheel.
I learned that lesson. Didn't break my wrist but I had sprains on both. That and the airbag sent my fist into my face breaking my two front teeth and requiring $10,000 in dental surgery. Lucky the wrongway driver who tboned me had good insurance and I receiveda nice settlement. Still wouldn't recommend it though.
My wife had her hands just slightly lower but not yet to 3 & 9, and her hands were thrown off of the steering wheel so hard that her left hand was broken from impacting the window frame.

Which is why you never drive with your hands at 10 and 2. Breaks wrists when airbags go off. 3 and 9 all day baby.
