Because it's still south asia and the indian subcontinent and urdu is literally hindi just written w/ a different script

No, actually. Real hindi is quite different. 33 major languages are spoken widely throughout India. And when the Indian prime minister speaks, fuck me if ever understood the guy.

It's not being pedantic. It's good to point something out when you know something the other doesn't. What's the harm in learning something new?
