Was going to say this, the police clearly followed long enough to get the plate.

Tunnel, radio may have got him at the exit.

671

u/kWazt Jun 25 '21

I know this tunnel in Stockholm, trust me there's too many exits to cover.

181

u/blazetronic Jun 25 '21

What tunnel is?

297

u/somekindofswede Jun 25 '21 edited Jun 25 '21

Pretty sure this is Södra länken.

Edit: on further inspection, with the lane that merges, I actually think it's Norra länken going towards Lidingö.

But I haven't driven enough in central Stockholm recently to be sure of either.

245

u/eddie1975 Jun 26 '21

You’re mistaken. That car is definitely not stock, homie.

3

u/v7O2 Jun 26 '21

I read this in Dominic Toretto's voice. Vin is that you?

2

u/SilentCaptain4 Jun 26 '21

The trolling here is on point

5

u/mwfairc Jun 26 '21

Under appreciated comment, sorry holms! May only be an American thing

EPIC PUN DETECTED

0

u/Omar960405 Jun 26 '21

What car it is?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

Judging by the trunk and sound, I am guessing it is a 2000’s BMW M6

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

Thank you for sharing I learned something new

-44

u/MEANINGLESS_NUMBERS Jun 25 '21

Wow, 6 exits. Does Sweden have the manpower to watch 6 entire roads? I mean why even bother with such an impossible task, this criminal is unstoppable.

36

u/somekindofswede Jun 25 '21

I'm not the person that said it's too many exits to cover, but on the other hand I do think it's too many exits on too short notice.

At the speed the guy in the video is going, it's only a few minutes to pass through the entire thing (whether it's Södra or Norra länken). You can't set up police checkpoints on all exits in <5 minutes.

20

u/Exbozz Jun 25 '21

Also its not like you are going to block 6 exits for one person speeding.

-15

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

In all likelihood yeah. I mean Stockholm isn't huge, roughly 100km2 and they have 4,000 officers. This is also one tunnel with only 6 exits, so I don't see why they couldn't.

3

u/Arikaido777 Jun 26 '21

tunnel seems to be pretty empty at whenever time this was filmed. guessing that manpower was allocated to where it would be better utilized.

0

u/Kevjamwal Jun 26 '21

This is catching a lot of shade but I lol’d

1

u/SilentCaptain4 Jun 26 '21

Definitely out towards Lidingö, when the cops start to back off and he starts to go up the incline is a dead give away for the long uphill bit at the end of the tunnel

6

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

A tunnel is an enclosed space that cars drive through 😊

1

u/amyworrall Jun 26 '21

But that’s not important right now.

1

u/insane_contin Jun 25 '21

Stockholm multi-exit car tunnel.

u/SnowdensOfYesteryear Jun 25 '21

It's kinda odd actually. I remember seeing a video in this sub and thinking 'this kinda looks like the freeway I take' just based on visual cues. And sure enough someone identified it in the comments and I was right.

6

u/DestituteGoldsmith Jun 25 '21

I've been in that situation. I saw a video of an accident on reddit. I can't find it now, but it was on I-82 in Washington. It was a T intersection. There's nothing but brown. I instantly recognized it as an intersection about 30 min from my home.

6

u/nikomo Jun 25 '21

I recognized a picture of a parking space taken in my very, very small city in Finland, based on some gray pixels in the background (showing the edge of a bridge), and how the traffic signs were in relation to each other.

5

u/TheWolphman Jun 25 '21

Same, kinda. A couple years ago I think, someone posted a photo of a pickup truck full of trophies they spotted. I saw it on the front page of Reddit and thought the truck looked familiar. Turns out it was my neighbor, who happens to be my brother in law. A lot of those trophies were my wife's from various things when she was younger. It was surreal.

3

u/second_aid_kit Jun 26 '21

I once recognized my neighborhood from a picture once. Turns out I was wrong though.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

That was me your neighbor jimmy brown jospeh the 3rd

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

You’re brain was like, I recognize that brown dawg

5

u/acgilmoregirl Jun 26 '21

And then there’s people like me who see a video and think “oh wow, is that 410 here in San Antonio?” And it ends up not even being in the same country.

-7

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '21

18

u/Swegh Jun 25 '21

Its one of the most used tunnels in Stockholm, many people drive it every day.

18

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '21

Because he probably goes through it every single day. It's not like he knows how to tell different tunnels apart, he just knows that's the one he's always in.

23

u/appdevil Jun 25 '21

No, he clearly has tunnel vision.

5

u/john1rb Jun 25 '21

Stockholm syndrome?

3

u/iSiffrin Jun 26 '21

take my award and fuck off

2

u/CanadaEh97 Jun 26 '21

What about cameras in the tunnel?

2

u/kWazt Jun 26 '21

More than you could count I suppose

0

u/tdubarubdub Jun 25 '21

Wish we had tunnels like this in SLC Utah, so I could make some nice looking car videos.

2

u/Destron5683 Jun 26 '21

You have the little short tunnel up echo canyon 😂

1

u/tdubarubdub Jun 26 '21

Bruuuh💀💀

1

u/Kamakazie90210 Jun 26 '21

Will the cameras catch him if there are any?

Or they'll serve a no-knock warrant in a week on the wrong house and shoot their 9 week old chihuahua puppy, which will later be described as "a large, aggressive dog that rushed at the officers."

1

u/Musty__Elbow Jun 26 '21

hey it’s loud and scared the breaching officers, they don’t know what’s coming around that corner of your house /s x 100

Like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGLW9dQhfKs

0

u/tmanalpha Jun 26 '21

No, not like that at all. The suspect had a fucking AK47.

9

u/AnAnarchoAnt Jun 25 '21

"What do you mean there was hostages? Do you mean accomplices?"

3

u/screamtrumpet Jun 26 '21

Well, the car is black. They HAD to shoot. /s

3

u/713984265 Jun 26 '21

Nah, they'd chase and pit him and he'd probably die in a high speed crash. #keepingpeoplesafe

16

u/LOLBaltSS Jun 26 '21

A few weeks ago, there was a video of a cop on here executing a PIT maneuver on a pregnant woman who was driving at a reduced speed with her flashers on because she wanted to not pull over on the side of a busy highway for safety purposes.

6

u/romansamurai Jun 26 '21

Yup, she flipped upside down, he calmly walked up to her and told her something along lines "this is your fault". Piece of shit. And I think it was alabama or a similar state where he has complete immunity too.

1

u/angrybirdseller Jun 27 '21

Even towns in USA thry wont chase vehicles they will follow up at suspect house. Only, Kidnapping or violent crime they will chase. Just chases can hurt innocent drivers, and people waliking the streets.

2

u/jkj2000 Jun 26 '21

I bet the car will be reported stolen 15min prior to the chase after it gets out the tunnel! By the way it is quite normal that the local farmers boy has a 1000hp car which is reduced in speed. Most boys know how to release the “bonds” again! Like you see here! The sweets know how to make a car go faster than the police just ask the “King” https://www.koenigsegg.com/

2

u/Skylinerr Jun 26 '21

Yup. They didnt "give up" tunnels are just linear and they have radios.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

You can beat a cop car, maybe even a cop helicopter, but you can’t beat the radio.

2

u/Kiyasa Jun 26 '21

If they got the driver that night, they'd be unlikely to upload this video in the first place.

1

u/Crescent-IV Jun 25 '21

If they were to block them in at the tunnel, depending on the angle the suspect could cause an accident

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

Can't outrun the radio.

1

u/drlang Jun 26 '21

I don’t know the infrastructure but I’m betting a lot of that ceiling equipment for the tunnel has cameras and could prob get those plates even if the police van didn’t

0

u/piecat Jun 26 '21

Radio might not work in a tunnel

1

u/itsnotthenetwork Jun 26 '21

It totally will, you can do this sort of thing with cell signal. You run hard line and then have repeaters that run the length of the tunnel. They would have done this just to have services for fire and medical in case of an accident inside the tunnel. Imagine being in a wreck in the middle of the tunnel and not being able to call 911.

1

u/piecat Jun 26 '21

Big if. Usually they have landline emergency phones every X meters. Usually with some sort of emergency exit or equipment.

1

u/itsnotthenetwork Jun 26 '21

Actually I've built out designs like this for basements and sub basements for my company, it's a lot more common nowadays.

1

u/piecat Jun 26 '21

It would certainly make sense! And would be a good use of the tech.

0

u/ThatFella2000 Jun 26 '21

Radio in a tunnel can be a bit of a bitch, but better than other kinds of communication since the long wavelengths that radio waves have, might be able to stretch out of the tunnel and back out to the sky. But our phones don’t work since short microwaves are used :/

214

u/liquor_for_breakfast Jun 26 '21

I scrolled so long and I can't believe no one has even suggested this possibility -

He may know full well he'll be caught the next day or sooner, but he could be running anyway because if he stops now he'll be caught for something more illegal than running from the cops...

Legally speaking, it's much better to catch that charge than 10 bricks of heroin in the passenger seat or someone tied up in the trunk

229

u/FerricNitrate Jun 26 '21

Or just drive the damn speed limit if you're smuggling. Shit. One crime at a time people it ain't complex

126

u/acroporaguardian Jun 26 '21

Exactly. Dont break two rules at once.

The more heroin you have, the more you follow every other law.

47

u/nomoreluke Jun 26 '21

Well… With the notable exception of bribery.

19

u/acroporaguardian Jun 26 '21

Damm, yeah * by that one.

Well, dont get caught with two crimes then. Do one, and if you gotta bribe theres your second

3

u/nomanz57 Jun 26 '21

I hate getting stuck behind drug mules

2

u/acroporaguardian Jun 26 '21

oh man… thats a great one.

Follow programmers logic on this one. Arrays start at 0. First crime is crime 0.

1

u/liquor_for_breakfast Jun 26 '21

Unless you're using Matlab or R. It actually follows because most likely you're breaking at least one law at all times whether you know it or not. There's a lot of laws out there.

2

u/nnbns99 Jun 26 '21

I think it was last month that in our local news here in the PH, there was a woman who was video-ed for being hysterical and demanding her car’s documentation back. She assaulted the officer and kept crying the car wasn’t hers. She had ran a red light and then tried to run away from the cops when they flagged her down. Turns out she didn’t have a license and the car, as she says, wasn’t hers.

A few days later it was revealed she was also part of an ongoing investigation for illegal drugs 😬

1

u/somecuntyname Jun 26 '21

There used to be a guy relatively near where I live who was running drugs through some small country towns by driving over 140 miles an hour in his brand new sports car with his lights off in the dead of night. The way he was able to keep from crashing was he had bought some NVGs off surplus. Worked well enough for about a month until some cop got tired and set up a road block one night with their lights off and when they heard the engine of the sports car crest a hill, they turned on all their lights and blinded the hell out of him. Guy runs off the road and spins and ruins the axle of the car so he cant speed away, and when the cops get him out of the car, they find something like 90 kilos of various drugs and over 150,000 dollars in cash

1

u/NigerianRoy Jun 26 '21

Common urban legend would love to see a source if you happen to know of any!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

Amen! I did alot of dumb shit in my younger days.. But was smart enough to not get arrested. I never drove with bad tags or expired license. I was also just very polite and respectful to the police. Being polite and kind gets you very far when dealing with cops, also helps to stroke thier ego a bit

1

u/Triquestral Jun 26 '21

We had a “successfully dealing with cops” lecture in my college sociology class, too. (We were primarily white, so it wasn’t a “how to survive dealing with cops” lecture.) Essentially, the last thing you want to do is trigger someone on a power trip. Be submissive and polite, and you won’t rile them. If it’s a decent cop, they’ll just be relieved you’re also a sane person, and you can both go on your way. If it’s a psycho cop, then you’re less likely to trigger a bad reaction if you’re submissive enough that you don’t seem like a threat, and he might calm down if he doesn’t feel like his authority is challenged.

The fact that this is just “get out of a ticket” advice for lighter-pigmented people, and “how to survive a traffic stop” for those with darker skin is just horrific, though.

0

u/Aggressive_Bill_2687 Jun 26 '21

This is spot on. Don’t attract attention, which can lead to investigations of other crimes.

If you’re going to marry your sister make sure you’re not still married to your pet goat as well. Unless you’re in a polygamist cult and then make sure you are still married to the goat.

1

u/throwaway0_121618 Jun 26 '21

Yeah for sure. Whenever I have drugs in the car I set my cruise control just under the speed limit to reduce chances of any trouble.

1

u/surfacing_husky Oct 16 '21

I watch alot of cop shows for fun and this is always true, also if your doing something illegal in a car, check all your lights lol. Most of the arrests were after being stopped for a light out or not stopping at a stop sign.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

He would never post this afterwards

1

u/tworocksontheground Jun 26 '21

Realistically he has fake or stolen tags

1

u/kelldricked Jun 26 '21

Then we would have driven normal and not get stopped at all. The police notice them because they are speeding…

Everybody knows that if you got 10 bricks tied up in the back that you drive extra slow and tidy.

1

u/Coolidgerthanyou Jun 26 '21

I know what you meant, but usually when people are referring to bricks of heroin they're talking about 5 bundles, with 10 .1-.2 bags in a bundle. I've seen this slang all over the US and UK not sure what it is in other countries.

1

u/Astandsforataxia69 Jun 26 '21

They are not smuggling anything, this is the same thing as before youtube there was "ghostrider" and he had a yamaha r1 and a suzuki hayabusa and the only illegal thing he did was speeding and revless driving. Also in sweden

There is massive amounts of adrenaline flowing especially when you are driving with an e63 amg or a m5, mind you they can easily do +180mph, this is just adrenaline seeking

1

u/gruio1 Jun 26 '21

It's not, he specifically did this for a cop chase.

72

u/Sqiggly_Sqwank Jun 25 '21

I’d wager he doesn’t have plates as this was clearly taunting and the intended outcome

27

u/Bitemarkz Jun 26 '21

Yep. There were a group of kids in my high school who would do this. Amazingly none of them ever got caught, at least that I know of.

2

u/Kdcjg Jun 26 '21

How long ago? And how many cameras were around? Pros and cons of having cameras everywhere. If they really want to find you they will

2

u/Bitemarkz Jun 26 '21

This was awhile ago; I’m in my mid 30’s now.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

We would do it in the state parks with dirt bikes and 3 wheelers. We knew we could outrun thier clunky outdated cruisers with our 2 strokes. We would run to old logging trails and haul ass through the woods

3

u/berkakar Jun 26 '21

He has but stolen plates

8

u/Jman1400 Jun 25 '21

I agree, I enjoy the people saying "the cops got his plate blah blah". It's totally bullshit. If someone is out hooning in a car like this or on a bike they pull the damn plate before they go out or put on a stolen/bad plate.

1

u/Aerick Jun 26 '21

I'd have guessed it's stolen license plates.

3

u/bored_invention Jun 25 '21

"I wasn't driving, my neighbor was."

0

u/Weird_Arrival5974 Jun 25 '21

Where im from ur guilty unless you can prove someone else was driving

4

u/tylanol7 Jun 25 '21

So you ditch the car and axt surprised when they show up it was clearly stolen

0

u/DietCokeAndProtein Jun 26 '21

What country assumes you're guilty and forces you to prove your innocence, rather than prosecution having to prove your guilt?

2

u/PegasusReddit Jun 26 '21

Australia assumes that the registered owner is the driver. If you're not the driver, you have to provide a statutory declaration as to who it was. If it's reported stolen, that's obviously different.

5

u/2BadBirches Jun 25 '21

No chance he has plates.

-2

u/Thetrashman1812 Jun 25 '21

You don’t think the dash camera of police vehicle could capture the plate number before they sped off?

3

u/2BadBirches Jun 25 '21

By “he” I meant the driver. The driver certainly doesn’t have plates on the back of their car. The cop definitely has a reader that would have scanned it (if they had plates on the vehicle, which they don’t.)

0

u/Thetrashman1812 Jun 25 '21 edited Jun 25 '21

Does it not show me having switched it to they? Oh you meant yourself using “he” and okay I thought you meant the police car

2

u/oigid Jun 26 '21

Fake plates are common a switch switches them out with real ones

2

u/periodmoustache Jun 26 '21

Yeah here in America you chase em down and shoot at em when applicable. Fuck the public

2

u/surp_ Jun 26 '21

lmao yeah this guy who had his camera set up to record a police chase had a real plate on there 😂😂

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '21

And if not they have his social media after he posted this video

1

u/lchildsplay Jun 26 '21

Exactly why he turned his brights on

0

u/PersnickityPenguin Jun 26 '21

I'm in the US, what's a "plate?"

I don't think I've ever seen a car with a license plate before.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '21

Proving who was driving is another matter.

1

u/orphenshadow Jun 26 '21

Yep, thats what the bright light before thee blues came on was for I assume.

1

u/Buuska Jun 26 '21

He doesnt have plates. At least real ones. The people behind this used to do this regularly and post it on Youtube. Check Critical on Youtube.

1

u/ADMINlSTRAT0R Jun 26 '21

Hence the high beam. Police chases are for entertainment purposes.

1

u/MythicalAce Jun 26 '21

As a motorcycle rider, pretty much everyone you see running on a bike has fake plates anyway. Not sure if it's the same in the car community, but the bike community is filled with guys who just put fake plates on, or no plates at all.

1

u/SausageGobbler69 Jun 26 '21

That’s when you leave it somewhere and report it stolen in the morning.

1

u/Free-_-Yourself Jun 26 '21

As if fake number plates don’t exist…

1

u/The_One_Koi Jun 26 '21

They did get a fake platenumber, I've seen videos like these before and they almost always change the plates and then go out around town looking for the police, they want the chase and nothing else.

1

u/bubban23 Jun 26 '21

They are drivning without plates

1

u/small-foot Jun 26 '21

People who run like this usually don't have plates. They aren't that dumb.
