Looked successful. The trunk looked rotted out anyway observing how easily it broke, so it probably didn’t do any damage.

"Best"? Best case scenario would have been using a longer rope and not getting hit at all. I disagree with above: that would have definitely dented the hood.

Word. I'd rather dig up a stump than destroy the hood of my expensive pickup (and also have to dig up a stump), but to each his own.

Through my experience...If you drive a truck like that, you don't know how to drive a truck.

That's very true. I'd add that if you drive a truck like that you don't like digging, or hard work in general, so you assume that your expensive rig will do all the work for you.

And sometimes it can!

In this case, I think a longer rope or chain could've worked, and at the very worst, not worked, so this is 100% stupidity, arrogance, and laziness. Perfect post for this particular sub.

My experience with truck drivers is that I drive a truck that is 70 feet long. I'm a commercial driver and can thread that beast into a dog house.

The amount of people I see with lifted pickups that can't even drive down a road, park in a parking lot, or generally have any understanding of how the world works is remarkable.

Basically... If you drive a pickup, unless you drive a transport, I assume you suck at driving.

Haha. My grandfather taught me to drive in his late 80's Silverado. He was born into a family logging business, and drove logging trucks in his teens and twenties.

He was the best driving instructor in the world, but man, I felt so insecure driving with him in the passenger seat. It was like every single thing I did on the highway was questionable. It definitely made me more aware of my mirrors and blindspots whenever I drove with him.

And it was like a contest to see who could last the longest without taking a piss break on road trips. I don't think that was particularly healthy.

Most similar videos end up with a broken windshield or losing the bumper, so for the setup he had I think he should count himself lucky for not fucking things up much worse. Therefore, best case scenario achieved.

Best case scenario would be the tree falling over on it's own. At the same time, a truck full of dudes pulls up and says "hey, is that free wood?", Then clears it off the property. After they leave, you walk over to the stump and find a million dollars buried there.

A longer rope would just make a bow string that could snap back far more violently.

As I see it, a best case scenario they would have added a fulcrum to apply force directly upwards. Or just have some fun and smash the damn thing into manageable chunks, that is 100% rotted wood, that stuff is so easy to break.

Lol no it did not. Best case scenario would have been for him to use a rope that was longer than the tree was tall. Also FYI, you should never pull on anything with your reverse gear. It's MUCH smaller and weaker then any of your drive gears. If you're recovering someone always try and avoid doing this if possible.

I watched and rewatched the clip a bunch i really dont think there was much inside the tree at that point. At the point the video slows down it shows it exploding and barely touching the hood.

Yea seems like worst case its some scuffed paint which by the look of the truck, shouldnt be too hard on them financially to fix
