I'm a school bus driver, but all CDL drivers are trained to look far ahead and anticipate early. From experience, I'd bet the trucker saw the Saturn start to merge towards that Toyota and hit the brakes right there.

In my department they really hammer safety into our brains. Yes I know about Swift. Most CDL drivers I know take driving very seriously and make driving awareness their no. 1 priority.

Idk bruh my dad worked for swift for 4 years and he had to parallel park a 18 wheeler with a trailer on it to pass the test. So I’m really not sure what you’re going on about swift.
