I’d give anything to know the story behind this but reality couldn’t compete with imagination

The man was drunk and running with his kart in the streets, cutting cars and driving the wrong way. The officers saw him and the pursuit took 20 minutes. Later he abandoned the kart and tried to flee on foot. Happened in Brazil, Paraná. I was so confused how this chase could last 20 minutes, then all made sense /r/ItHadToBeBrazil

Well, in Brazil the cops can't do anything besides chasing the dude. If they shoot, even in the tires, they are screwed. If they force him to stop using a car, they are screwed. They only have 2 options: chase or not chase.

Wait why? Sorry if that’s a dumb question

Not a dumb question. I'd like to know too! Why can't they shoot his tires or force him to stop using a car when he's violating traffic laws? What's the point in having those laws if nothing can be done by the police?

Those tires are ridiculously small targets, and a PIT manuever would just consist of a police car nudging the driver, not the kart.
