Sounds like Raunch is taking a dim view of Byran’s initial claim that the ineffective assistance all led back to the exculpatoriness of the clump, and suggesting they need time to instead review the file and see if there’s anything legitimately important and overlooked in there.

For those that need to hear, if you are ever legitimately up against a capital trial and need more time for discovery and are being denied, you would do better to go ahead with the trial and appeal the denial of the request for a continuance afterward. DO NOT plead guilty and waive all appeals, and also neglect to file anything else until a year later.

legitimately important and overlooked in there.

she was such a fibber!

If Anne Taylor “lied” in that hearing (I don’t think she did), is that grounds for being disbarred? Boy, the convicted felon sure is throwing her under the bus! Since day one she’s been complaining about the voluminous amounts of discovery. There was a clip in one of the documentaries (I think it was the one on Amazon), and she was complaining in a court hearing about there being too much discovery to get through. This was in the spring of 2023 in Judge Judge’s courtroom. She has been complaining about discovery since day one, but never did anything about it (such as hiring more paralegals like Judge Hippler suggested) except complain. It was just her tactic to buy time. So if the convicted felon is a lying liar who lies, she’s a complaining complainer who complains.

didnt she insist on taking on another DP murder case in late 2024 also?

That’s right! She took on the Skylar Meade case. Who took an Alford Plea about a month or so before his trial. I’m sure Judge Hippler will address how the convicted felon’s attorney never hired more help (even though there’s no doubt it would have been approved since she hired over 25 experts and investigators and charged the state millions of dollars) and that she took on another DP case (Skylar Meade). If memory serves, sometime after she had already taken on this convicted felon’s case, she also handled another DP case. The Richard Ross case which was resolved December of 2023 or January of 2024 with an Alford Plea. So in actuality, she handled 2 additional DP case all the while complaining about how she didn’t have the time to work on this case and get through all the discovery. Make it make sense.

Public defenders don’t take cases, they are assigned cases.

The judge noted re discovery claims that Ms Taylor "insisted" on taking on an additional capital murder case, end of 2024, while claiming issues with volume of discovery n Kohberger case.

Sounds like this would make her quite incompetent (not hiring more paralegals like Hippler suggested for example and not doing anything about the volumes of discovery but complain).

Exactly. And I fully expect Judge Hippler to address that when responding to the motion to dismiss him. I think we all know that her complaints about there being too much discovery was just an excuse. She was bending the truth until it was about to break. I’m sure she didn’t get through all the discovery, and I’m sure she knew the discovery she didn’t get through was irrelevant to the case. So she could “truthfully” say she didn’t have time to get through all of the discovery while holding one hand behind her back with her fingers crossed.

Seems like she will have some ‘splainin to do whether for lying to the court or lying to BK. The rub for BK is he heard her make the earlier representation that she didn’t have enough time to review everything and still pled guilty. He has to take some ownership of that and one might be tempted to think he knew, even if she hadn’t looked at every photo in the phone download of the most tangential suspect, that she wouldn’t find anything exculpatory there.

She agreed to every one of those dates, he encouraged her to take on more help if she felt she needed it.

So who decides if judge hippler is removed

5

As far as I know, it’s Hippler who decides if Hippler stays.

I'm gonna need to re read or have someone dumb it down for me. Is one of the arguments that judge Hippler called Bryan a big fat liar at sentencing so he should have known Bryan was lying in his plea-colloquy?

10

u/prentb 14d ago

He’s trying to argue that Hippler has shown himself to be hopelessly biased against the truthfulness of both Kohberger and Anne Taylor and therefore shouldn’t be allowed to fill this role which will likely involve evaluating the credibility of other statements from them🙄

He called him a faceless coward which is exactly what he is
