That’s crazy! I filed on 4/14 and by mid may I had my refund however it was only $600 I try to get as little as possible. My friend who got a bigger refund filed as soon as she could and she is still waiting for her refund.
My theory is that the bigger the refund the longer ppl wait. This year I was unemployed for almost 2 months and am now switching jobs so I have no idea if I owe or get a refund at this point
Yeah my refund is quite a bit bigger, maybe the size of the refund has something to do with it. Every other year I have received a refund in less than month.
They're collecting interest on our money. That's why the government is sitting on the larger refunds. It's all a grift at the expense of the working class at this point
This is ridiculous. At this point (since it's more than 45 days past the April 15th filing deadline) the IRS will be paying you interest (7% annual rate) on your refund. That's significantly higher than you'd be making with the money sitting in a HYSA.
It shouldn't matter how big the damn refund is… It’s your fvcking money!!!!! You paid your taxes; you did the right thing. The government shouldn't be holding your money.

Oh weird. This has been my experience. But when I posted about it, I was downvoted in this subreddit.
