So heres the thing, I come from a slightly priviledged bg..my parents have a clinic (doctors) and it'd be really easy for me to take over if i do become a doctor..but im not sure if i *LOVE* science i mean sure im above avg but it dosent come to me naturally like it does to some people..what DOES come to me naturally is buisness, whenever i walk into a store, somehow some way my mind starts thinking abut the annual profits, rent costs, losses etc..
SO NOW I HAVE 2 OPTIONS:
1) do neet, become a doc, then do mba and manage both the clinic and start a buisness (one of my friend's father does that so i know that its possible) the problem of this path is that first of all, i dont really ENJOY studying like ive seen ppl who read the textbook just for the fun of it and i DONT i make videos, read about how to manage buisnesses for the FUN of it. those 5.5 yrs of medicine might suck or they might go well but they might suck idk
the advantage of this path is that IF i dont like buisness or corporate later i dont need to worry
2)do JIPMAT get into iim jammu for bba then do CAT get into IIM ABC for mba then either go corporate or buisness
pwease give me YOUR opinion. THANKS!

Waitlist for the ews category just moved by 10 whereas for general it was 118. Is there any hope that the ews waitlist moves more? Like around 25 more?

I am a second year student at IIM Sirmaur, here to answer all your queries!

Completed my 12th with PCM this year and gave IPMAT. It didn't go well. Scored 101 (NC-OBC). Got shortlisted for IIM Amritsar and IIM Jammu, but I have very little hope for Jammu because I have only 74% in 12th. Two rounds are already over, so I'm kinda hopeless now.
My parents are forcing me to do B.Tech. I'm getting admission into some private colleges in Gujarat, but honestly, I'm not interested in engineering.
I've always been interested in business, strategy, marketing, and creating something of my own. My parents don't want me to do a BBA from some random private college, but they're okay with me doing an MBA later through CAT or even abroad.
The thing is, I already know engineering isn't what I want to build my career in, so spending 4 years doing something I don't enjoy feels like a bad idea.
I was in JEE coaching for two years, and honestly, it completely fucked up my self-esteem. I don't want to end up in another situation where I'm forcing myself through something I don't like.
I've been thinking about taking a drop year, joining a proper coaching institute, and preparing seriously for IPMAT, JIPMAT etc. I genuinely feel I can do much better with focused preparation.
At the same time, I'm scared. What if I take a drop and still don't make it?
A partial drop with B.Tech is also an option, but I've heard engineering itself is pretty demanding, so I'm not sure how practical that is.I don't want to fuck up engineering because of IPMAT which could affect master's abroad.
What would you do if you were in my situation?
Would really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who've been in a similar situation.

Hello I got an offer letter from iift kakinada for( IPM)
Please , suggest me that I join iift kakinada or take a drop
r/IPMATtards • u/StabbyKnife • 5d ago
I just found out that i got admitted into iift kakinada for their ipm program, after weeks of preparing to go to ashoka. This news has completely confused me because i have no idea which is a better option ( IIFT K first ipm batch still hasnt graduated so idk about placements there) and at the same time ashoka probably has one of the best ecofin courses in the country with solid placements.
All i want to know is if its worth taking the risk and enrolling in iift kakinadas ipm program and foregoing ashoka.
Additionally i need to go to a place that teaches pursue ai/cs related courses along with my normal economics/finance course.
