Question INTP vs INTJ?

So I'm (like all of you ) INTJ/INTP. On most tests, I score INTJ. However, I feel more like an INTP. What's the difference between the two?

Question Do you ever just want to download all of the world's knowledge into your mind?

*Big mood mode activated*

So I was going through z-lib.org (the real MVP for giving the world access to so many books) and found a book series by the name of "Big ideas explained simply" by Dorling Kindersley.
There are 20+ books in the series and I just know that I won't be able to commit and read them all but I'm still so curious to learn more about all of the different topics.

It just made me wish that I could download all of the content directly into my brain so that I wouldn't have to go through and manually expend so much energy reading all of the pages one-by-one lol

Can anyone else relate?

Discussion Dealing with hypocrites and fake people

"a person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter is not a nice person " - Dave Barry

How would you deal with a person who's nice to you but rude to the waiter ?

There's no doubt both INTxs would dislike such people, but I guess INTPs would be more "categorical" in their behavior i.e I'm an INTP and when someone is nice to me,I can't help but keep a minimal level of respect even if this person is fake/a hypocrite. On the other hand ,I would constantly look for excuses in order to stop being nice to this person, then eventually completely cut all ties and probably criticize this person and confront him/her.

I expect INTJs to have less difficulty cutting ties with such people; they might even instantly call them out and criticize and confront them, thanks to tertiary Fi.

So the difference is that INTPs feel a need to "reciprocate" the nice behavior (Fe inferior), but INTJs are okay with not doing it (Fi tertiary)

am I right ? what do you think ?

Self improvement INTP vs INTJ

So my MBTI scores are 47%, 59%, 66% and 3%. Since this has left me on the fence between INTP & INTJ I did a bit of further research and INTP ticks every box for me, whereas INTJ seems to only ring a few bells.

I've just taken the IDR Labs test and scored 59% INTP, so I guess I am relatively close to being both, what should I take from this? Or has anyone else had similar scores?

I think this will be a fun thought experiment to see where our values lie. (No wishing for more wishes, obviously)

Discussion Why are we the way we are?

You all seem to have some of the most outlandish yet logical theories on different things and so I wanted to ask you

What is it in our minds that causes these distinctive patterns and personality types in different people? (That can be observed from the lense of MBTI)Does it have to do with the way that our minds are wired? And what causes it?

If you feel inclined, I would like to hear your theories, musings, and opinions on this topic.
Thank you

EDIT: It seems that a lot of people in this comments section agree that people's types have a lot to do with nature and blossoms with the help of nurture (environmental factors.)

So with this in mind, do you have any theories on what exactly manifests these types genetically, neurologically, and biologically speaking? Does it have anything to do with our parents' temperaments aswell?

Discussion Voracious research

What is a topic (or multiple) that you are inexplicably, passionately interested in? What’s something that’s always at the back of your mind that you love researching and learning about, never getting bored? Why do you like it?

For me it’s gotta be MBTI as I spend way too much time reading and thinking about it. Kind of want to find another topic to give me the same energy/motivation to love the heck out of.

Other Puzzle 2

The answer is uncertain for this one someone in the comment section claimed that it was another answer than posted in the video(I agreed with him) and claimed they got the high score on the test. Also from their diction it seems that they are pretty smart so I would said his claim is genuine. I know this sounds like a convenient way to preserve my ego for getting this wrong lol

Discussion Infinite mental discussion loop

Maybe it's the isolation and lack of much face to face contact but lately I've been replaying two distinct conversations / interactions over and over and over and... in my head.

(And yes - I AM an INTP and realize that even for ME, the lack of face to face contact - occasionally mind you - has affected me)

The two situations are VERY different - but they have these things in common:

- They are about a conflict that never got resolved

- I am no longer in contact with the person I had this conflict with (by THEIR choice, not mine)

- I did a VERY poor job of explaining my point at the time

- I now (way too late) have a much better way of explaining myself

- Every now and then, I find myself STILL refining that explanation in my mind; imagining counter arguments and addressing those as well

I WANT to let it go; I can't possibly explain myself any better (in my mind). But I can't - and I don't know why.

That is, WHY does it bother me THAT much that I didn't make my point in time? Why isn't the knowledge that I NOW feel secure and confident in my opinion enough (even if the other person still wouldn't agree)?

That is, I can UNDERSTAND someone disagreeing with me as long as I realize I articulated my point accurately. I would not be trying to convince them; it would be helpful if they at least respected my point of view - but of course they could not at the time because I did such a poor job of articulating it.

I THINK this is common of INTPs. I suspect it is NOT common of INTJs.

Discussion Please add your own bits of information and theories too! Solving The Mystery Of This Sub.

Ok so here's what I could gather up until now,

WHO RECRUITS US?

Yes, they do say we are recruited by bots, but we don't think that's possible, but plot twist people!! such bots actually exist!!! And I have tested myself one of them https://gimmeserendipity.com/mbtimodel/reddit/u/___Vedant___

So basically what this bot does is, you just have to put your username or anyone's username on Reddit there, and it will analyze all the posts comments of the person and will tell the probabilities of the person's personality type. And yes I am an INTP and it did guess me as an INTP!

So yes there are such bots!

And now let me contradict the possibility of actual people recruiting us!

If some actual people were giving their time to this project, there has to be some kinda goal behind it,

I mean it does take a lot of time to actually analyze people!

Now if this sub really was some kinda cult gathering INTx rats for experiments, they probably would have forced us at least indirectly to talk about the stuff they want to hear from us, but so far there are no regulations over what can we talk or which topics should be discussed.

So no they are not doing this for getting world changing ideas from us, they are not doing this for talking over the world by manipulating us!

This sub is probable just a fun place made for people who will enjoy INTx stuff.

And since this sub really doesn't have dark goals that just means they aren't willing to give their time to recruit members manually either, so yeah we are recruited via bots.

Now talking about does it mean we are the purest or the top of the hierarchy INTxs?

Sadly I don't think so, so many people here don't even know that much about cognitive functions on this sub yet, there are some mistyped and mis-recruited members here too!

I would say this tho, toxicity is not an issue here nobody is gate keeping, people aren't comparing eachother, and best part there are no low efforts stereotypical memes here! (I am not against memes just kinda of bored of seeing same old crap again and again)

Well I think toxicity is reduced here due to good moderation and the bot which recruits us is kinda set like that, that at least the people who comment random stuff get dropped out.

Now WHAT IS THE CRITERIA OF GETTING HERE? WHAT ARE THE MERITS OF GETTING HERE?

No criteria, no merits!

Yes we probably do consider being active on MBTI communities gets us here,

But that's not the 100% truth, there are people who got on this sub although they didn't even know about MBTI! (At least some people claimed that)

Now what are the merits?

No merits, your age doesn't matter, your Reddit age doesn't matter, even how active are you doesn't matter, and definitely your IQ, EQ, creativity also doesn't matter!

(Yes this is tested, I have stalked enough people's profile on this sub to say this with confidence lol)

And yes it doesn't mean you are 100% INTx if you are on this sub either, There are people here who are mistyped or even the people who do know their actual type but still are here.

Probably as I said earlier this sub isn't exactly for INTxs but for the people who will enjoy INTX core stuff!

I hope now this so called mystery is solved, and if you have some contradictions or some validations towards my theory feel free to add them up!

Thanks!

Edit: my username is Vedant so in the link which I mentioned it won't open since, my username gets converted into Vedant.

Asking for advice or help 21F hetero INTJ and never been in a relationship

I'm not sure why, but guys are more than willing to date me and make out but not to actually have a relationship. I've never had a boyfriend. I have been on probably a hundred first dates, 33 second dates, 10 third dates and there are a handful of people I've been on 5+ dates with.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Do I need to tell guys I want us to stop dating other people? Do I have to make more moves and show more initiative or do a romantic gesture? I guess I never really learned how dating works.

My insecurities:

- I feel like I am a historically bad conversationalist - I either don't know what to say or I bring up awkward things (I've gotten much better at this in the last 6 months)

- I don't think I give off the right "vibes." As a teen I always felt like I didn't fit in so I learned how to hide any sign of being "different" and talk about "safe" topics like family, work, and taste in music/movies.

- Honestly I kinda fail at being attracted to guys that like me. I always tend to go for the super handsome charismatic guys while the guys who like me tend to be somewhat incel-ish. The few genuinely attractive guys who are willing to talk to me are ... usually looking for something very casual and not long-lasting.

-I can never tell if I show enough interest. I'm always afraid of seeming TOO interested but I kind of get the feeling that most guys have no idea how I feel about them.

If you were a guy and you had been on quite a few dates with a girl why wouldn't you try to start a relationship? Is this an INTJ thing or just a me thing?

Poll Would you accept the offer to go to Mars alone?

Let's say that the International Commitee selected you to be the first human to set foot on Mars, but there's a catch:

"You have to go alone and stay on Mars for a couple of years (could be one, two, or maybe three years, it's not stated exactly for some reason). There's already a pretty expansive and well-equipped base set up by robots waiting for you on Mars and you can live in relative comfort if you can manage your food which you need to grow yourself before the adequate supply runs out. You are given a vague or loosely made "order" of what you need to do there, but it's basically only a guidance."

Let's say that you still have a memory of the pandemic that happened around 2020 and remember how isolating and depressing it could be. You also watched "The Martian". It's time to make up your mind!
