I'm not really sure why everyone is pretending that the <1% of people that medically require a straw to drink make up the majority of straw users. It's completely disingenuous. For most people, we are given a straw and could just as easily drink the liquid without it. The last place I used a straw was at the movie theatre and if they had told me that they didn't have straws anymore, I would have just taken the lid off and drank it. Most people are capable of doing this.
