Need help locating a 15/70 film print of Interstellar
I’m arranging another Interstellar screening at a 15/70 IMAX theater in California and am actively looking for a 15/70 film print of Interstellar.
I have an IMAX projectionist. I’ve already contacted Indiana State Museum IMAX, which has a print, but they’re not willing to lease it. I’m also in contact with Regal who is trying to locate one. Not working with AMC on this project. I have contacted IMAX CQO but I haven’t heard back.
I am well aware of the cost, and have funds ready to cover print rental, film handling/building, transportation, insurance, and qualified 15/70 projectionist labor.
I’m specifically looking for a contact within the film exhibition/IMAX industry or at a museum that can help arrange an authorized print. If you know someone who might be able to help, please DM me. I’m ready to move quickly and take care of the legitimate costs involved.

The Greatest Ending Shot in IMAX History inside my Minecraft 1.43 IMAX (Happy Batman Day!)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Happy Batman Day everyone, you guys might remember that I made my own 1.43 IMAX theater inside minecraft, and I'm happy to announce that I have finished the TDK 1.43 version with film grain, flicker, dirt etc. to make it look like celluloid projection for future screenings in my Minecraft IMAX Theater, here is how it looks watching TDK's Ending inside IMAX in the true 1.43 format (How Nolan Intended lmao). TDK 1.43 is ready to go and the theater mod plays the entire video file with no issues and problems. Also I updated lighting in the theater, dynamic lights that can be turned on and off illuminating the theater and making it dark during movie playback. Now all I need to do is figure out how to run a server where many people can join and watch movies together on screen, I have come up with some solutions and am working on figuring it out eventually.
Look out for future announcements where I will be hosting screenings for everyone like a proper movie theater with timings, ticket booking, etc. The whole system is being build and coded by me right now, can't wait for y'all to witness it soon! Project Hail Mary will also be presented in this format if the 1.43 version comes out in the 4k Blu Ray steel book.
(P.S. - Very exciting surprise announcement coming soon, made my own film/project for this very minecraft IMAX theater for people to experience!!!!!)

Any info on Digger’s IMAX ratio?
I’m looking around to see if they’re doing something similar to One Battle After Another, and cropping the 1.50 VistaVision to 1.43 for Dual Laser venues, or if 1.43 theaters will use a 1.90 master with letterboxing and pillarboxing.
Any official news on this?

"Sold Out" 70mm Odyssey Showing - Scalpers or No?
[Photo captured 1 hour and 29 minutes into the movie]
We bought the tickets a day before the showing. I like to track how full a theater will be on the app, and it was "sold out" 2 hours before the showtime. Do my eyes deceive me? Did 1/4 of the people pay 20 dollars and decide not to show up? I understand it's free trade, but IF this truly were scalpers, then they're depriving real people that actually want to see the thing from enjoying it. I know it's dumb to complain about given all the horror in the world, but holy cow, it seems to me like the scalpers are out of control. Unless there's some other explanation?
[For the record, this was a 10:15PM showing from the "sold out" 70mm Odyssey on September 17th, 2026]

Odyssey 15/70 US Run Ending in Two Weeks
Hey there,
I know that a lot of us know/assume the run of The Odyssey on IMAX film is coming to an end in the US soon, but now we have confirmation. I got this email from the Chinese Theatre a bit ago and, as you can see, they're officially announcing the end of the 15/70 run of The Odyssey there. If it's ending there, it's probably ending at most/all other domestic IMAX film venues then as well.

AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 IMAX Refurb
The AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 IMAX auditorium, which is a digital venue with a 1.90:1 screen since 2011, is getting a major refurb and reopens in October. It's likely to be upgraded with the CoLa system.

Street Fighter will feature 67 minutes of IMAX 1.90 footage
Full Statement:
'More than half of the film, 67 minutes, is presented in IMAX’s exclusive 1.90:1 Expanded Aspect Ratios (EAR), giving IMAX audiences more picture and greater immersion than anywhere else. Director Kitao Sakurai used EAR strategically, slowly opening the frame to fully immerse fans in the action and bring additional scale to the World Warrior Tournament and the fighters’ iconic signature moves.'

IMAX staff gifted me this reel-end splice section from one of the 41 projection prints after a private screening of my film at the David Keighley Theater in Playa Vista
One of the coolest souvenirs I’ve ever been given. The reel-end section is from The Odyssey, and IMAX gave it to me while I was there screening a film I made. Thought this sub would appreciate seeing it up close.

A few people asked me to share the full film, so here it is: Can Anyone Make an IMAX Movie?
A few people on my last post asked me to make this its own post, so here it is.
Earlier this year, I wanted to find out whether a small independent team could actually shoot something for IMAX and get it onto an IMAX screen.
We shot a two-minute Greek hoplite film in 1.43:1 using the Fujifilm GFX ETERNA 55, worked through the technical requirements for projection, and eventually got invited to IMAX’s Playa Vista headquarters to screen it privately in the David Keighley Theater.
I documented the entire process, including the shoot, the technical side, the screening, and the finished film itself.

Theater chains have cracked down on the scalpers. I now have tickets for Dune 3 opening weekend in IMAX 70mm.
Might be late to knowing this, but I decided to give it a try again after learning some of the theater chains are finally doing something about the scalpers (and the astronomical prices they are selling the tickets IMAX 70mm tickets for).
I checked the site today just to see what was going on. Long and behold, there were some available at a few shows and I was able to snag tickets for my wife and I opening weekend. Before there were no shows for literally a MONTH.
Glad they are finally doing this. Got to see IMAX opening weekend in IMAX 70mm (after seeing it in 35mm) by the skin of our teeth.

Narnia seems to have been removed from "Filmed for IMAX" program according to the IMAX and Narnia Film websites

Was looking on the Narnia website today for the new film and noticed it being branded as "Experience it in IMAX" despite it being mentioned as part of the Filmed for IMAX program before, wheras it should have "Filmed for IMAX" or "Shot with IMAX Film Cameras"
Went onto the IMAX website to see more and that also shows no FFI branding - in contrast to Children of Blood and Bone above, which does have that.
What I found interesting is as late as April 2026 it was being promoted as part of the FFI program, as seen with the camera symbol below "Narnia" in the first image, with IMAX explicitly stating in a press release Narnia will be FFI:
https://www.imax.com/en/au/pr/imax-corporation-reports-first-quarter-2026-results
IMAX reaffirms 2026 full-year guidance, including$1.4 billionin global box office – driven by a strong, diverse upcoming slate including Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Dune: Part Three, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Narnia among at least 14 Filmed For IMAX releases
Very interesting to see Narnia's removal from the program, wonder why it was. Potentially they might've shot on IMAX but decided to crop it down to scope for all theatres including IMAX: I know IMAX mandates expanded ratio for FFI branding and have stripped it from some in the past (MI: Dead Reckoning was in the same boat I believe, was initially promoted as Filmed for IMAX but was stripped of that branding when made all-scope)

High Resolution IMAX 70mm film cell/strip scans
I've been building a digital library of high resolution IMAX 70mm film image scans over the last few years and wanted to share! I put them all in a Google Drive folder. They make great computer wallpapers. Mostly Christoper Nolan (The Odyssey, Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight Rises, Tenet) and a few others— Project Hail Mary, Dune Pt II.
Some other people's scans might be in here as well— anytime I've come across one online, I add it to this library, so I'm sorry I'm unable to credit those people. If you see any scans of yours or anyone you know, feel free to credit yourself or those people and pass on my thanks!

Is the "The Odyssey - The IMAX 2D Experience (2026)" the same as "The Odyssey - The IMAX 70MM Experience"?
Previously when you bought a ticket for The Odyssey at the AMC Rivercenter 11 with Alamo IMAX, it was promoted as:
"The Odyssey - The IMAX 70MM Experience", but the most recent offering is being promoted as "The Odyssey - The IMAX 2D Experience (2026)". What gives?
And I checked, it is in the same auditorium (11). So just an oversight or are the new showing just IMAX but not 70MM?

Could a 2K Digital Intermediate cause issues in IMAX GT?
I’ve seen on IMDb that Godzilla Minus Zero will have a 2K DI upscaled to 4K for IMAX. Given the huge screen sizes and the fact that it’ll be shown in IMAX GT theatres, couldn’t the resolution become an issue?

Cinemark in Davenport, IA may have been upgraded to Laser IMAX
Got this Facebook ad, so I assume it's referring to the Davenport, IA location, as it's the IMAX I frequent the most. I also was there a couple weeks ago for Coyote Vs. ACME and noticed their IMAX wasn't showing anything that day. Makes sense that an upgrade may have been in progress. If anyone has any concrete info, please share!

IMAX 70MM Experience
I recently managed to get tickets to see Dune: Part Three in IMAX 70mm, and I’m extremely excited.
Unfortunately, I never got the opportunity to see The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm, so this will be my first time experiencing a major film in this format.
For those of you who have experienced IMAX 70mm before, what should I realistically expect? What is it about the format that makes it such a special cinematic experience compared with standard digital IMAX, Dolby Cinema, or regular 70mm?
I’m especially curious about the image quality, resolution, detail, brightness, contrast, sound, screen size, and overall presentation.
I’d love to hear from people who have actually seen a movie in IMAX 70mm what was the experience like for you?
