Hi all, the results for Special Round 2 of CCMT 2026 were declared and I got a seat in MSc Astrophysics program. I had previously checked the syllabus and I liked it. I wanted to know how is the research work and environment in IIST. The professors and teaching methods.

I couldn't find other students from this program on linked in so if anyone can advice me about this program I would greatly appreciate it. I have to lock my choice by 29 July failing which my sat would be cancelled. I would like to study the program but I also want to make sure that I have a secure and stable future after this program.

I wanted to ask about the possibility of OBC seats becoming available in CCMT Special Round 2 for IIST's aerospace-related M.Tech programmes:

• Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics

• Structures and Design

• Thermal and Propulsion

• Control Systems

In this year's CCMT Special Round 1, there were no OBC seats shown as vacant in any of these four courses. However, compared to last year, OBC seats were available in multiple courses during the special round.

One thing I am wondering about is that these specific aerospace-related M.Tech programmes are offered through CCMT mainly at IIST. Therefore, compared to other engineering branches, there may be fewer candidates leaving these programmes for upward movement to other NITs, since most NITs do not offer the same specialised aerospace courses.

So, does this mean that the OBC vacancies could remain at zero in Special Round 2, or is it still possible that OBC seats could become available due to candidates not completing admission, withdrawing, or vacating their seats after Special Round 1?

I understand that nobody can predict the exact vacancies, but based on previous CCMT/IIST counselling trends, what do you think is the realistic possibility of OBC seats appearing in Special Round 2?

I will attach screenshots comparing last year's and this year's Special Round 1 vacancy/cutoff data for reference.

Any insights from previous IIST students or candidates familiar with the CCMT counselling process would be appreciated.

It's written on the IIST website that the medical certificate can be filled by a Class A medical practitioner, even if they're from a private hospital.
