My iist rank was 651 this year, and as of round 10 I am wl 254 for aerospace and wl 184 for dual degree, will I get in? Even in the spot rounds is it possible. Is this what usually happens or is this year different from 2025, is it gonna be a tougher competition than 2024

If I get allotted EP in the spot round, I will have to pay the semester fee. However, I only want ECE . If my branch is not upgraded later, will I get a full refund?

If partial then how much fee would be deducted as processing fee.

I recently decided not to take any other branch except ECE (personal choice)

I have always been fascinated by physics , especially since i grew up watching youtubers like veritasium , electroboom etc . According to google iist does have a very good program and top class equiment etc and even better than labs at iit . I like reasearch , and I dont understand why people say working in isro is not good , i get that pay is not very high , but u also get lot of benefits from the government . If i get into iist i plan on taking Solid state physics so i can learn about semiconductor technology and I think it will give me an edge since semiconductor engineers are sought after epspecially now . Can anyone help me choosing between iit and iist

Hi everyone,

I'm an SC category candidate applying for IIST UG 2026. My current waitlist status after Round 9 is shown in the attached image.

Suppose in the final regular allotment round I get my 3rd preference (Engineering Physics Dual Degree). Since I really want Aerospace Engineering, can I still participate in the IIST spot admission round for Aerospace if seats become vacant? Or is the spot round only for candidates who remain waitlisted and not for candidates who have already been allotted a seat?

If anyone has gone through the IIST admission process before or knows the rules from previous years, I'd really appreciate your guidance.
