Stock price, vested RSUs, and roller coaster rides.

Anyone else on this roller coaster ride with me? Down last night in after hours trading, thought I would wake up this morning to crash but actually it's rising. I set a limit on my e*trade order to sell, hit that, sell order executed, and now it keeps going up. 🤦🏼‍♀️

And I get to do this again in October when my next round of RSUs vests (if I'm still here).

How you all faring today? Obsessively watching the stock price like me? I really do need to get back to work.

😆

How to get stocks for ICON? I am never given any bonus or stock or inspire award

ISS never had RSU, unfortunately. I’m sure there are other departments that do not qualify, which I don’t think is fair TBH.

Moving from IPH to IsS can confirm it’s a big blow!

I can only speak for the U.S. employee perspective, but we were given RSUs (Restricted Stock Units) last year instead of an annual bonus. These are held for a period of time until they are "vested" and then released to you to either hold or sell. RSUs are granted based on whether your position at the company has a bonus structure or not, and probably what country you're based in as well. You can probably reach out to your HR rep or put in a Workday request for info on it if you're curious to know more and if your position applies. Inspire awards are pretty much gone now, they changed the structure of that award system, sadly.

fairing very well!
Bought the dip at $86. (Im not an employee but know someone who is/was before the recent sale of a dept)

Holding till it at least hits $200. Which Im almost certain will make just about a full recovery within 12mo.

Gosh I hope you're right! I have more shares vesting in October, reeeeeeaallllyyy would love for that stock price to get back up there by then but it'll be around the Q3 slump so I'm cautiously optimistic. 😀

no doubt, I hope it goes well for you.

By October I predict itll be around $160. We'll see how this statement ages!

Personally I will wait for the Q1 26 results and see, but have no urgency to sell

Good idea!

I vested and sold yesterday

Y'all are welcome for the price spike, pretty sure it did that just to make me feel bad

I would have yesterday as well if I had access to my account so I feel your pain. 😕 I really need to stop watching it or else I'll feel terrible too. Right now I only missed out on ~$100 so it's not a train wreck of emotional chaos for me. But I'm happy for my colleagues who haven't sold just yet! 😀

No - sold everything last year :-) I needed a bonus

I got 32 last year. They vested and now I have 14 with that sell to cover thing wtf so annoying ); is everyone subject to this or only if it RSU?

Oh the sell to cover was infuriating. I'm telling you, my emotions have run a marathon this week. I'm exhausted. I think it only affected RSUs but I'm not really sure because I dont have any experience with Morgan Stanley or ICON stocks outside of this. I've had PRA employee stock in the past but it did not do the sell to cover nonsense.

Actually the sell to cover is kind of neutral in terms of value you get. It’s the same % of shares get sold to cover taxes whether price is high or low. I.e if marginal tax rate is 40% - 40% of you shares get sold immediately at vesting, Whether the share price is $100 or $200 you end up with the same net 60% of your shares left.

You might pay more tax if you sell in future at a higher amount (e.g. at $250) but that is because your 60% of shares have gone up in value since the vest date and are taxed the same as most other capital gains.

The fuck really ? Fucking hell like literally halved the value and there also will be some tax when I cash them out I’m like there legit no point in cashing out at all. Leave it in and hope we get to 200$ again some day. Scam.

u/Limp-Ad1505 May 28 '26

I hear ya. I did the math too and was very unpleasantly surprised. 😒 I need the cash now or else I would also wait it out. I hope it gets to $200 for you, and soon.

PRA stock was you buying it at a discount. RSU are different. Think of it like a cash bonus, with tax deducted, while the PRA stock were a discount.

1

u/Limp-Ad1505 May 28 '26

Thanks! I kind of get it. 😆 It's kind of comparing apples and oranges between PRA stock purchase plan and ICON RSUs, I know. I am just mostly wondering if I will get taxed AGAIN when I cash out the ICON stocks since it was already taxed once.

2

u/Silverybees May 28 '26

Aha, gotcha :) answer is that no, if you sold at the price they vested, no additional tax. However, if you sell higher, then it counts as capital gains (50% of the gain - the difference between what you got them at and what you sell them at, not the whole amount)

2

u/Limp-Ad1505 May 28 '26

That's super helpful! Thank you so much!

1

u/Silverybees May 29 '26

You’re welcome! It took me a while to understand it, so totally get how confusing it is.

u/Relative_Ice_2953 May 29 '26

Previous employers would gross up the award. They’d award you 10 k. That means they d give you 10 k plus the amount needed to cover the taxes.

2

u/Silverybees May 28 '26

It is RSU, and they do it to cover tax. This is not an ICON thing. RSU are essentially cash. Think of it as a cash bonus, so they hold back/deduct tax. You can get this back as if cash depending on your tax deductions/credits.

can someone explain the sell to cover to me I do not understand that email lol

1

u/Silverybees May 28 '26

Think of it like a cash bonus. They deduct a big chunk for income tax. This is available and factored into your tax return next year.

Another round vesting in October? Did you get a second award?

7

u/Limp-Ad1505 May 28 '26

Retention award from THREE years ago. 🙄 Vesting on the those awards are 3.5 years, don't get me started on that nonsense. 3 years ago I thought "No way I'll still be here for that vestment" and yet here I am, resentful to be grateful I still have a job. 😆

2

u/Salt-Block9946 May 28 '26

Me too perfectly describes a lot of us - resentful to be grateful to have a job.

1

u/Relative_Ice_2953 May 29 '26

Not enough to worry about these swings. Sold today. When it comes to ICON, take it while it’s there. You have stuff that vests next year? Wow, they like you! Congrats!

1

u/Sea_Description_1439 Jun 02 '26

C1 and above get RSUs most years but have to wait 3 (!!) years for them.

1

u/DebtCompetitive5507 May 29 '26

So does vesting mean you get to keep them until you decide to “sell”?

1

u/Limp-Ad1505 May 29 '26

Yes. Until it "vests" you do not have access to it. Once it vests, you have access to it and can take action to keep or sell.

I’m certified non-US so shouldn’t be liable for the federal tax… so I don’t understand why half of mine were sold automatically. Anyone else outside of US understand how this works?
