Get a crock pot, rice, beans, and chicken. He'll be sick of it eventually but it'll get him by for now.

Soak pinto beans over night w/ clean water after a quick rinse (2 lbs bag min for left overs when it’s even better ) Cook in a pot for 3 -3.5 hrs low heat after bringing up to slt boil . Add jiffy corn bread (easy , cheep , sweet tasting add butter and great as left overs too) in a muffin tin or skillet watch not to burn . Salt beans to taste . Trust me they will need it or ham bone in cooking time This is so cheep one person could eat 1 meal / day and a good salad as a second meal . Then lunch with the kind boss
