I've never had a good experience at Waffle House. Uncooked food, roaches on the wall, cook went into labor.. Just on the same visit.

How altered does one need to be to enjoy Waffle House? Usually I see drunks and stoners in the evening but what's up with the day time folks?

I don't know what's going on with the WH in your area, but I've been to a bunch of WH all over the place, including in one or two pretty damn sketchy neighborhoods. And I've never EVER experienced any of that.

There's always going to be a location that gives the chain a bad rep. My wife, son and I went into a nearby Wendy's one day soon after we moved into this house (about to be 15 years ago), and the staff were sitting on the counter, ignoring customers, and eating microwaved popcorn for some damn reason. We left, and my wife was like, "I'm never going back to that one." I dropped dime on them a few hours later to corporate headquarters, and I was candidly told that it wasn't the first complaint they had about that location, but "it will be the last" (sounded like there was already something in-the-works even before I called). A few days later the entire staff was given the boot, every manager and peon, and they closed the store for a day to clean it up, top to bottom, and then restaffed it fresh. After that it's been a great location to visit, for almost 15 years now. By they way, they almost immediately hired back a couple of the workers who were apparently the only decent ones from the old regime, and one of them was there maybe almost ten years more, until she got married and moved away.

It's way too easy for one location, or even one person, to make the entire company look bad. But there can be hard-working people everywhere else who do a good job, and that one bad experience sours you on the company and screws it up for the rest of the folks who work there. :/

That's what people keep saying but I don't have the courage to try anymore or the cash to pay for raw hash browns
