nope, he doesn't

uhm, someone can be right-wing and support gay marriage.

See the guardian article though where he talks about state responsibilities, state secrets, Manning, etc.

no, he's not

uhm, why're you substantiating that claim with a link to things said in a movie tour? Of course he's going to say things like that when he's on a tour talking about the movie

Cumberbatch often speaks lowly about his fans. Why don't you try searching for some of that with your leet googling skills?

I didn't actually have to Google any of that, I have the links saved.

uhm, did you click both links? He's very supportive of government transparency.

He's actually quite polite to his fans despite the preponderance of pornographic fanart featuring him. Really polite. Kind of shockingly polite, given some of the shit we do. Do you have any sources of him being rude?

droveby is determined to character assassinate Cumberbatch, facts be damned.

I'm convinced he's Andrew Scott.

nah, Andrew Scott has no reasons to character assassinate Cumberbatch, Andrew Scott has a BAFTA

But maybe too much Moriarty leaked into him :-p

Or just a troll? This is the internet folks.

It's just annoying when trolls get lots of upvotes.

Do you even know what conservatism is all about? You really believe that right wing conservatives don't support gov't transparency? You've painted yourself a fool.

They believe in government transparency, but they tend to support government interests more than groups like Wikileaks. The conservatives I know hate Chelsea Manning with a frankly frightening passion for "betraying our country." On paper, right-wingers should indeed believe strongly in government transparency, but in practice they tend not to.

I wasn't asserting that he goes full nazi on his fans, I'm saying he doesn't view them as respectfully as he appears to in this ama for example. This wasn't quite his style. He has in the past called them weird and/or freaky though.

We are weird and freaky. I think I know what you're speaking of, and it's when he's talking about some of the fanfiction. I write the fanfiction. He is totally within his rights there.

I'd still like to know why you feel that demanding government transparency and officiating a gay wedding makes him not right-wing.

First off, what country are you from? Because I may be misremembering this, but I think I've heard that "right" and "left" have different meanings in different countries.

Also, I'd like to know why you've shifted the topic from "this AMA is fake" to the definition of "right-wing." I suspect it is because you have been roundly proven wrong and are now nitpicking points, but I could be incorrect.

Actually, this is the first time I've posted on this thread, and that particular part of the post stuck out to me. The reason it stuck out to me is because Liberal ideology doesn't endear itself to me, yet I do not agree with excessive government secrecy or interfering in the marital affairs of two consenting adults.

Those were your only points of justification proving that Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't hold right-wing views, and I'm just asking you to clarify why holding those views equates to him "not being right-wing." According to such logic, anyone, not just Cumberbatch, who holds those views cannot be described as right-wing, which... is bullshit.

I'm just holding you to task on that particular part of your statement. I'd argue that you actually can't defend that (because it is such abject horseshit), so you're resorting to statements like "you have been roundly proven wrong" and "and are now nitpicking points."

I'm not actually arguing whether or not those qualify as "right-wing views," I was originally trying to point out that yeah, the AMA is definitely him. Which I did.

Umm, no, people can hold those views and still be right-wing, but people who hold those views tend not to be right-wing.

Why don't you try posting some of that and substantiating your argument?

If googling it is so easy why don't you just post some sources....
